Far From The Most Pressing Matter (But Still Worth Addressing)

Summary:

"You doin' alright there, tiny?" the woman asked, cautiously walking over and sitting next to him. He didn't want to bother her with her issues, but... Well, she was literally prompting him.

"I just..." he trailed off, trying to find the best way to word it to someone who didn't have that experience personally. Lila waited patiently- Viktor always sort of thought Diego didn't give the woman enough credit for how good of a listener she could be when she wanted to be. "I know it's not at all what's important right now and it's selfish to even like... Be dwelling on this"

"Spit it out, tiny"

OR

Viktor is feeling insecure. Lila is a good friend.

Work Text:

Viktor was sitting on his bed in the hotel, just thinking over everything. Obviously, the more pressing matters at hand were the end of the world and Can I fix things with Allison? but there was also this... Worry at the back of his mind. Not his usual anxiety, no. This was a lingering nervousness, or rather an insecurity. The fear that his siblings still just saw him as a girl and were only being nice about it to stay on his good side.

He was suddenly brought out of his thoughts by the sound of someone in the doorway, clearing their throat. He looked up, startled at the sudden presence, but relaxed when he recognized it to be Lila.

"I'm worried that the others don't actually see me as, y'know, a guy" he told her, not sure how else to word it. "Like, they've all been respectful about it and whatever, but there's this voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me that they don't actually see me that way and are only being nice about it for the sake of being nice"

"Well, that's bullshit" Lila replied bluntly. Viktor shrugged. "It is" she repeated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"How do you know, though?"

"Because I know that I see you as a guy" Lila told him. Viktor couldn't help the small smile that came to his face at this validation. "And a bloody good one at that, despite what your delusional sister's been off on" she continued, feeling a small twinge of regret as the man's smile faded at the mention of Allison. "And I know that your siblings all see Diego as a guy just as much as they do Luther or Five"

"Yeah, but Diego's..." Viktor groaned. "Like, look at him" he gestured vaguely. "He's so much more..."

"He wasn't always like that" Lila told him with a small smile. "And you're wasting your time comparin' yourself to that wanker anyways"

"Isn't he like your boyfriend?"

"Yeah" Lila replied with a chuckle. "And I'd call him a wanker to his face, cause he is one"

...

"Thank you, Lila"

"Don't mention it"
