Jason was going to die. He was going to burn and crash and die, in that order specifically. Whatever was happening was doing more damage than any person he's fought against ever could, but this pain just happened to be in his and Leo's dorm, and it just happened to be psychological.
"Spider-man placed his masked hand on your name's cheek-"
Leo was going to kill him.
"Leooo, stop," Jason whined.
"Why?" Leo snorted. "Don't you wanna imagine your mother selling you for drugs and having your friendly neighborhood Spidey buy you, but he just refuses to take off the mask-"
"Shut up, man."
Jason's protests only fueled Leo more, and he began reading louder. "Spider-man placed his masked hand on your-name's face and whispered, 'You'll be helping me fight crimes from now on.' My heart thumped at the thought. Why would Spider-Man want me to help him? Did he realise that I'm just not like other girls? Does he prefer girls with messy buns over perfect beach waves? Girls who wear glasses and hoodies instead of heels and short skirts? Girls who like playing football instead of cheerleading? Does he think that I'm special?"
"I hate you," Jason groaned, covering his face with a pillow. Jason's hated being Spider-Man so many times throughout his career, but never as much as he did then, lying down on his bed.
"This one's boring," Leo announced, clicking through Wattpad on his laptop. Jason saw Leo smirk, and he dreaded finding out what the hell Leo had just found. "Electro-Spider X Male Reader Lemons, shock kink." Leo was going to kill Jason.
Leo scooted to be closer to Jason, their thighs accidentally touching. Jason felt a jolt of electricity, making Leo jump. Jason almost began to freak out, started thinking of an excuse, but Leo appeared to be too focused to think much of it. He continued reading. "Your-name just woke up from the worst nightmare of his life-"
Jason groaned, taking the blue pillow and weakly hitting Leo with it. Leo dodged it, snickering. "What do you want from me?" Jason complained before covering his face with his pillow.
"All I want is to be sold to Spider-man. You think he'll end up having a weird ass spider themed wedding with me?" Jason moved to sit next to Leo, looking at his laptop. Holy shit, why were there so many stories?
"I doubt there would be any spiders."
"Do you think he'll use a mask instead of a veil?"
Jason groaned at the thought of him walking down the isle with his Spider-Man mask on. The marriage to Leo part didn't sound too bad, though. "Doubt that."
"Maybe when he kisses me, It'll be electric. Literally. Like, he'll fucking shock me or something. Do you think Electro-Spider's powers could do that?" Jason blushed at the thought. He didn't want to think about kissing Leo when they were sitting so close.
"Why are you so obsessed with Spider-Man now?" was all Jason could think to say in his moment of despair.
"Didn't you figure it out? I'm gonna make Spider-Man fall in love with me." Jason was about to die, he really was. He wanted to scream that Spider-Man was, indeed, already in love with the asshole in front of him, but he couldn't. Instead, he tried to fight back the heat rising to his face and repeated with a squeakier voice than intended, "Fall in love?"
"Yup."
"How do you plan to do that?"
"I have a three step plan: become his best friend, make him tell me his secret identity, and have him fall helplessly in love with me."
"That sounds... difficult."
Leo winked. "Oh, Jasey, I'm already on step two."
Wait.
"Huh?"
Leo nodded. "I should probably tell him he should stop shocking me so much when we're playing Mariokart. Oh, I should also tell him to be more careful when he takes off his dollar tree costume. I saw his bare white ass in our dorm. Not something I was expecting to see at 4am."
Oh.
Oh, wait.
Fuck.
Jason felt himself accidentally shock Leo, who jumped and got up from the bed. "Holy shit, dude! If I didn't know already, this would-"
"You know?" Jason asked loudly as he moved to sit properly to look at Leo.
Leo rolled his eyes. "Do I need to repeat the part about the bare white ass? Why don't you wear anything under that suit?"
Jason ignored him, partially out of embarrassment. "When... did you find out?"
Leo shrugged. "The shocks and injuries became suspicious in June."
"June? That's-"
"Four months ago, yup."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Leo furrowed his brows as he sat back down next to Jason. "I should be the one asking you this question, Sparky."
Jason winced. Leo was right, he was, and seeing how hurt Leo looked, he knew he owed him an explanation, but he didn't even know how to begin explaining himself. He grimaced. "I didn't want you to get hurt."
Leo lifted a brow. "And it's fine if you get hurt?"
"I..."
"Y'know, I may not have superpowers, but I want to protect you too." Leo nudged Jason gently. "You come home bruised and broken all the time. You're my best friend, man. I need to keep you safe."
Jason gently shook his head, refusing to look at Leo. "It's not like that. I didn't want you to be targeted. People would love to hurt you if they knew you were linked to Spider-Man."
"Sucks that they won't know."
"It's not that easy."
"It really is." Leo had a grin on his face, his teeth basically shining as he looked at Jason. The grin slowly disappeared as Jason watched as Leo thought carefully of what to say next. He was biting his tongue when he finally decided on what to say. "No more secrets, okay? We never keep shit from each other. You're supposed to trust me."
"I do, Leo. Of course I do."
"Pinky promise?" Leo asked, lifting his pinky finger to Jason's face. Jason wrapped his finger around Leo's and nodded.
"Pinky promise."
Leo nodded gently, bopping his head as he smiled. "Great. Yeah. Great. By the way, the reason I didn't say anything was cuz I knew you'd deny it. And when I knew for sure, I needed to mess with you."
Jason lifted a brow. "Self-insert fanfiction?"
Leo grinned. "You enjoying the idea of fucking yourself? Here's a good one: Omega Spider-Man Sold to Alpha Reader, female reader, contains lemons. Amazing."
"You tell me you know I'm Spider-Man and you still want to read Spider-Man smut?"
"Hey, the Spidey thing is old news, and at least I know what to picture under that suit," Leo winked then proceeded to laugh as Jason hit him weakly with a pillow.
Jason rolled his eyes, and as Leo kept reading, Jason stayed silent, aimlessly staring at the screen as he thought. No more secrets, but there had been one that ate at his soul for months now. Leo deserved to know, just like he'd deserved to know about his alter ego, except this could truly set their friendship to flames.
But Leo deserved to know, and Jason wanted to tell him. He'd wanted to tell him for ages, since the moment Piper cornered him and called him out on everything he'd felt but didn't know he was feeling. He pinky promised, anyways. "If we're sharing secrets, I have something to tell you."
"What, you're keeping something else from me, Spidey?" Leo rolled his eyes again, and, gods, Jason loved Leo's black eyes. They were so pretty and dark and Jason could just get lost in them and Jesus Christ he was getting distracted and his face was heating up.
"Uh, yeah, kinda, but I've kept this for longer than the Spider-Man thing."
He could see Leo's interest peak as he turned to Jason, eyebrows lifted in surprise. "What could you have been lying about for more than six months?"
"You remember your plan? The third step?"
Leo lifted an eyebrow and lowered the screen of his Macbook, shifting his attention to Jason. "The Spidey falling hopelessly in love with me part?"
Kicking ass was a lot less scarier than what he was about to do, Jason realised. He took a deep breath in, trying to calm his nerves before finally answering. "Yeah, the fall in love part. You got there a long time ago. Before the Spider-Man thing."
Leo squinted ar him, analysing his face before his entire face lit up in surprise, or shock, or maybe disgust, or maybe joy? Jason couldn't read faces to save his own life. "Do you..."
"I like you, Leo. I have for a long time now."
Leo stayed silent for a moment, his gaze diverted as he thought, and just as Jason was about to nervously break the silence, Leo replied. "Huh."
"Huh?"
Leo shook his head and smiled softly. "Wrong reaction, I know. Just surprised. I've had the fattest, stupidest crush on this one guy forever. Hard not to, when I spend so much time with his blond ass. He's really tall, really bulky. And hot. Started sneaking out every to kick ass a while ago."
Jason felt his entire body relax at once, and he leaned into Leo's neighbouring body gently. "Do I have competition?"
"Nah."
The two smiled at each other, and Jason could swear Leo's smile lit up the room, or maybe he was delirious and high from the joy thst pumped in his veins and made his heart race. Leo's coily black hair covered his face, and as Jason gently moved a strand away, he gently spoke. "Can I kiss you?"
"I'd like that, Sparky."
And just like that, Jason moved his hands to gently cup Leo's face, and their eyes fluttered closed, and Jason kneeled down and placed his lips on Leo's. The position was awkward, sure, but he was too distracted by the feeling of their lips pressing against one another to even dare move.
It was electric.
Literally.
Leo jumped suddenly, yelling a loud "Ow!" before placing his fingers gently on his lips, and all Jason could think was 'Fuck'.
Leo gently tapped at his lips but didn't wince, grinnint as he looked at Jason. "Turns out Spidey does electrocute people when he kisses them."
"I'm sorry!"
Leo laughed, moving to intertwine his fingers with Jason's. "You'll have to make up for it by kissing the injury. Y'know, kiss it better or whatever."
"I can do that."
