Steve... didn't come back.
Bucky knew it was going to happen and could have expected the reactions. After all, the old man had helped him keep away from Hydra after Project Insight. It had taken some time for him to trust him, but he'd always found a few details regarding the situation... odd.
Steve's failing health notwithstanding.
It would be difficult, accepting the fact that he'd chosen to leave all of them behind. A more bitter part of him wondering if Steve ever really considered them his family, if they were so easy to throw away... But there was the letter that stood as proof of what always would have been.
And then... the biggest question he still couldn't wrap his head around or figure out.
