September 23rd, 1974
Dear New Friend,
Hi! I'm Eddie Munson! I'm your new penpal! Its so cool that we're getting to do this. I have been waiting since the first grade to get a penpal, all my teachers were telling me it would be fun, and now I'm excited to make a new friend!
This is my first letter to you, so I'm going to tell you about myself! You know my name now, but I'm nine years old, and I turn ten in may! I know its September now, but may is soon and I can't wait to be ten, it's going to be so cool! I live in Indianana. It's very boring here. But we have an arcade and its fun!
I like to ride my bike a lot, too. And, my mom just told me if I get good grades this year, she'll buy me my first guitar! I have always wanted a guitar. She says I'm not going to play it, but I am. My favorite color is blue, like the sky, and I like to watch Scooby doo, but sometimes it gets scary.
Anyway, I'm supposed to write this letter to you so we can learn things about each other. All of my friends get to write letters, too, but they all go to different people! Isn't that neat? I'm excited to get to know things about you. My teacher gave me questions to ask you, so I'm going to write them down and ask you!
What is your name? Where are you from? What's your favorite color? Favorite show?
Do you like music? I love music! My mom got me a super cool new radio that I can even put cassette tapes in! I can't wait to listen to my music when I go home. Do you have a radio, too?
But I liked writing this. I hope to hear from you soon!
