“Comb-O Debby?”
The six-year-old boy next to him looked up at him and tilted his head to the side. His straight blonde locks were shimmering platinum thread as they swayed loosely over his bright green eyes. Eiji thought that his eyes nearly perfectly matched the hues of the forest leaves behind him. He looked like he belonged here, somehow.
“Ko-mo-re-bi.” Eiji laughed as he stretched his arm out to tousle the younger boy’s hair. “It’s the word for the light that you can see through the trees.”
“Oh…” The boy glanced up. “That’s dumb.”

Since he was seven years old, Eiji had grown accustomed to his best friend Aslan coming to visit every summer. But when clues start surfacing about the nature of Aslan's life in America, Eiji must decide how much he's willing to risk to protect him.
An AU in which Ash and Eiji are childhood friends and grow up together. Takes place partly in New York and partly in Japan.
