Work Text:
It took every willpower Grandma Daisy Tucker had to not yell at Laura.
All Laura did was ask the old woman to not be too harsh on Craig, if ever the young Tucker decided to talk to his favorite grandmother.
And everyone knew that she never gets angry at Craig for no reason. She especially does not get angry at him if her grandson gathered all his confidence to tell her what was bothering him. The child was known to bottle up his emotions, so whenever he did talk about it, it’s a really big deal.
However, she had been thinking that Craig might be gay. She had never seen the young noiret be with a girl except for that one time, but even Craig admitted he dated her for the sake of fitting in with his friends, and he never liked her romantically. After that, nothing.
And Daisy wanted to be the one Craig talked to about such things. Her son and Craig’s dad, Thomas, was also a grandma’s boy, and the late woman had raised him to be quite the conservative. He might have not accepted his son’s true identity, and it makes Daisy’s heart ache at the thought of it.
So when Laura dropped by and spoke in such a soft tone, Daisy was a little angry.
How dare Craig come out to everyone else except to her?
In a petty mood, she huffed and grabbed her phone, opening her messages with her not-at-the-moment-favorite grandson.
You [draft]: Your Ma told me that you might be gay.
She thought of what else she could say. She thought of the boy across the street ( pretty sure his name is Virgil ) and that he is the same age as Craig. That boy was nice, doesn’t talk much, but kind enough to greet her every time they see each other. He would be a cute partner to her grandson.
You: Your Mom told me that you might be gay. You bastard. You should have told me first, there’s a lovely boy named Virgil across from where I live.
Daisy sent the message, then immediately felt bad for calling Craig a bastard. Yet she knew that the noiret wouldn’t mind. The entire Tucker family flipped each other off on a daily basis, and she is honestly surprised no one had commented about it.
Or maybe they want to, but are afraid of us, the Tuckers.
She saw the three dots appear.
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: hi grandmama
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: lol wdym Ma told u
You: I’m mostly mad that you didn’t tell me first.
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: i’m sorry
Daisy frowned at that, holding on to her phone tightly. She had to make the fonts bigger on the phone for her to see what is on the screen and make sure she is writing properly.
She didn’t expect Craig to apologize. At the very least, she expected him to send a random guinea pig video or looping image as an apology. She wanted to reply and tell him it’s okay and he can still visit, it’s not like she is truly an—
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: i was too scared to tell you
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: Pa took a while to accept me and well
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: i was scared i won’t be your grandson anymore
She sniffled and held the phone close to her chest. She wanted to just joke around with him, even though she was being petty to be the last one to know. She should have considered Craig’s feelings. Her grandson is not a robot, and coming out is a big deal. Of course he would be scared.
You: Oh, Craig. You would always be my grandson no matter what.
You: I’m sorry, little one, I should have been more careful with my words.
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: it’s okay, grandmama
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: can you visit tho? Id ask Pa to drive me there but
The three dots kept on appearing and disappearing. It felt like a good few minutes before it finally stopped. And Daisy knew enough about instant messaging that Craig was hesitating as he kept on typing and deleting, but she didn’t want to press further. She would talk to him about it in person.
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: Pa and Ma’s gonna be at work
Daisy already knew that, and she knew that it wasn’t the whole reason why Craig wouldn’t be able to visit.
You: Okay, I’ll visit. Do you want me to bring you guys anything?
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: nah we will be baking something
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: wait
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: can you pls buy a bag of rainbow sprinkles?
She laughed, knowing that her grandchildren always seemed to like forgetting one ingredient whenever they bake. She was already suspecting they do that for Daisy to buy it and have her visit the family even though she pretty much has told them that they can just ask her to and she would.
You: Okay, see you soon then, dear.
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: and uh not interested on dating Virgil
Booger-Eating Fool 💙: i mean, there’s already enough dudes here so…
Her eyebrow raised upon reading the last message before Craig went offline to go back with helping Tricia with the cupcake batter (so that’s what the rainbow sprinkles are for). He did have a point though. There were enough boys his age in South Park, so it would just be a matter of who he would be dating. Daisy remembered his small group of friends that he talked about frequently. While she knew there were other boys, she had a feeling Craig wouldn't be as interested in them since he really didn't talk about anyone outside his friend group.
As she bought the rainbow sprinkles from her neighbor (who coincidentally is a baker), she tried her best to remember who Craig considers as his friends.
He has two best friends: Clyde Donovan and Tolkien Black. The two others that occasionally visit: Jimmy Valmer and Jason White. And…
She was aware that she was missing someone. Throughout the entire trip to the mountain town, she wracked her brain on remembering who he was. All she could remember was that boy had an altercation with Craig, but they ended up as friends. She couldn’t remember the facial features of the boy (albeit, she couldn’t remember the faces of Craig’s other friends either).
She just needed to ask Craig about him.
“Craiggy, since we made enough cupcakes, why don’t you invite your friends over?”
She hoped she didn't come off as invasive, although she is pretty sure she was. She smiled at him when he looked at her in confusion, soshe shrugged.
“Why?” He asked, suspicion dripping in his tone.
“Well, we made quite a lot. Are you expecting us to eat it all?”
Daisy swore to God that she wasn’t exaggerating when she said they made a lot of cupcakes. The entire countertop and kitchen table all have cupcakes on top of it. She was getting a little lightheaded by looking at all the buttercream frosting with rainbow sprinkles decorating it. She hoped this was for a school project or a school charity, or else she doesn’t want to know what her grandson wanted to do with all of these pastries.
Tricia raised a brow at them while untying her apron that did nothing to keep her clothes from the flour.
“I thought these are for-”
“For my friends, yes,” Craig answered rather quickly, and Daisy’s ears perked at his rushed tone. He is definitely hiding something. “I-I’ll just call them.”
“Great, I know Clyde would inhale all of these within a second.” Tricia said, lips pursing into a straight line.
They thought their Grandma Daisy didn’t see Craig glare at his little sister with eyes that scream ‘Keep your goddamn mouth shut’. Daisy did, but she didn't bring it up. She just grabbed the wooden seat and sat down, looking back and forth at her grandchildren.
Craig shoved his hands inside his hoodie’s pockets, and walked out of the kitchen into the living room. Daisy could barely hear the faint tapping sound when she looked over to Tricia, who flipped her brother off behind his back. She chuckled at the strawberry-blonde, and gestured for her to come close.
“Do you know?” Daisy asked her granddaughter who nodded, crossing her arms.
“Everyone in the town did. Everyone else knew even before Craig realized he didn’t like girls,” Tricia stated before huffing. “Pa was such a dick about it.”
“I’ve heard.”
Silence fell upon them, but they can hear Craig whisper yelling into his phone, words muffled enough for Daisy to not understand. She took a deep breath, and sensed that Tricia did the same thing as she was holding onto her jacket’s hem.
“Why is your brother acting weird?”
“I—” Tricia bit her lower lip, looking down at her indoor shoes. “I can’t tell you.”
Daisy should not be surprised by that, but she was, even if it’s a little bit. There are a lot of times where the siblings would break the rule of sibling promises, and tell their grandma about the other’s secret. It seemed they still managed to keep their promise some times and hide a handful of secrets since Tricia wouldn’t budge, but this time she wouldn’t look at the old woman’s eyes.
“This does not hurt him, right? I mean, it’s not something concerning?”
The strawberry-blonde nodded, and turned her head to the direction where Craig left.
“It is something he should tell you about himself. I might like embarrassing him, but I know where to draw the line,” she looked at her grandmother with a small smile. “And this is personal.”
Tricia didn’t even let Daisy answer back as she waved at her and retreated upstairs, presumably to take a bath. Daisy hummed to herself, drumming her fingers on the little space left on the table. She was really curious about her grandson, but she knew she had to let Craig take his time and have him open up to her at his own pace. She couldn’t just force him to tell her everything.
But that wouldn’t stop her from looking for potential boyfriends for him.
And that’s half the reason why she wanted to meet his friends. She felt bad for not remembering their own little personality quirks. She wasn’t around much in the town, and it was always the family visiting her in her own little cottage. Yet, she was ready to know them all again; to judge them if one of them is a suitable boyfriend for Craig because she was also doubting that Craig would choose a decent one. This town was very peculiar, and everyone living here has always done something to make Daisy worry about her family. However, it seemed they are doing well, and Craig and Tricia are happy, so she guessed that it wasn’t so bad. And, if Craig happened to get a boyfriend here, then Daisy would let him stay as long as both of them were happy.
1. Clyde Donovan
“CUPCAKES!!”
Daisy looked over to the entrance of the kitchen to see a chubby brunet with the happiest smile she had ever seen. She could practically see his chocolate-brown eyes sparkling with excitement as he drooled while staring at the cupcakes. He looked over to her, and his eyes widened a bit.
“Grandma Tucker!”
“Clyde, you better not eat anything yet!” Daisy heard Craig yell from the living room.
Right. This is Clyde Donovan.
“Hello, Clyde, you’re very fast to come here.” She chuckled when the young brunet smiled brightly at him.
“That’s because I live next door!” He said, and his voice reminded Daisy of Craig, just with more emotions. “I would have waited for Tolkien, but I wanted to eat more cupcakes.”
She handed him one, despite just hearing her grandson tell Clyde to not eat anything yet. She placed a finger in front of her lips and wink, to signal for him to be quiet so Craig wouldn’t know. Clyde óh’-ed silently then nodded, the grin not faltering even for a second.
Clyde reminded Daisy of a hyper puppy, and a few memories flooded back to her. Despite Craig acting like he has more braincells than the brunet, they ended up doing the thing the noiret claimed is stupid. So, she was having a hard time figuring out if one of them is a bad influence or both of them just share one brain cell.
But seeing how happy the brunet looked while unwrapping the cupcake midway as quietly as he could, Daisy thought he would appreciate Craig’s mediocre cooking in the future. She watched as Clyde meticulously cut the cupcake with the nail of his thumb in half, then flipped the top part into the bottom part, squishing the frosting in the middle.
“This is how you eat a cupcake properly,” He whispered with a smile, before biting into his cupcake-sandwich.
Daisy blinked. “That’s actually a smart way to eat it.”
Clyde nodded, swallowing his bite before talking. “You get equal frosting! And it wouldn’t get on your nose.”
She smiled at him and nodded, crossing her arms as she leaned back on her seat.
“Say, Clyde, you do… know that Craig is,” she grabbed a few pieces of table napkins and wiped the brunet’s cheeks since he was a messy eater. “Well, homosexual?”
Clyde laughed then nodded, walking over to the trash can and threw away the cupcake liner. He looked over his shoulder to plead at her using his eyes while he reached for another cupcake. She let him, ready to ignore her grandson scolding her for giving in to the brunet’s puppy eyes.
“I have known since we were 6!” Clyde grinned proudly, a hand on his puffed chest. “When he didn’t joined us to look at girls, I knew he was gay!”
“That’s a lie, and you know it, Clyde.”
Daisy turned her head and saw Craig with another young boy, and she remembered him by his done expression and crossed arms. And the way he immediately smiled when their eyes met.
2. Tolkien Black
“Hello there, Tolkien,” she greeted as Tolkien walked over to her and kissed the back of her hand like a gentleman. “It is very nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to see you again, Grandma Tucker.” Tolkien bowed, the smile not faltering from his lips. But it instantly turned into a frown when he glanced back at Clyde. “Put that back. Craig told us that we have to wait before we can eat.”
“But Grandma Tucker said—”
“And I said no.”
Craig glared at Clyde who pouted, but obeyed and put the cupcake he just grabbed back on the counter top. Tolkien just sighed and shaked his head at the two. That small interaction itself made Daisy smile to herself, seeing how different their personalities are to one another. But she put on critical glasses, and tried to judge these two if they are compatible with Craig.
Clyde was hyper, and wasn’t really afraid of Craig, even flipped the noiret off when he got the middle finger raised at him. Tolkien seemed to be the voice of reason given by how he pushed their faces away when the two were about to slap one another. Daisy knew how much of a dumbass her grandson can be, so it must be tiring to basically have those two on leashes.
Clyde might be able to push Craig out of his shell and influence him to not bottle up his emotions, she thought as she stood up, preparing the kettle since she was in the mood for some tea. Tolkien might be able to make Craig think twice before making a decision, and not teach him that there are other solutions, and not just violence.
But before Daisy could even bugger Craig away, so she could ask the two if they are interested on dating her grandson, Clyde’s declared that he had found a cute girl in the classroom next to theirs. That made her keep her mouth shut. She glanced at the boys, seeing the brunet wrapping his arms around the other two, near choking them.
“I think her name starts with a K?”
“Dude, you don’t even know her name,” Craig groaned as he slapped Clyde’s arm. “Let go, you big oaf, I can’t breathe.”
“Same here, Clyde,” Tolkien let out a breath when the brunet apologized and let go. “What about Bebe? You said you wanted to ask her out.”
“She’s dating Kenny now.”
“How can you be straight and still be single?” Craig huffed and Clyde immediately whined his protest.
“Hey, that’s straightphobic!”
“There’s no such thing.”
“There is!”
“There’s not.”
Clyde growled and stomped his foot. “There is!”
“Okay, that’s enough.”
Daisy bit down a laugh when she saw Tolkien pinching Craig and Clyde’s cheeks hard enough for the two boys to try and swat his hands away. She drummed her fingers on the counter top, waiting for the kettle to hiss and she could finally have her tea.
So Clyde is out of the possible suitors. Maybe Tolkien is—
Ding dong!
“That might be Jimmy.” She heard Craig say just in time for the kettle to be ready.
“Or Jason.” Tolkien said with such certainty.
“I did not invite him.”
“I know, but since you invited him, you know, his best friend, he would come either way.”
That whole sentence Daisy heard from Tolkien confused and intrigued her. She asked them if they wanted tea, and unsurprisingly Tolkien was the only one who asked for a cup. Then he asked for another cup, however, instead of chamomile, he requested lavender for the second one.
“Why do you want two cups of tea?” Clyde asked, hovering in his friend’s personal bubble and poke his arm.
“For Jason, I know he loves lavender.” Tolkien answered casually, but Daisy didn’t miss how happy he looked when she handed him the cups.
Interesting.
“Ugh, why are you here?”
“Fuck off, Tucker, I’m here for the food, not for you.”
3. Jason White
They turned to see another boy, this time with brown hair and tiny freckles decorating his cheeks. Daisy knew he should be familiar to him but his name is escaping her brain. But since the boys are expecting either a Jimmy or a Jason, the brunet is either one of them. She cursed herself in her brain, not liking that her old age is already affecting her.
“Jason!” Tolkien greeted with a smile, running to him and giving him his lavender tea. “Grandma Tucker made some tea. Asked her for your favorite.”
“A-Ah, thank you.”
Daisy’s eyebrow raised when Jason smiled at Tolkien, similarly to how her cat, Crowley, back home smiled at her when he was given food. She was starting to think that there’s something going on between these two.
Jason looked over to her and she straightened up. He immediately looked down to her feet, which confused her. The brunet had the most piercing icy blue eyes she had ever seen, and it even intimidated her a little. During that short moment, it was like Jason was judging her very soul.
“Hello there,” she greeted with a tilt of her cup in his direction, not wanting to make him uncomfortable. “Have we met before, young one?”
Jason nodded, but still didn’t lift his eyes to look at her. “We have, but I do not blame you for forgetting. I have only visited a few times.”
“I didn’t invite you,” Daisy glared at Craig who is glaring at Jason, like a cat ready to fight with another cat. “Get out of my house.”
“Craigory, that’s not nice.” Sipping her tea, she flipped him off, and her grandson flipped her back. “Let him stay.”
“Bleh.” Jason stuck his tongue out at Craig who raised both of his middle fingers at him.
That made Daisy remember how Thomas and Laura acted before. They used to fight like an old couple. Even though Daisy didn't believe that banter is equal to flirting, she did acknowledge that situations like those two could happen. And if Jason would be interested in dating Craig, they would look cute together.
But there was something going on with Token and Jason.
She should just ask one of them.
“Craig! Get your butt up here, I need help moving my shelf!” Tricia’s shout was heard from upstairs.
“Go on and help your sister.” Daisy tilted her head to the direction of the stairs.
Craig’s frown got deeper, and it seemed like her grandson was getting genuinely upset. She took note of that, since he had never seen him like this before. The noiret just gave her a curt nod and grabbed Clyde’s wrist, dragging him up the stairs.
“Wha—”
“Just come with me, I don’t wanna deal with my sister alone.” Craig said as they walked up the stairs.
Daisy heard Clyde yelling to save him some cupcakes and Jason yelling back that he’ll eat it all, earning a short and half-hearted scolding from Tolkien. That itself was interesting, because the noiret kept his mouth shut when the brunet looked at him with a teasing smile.
She finished her tea, placing it in the sink before walking to where the children are.
“Is it okay if I ask both of you some questions?”
They looked at one another, then nodded. Jason looked like he was already trying to think of the right answers while Tolkien was mostly confused.
“I’ll be upfront,” Daisy took a deep breath. It felt uncomfortable asking them since it felt invasive but all she wanted was for her grandson to have a boyfriend. “Are you guys gay?”
“I’m bisexual.” Jason quickly replied, taking a sip of his lavender tea.
Tolkien chuckled awkwardly, scratching his cheek. “I, uhm, thought I was straight but… I guess I am questioning?”
Daisy nodded, a twinkle in her eye. “Are you interested in dating my grandson?”
Tolkien choked, spitting out some of his tea while Jason closed his eyes. Still having a neutral expression on his face. The brunet looked at Daisy dead in the eyes and said—
“No.”
She should have expected it but her eyes still widened by his bluntness. At least the boy was honest. Jason looked at Tolkien, then gently held on to his sweater. The noiret turned his head to stare at his friend in confusion. And then Jason glanced back at Daisy to speak.
“This one is mine. He is my boyfriend.”
“Oh—”
“What—”
Daisy raised an eyebrow. “Tolkien, why are you shocked?”
“UHM— Well, I—” Tolkien stuttered then his breath hitched when Jason’s hand dropped from holding on to his sweater and held his hand, fingers interlacing. “Iwasjustsurprisedhewouldjustsaythat, haha?”
Jason snorted, pulling a blushing Tolkien closer to him. “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but why are you asking if we are interested in dating Craig?”
Daisy could tell that Tolkien was trying to hold it together. It was remarkable to see how different these two are, judging by how calm Jason is next to him. The old woman could only sigh and put a hand on her hip, her other hand gesturing up the stairs.
“Craig’s an asshole, I am pretty sure you are aware of that and I can say that he is because he came from my son, and I want someone to like him romantically.” She admitted, glancing at the stairs.
A few seconds of silence fell on them until Jason spoke up.
“I thought he is with—”
Tolkien snapped out of whatever dazed state he was in and tugged on Jason’s arm, getting the brunet’s attention. He leaned close to his supposed boyfriend’s ear, whispering until Jason’s expression turned into a done look, eyelids half closed.
“It seems like I can’t tell you. Craig had told them to keep their mouths shut.”
“You aren’t supposed to say that either, babe!” Tolkien whined before his eyes widened again, and he averted his gaze by gulping down his cold chamomile tea.
“Tell me what?” Daisy squinted at them. She could hear Tricia shoving the two boys out of her room, thanking them half-heartedly.
“Personally, I think it’s wrong to keep this information from you so I’ll say half of it.” Jason’s eyes flickered to the stairs then back at Daisy. “Craig has a boyfriend already.”
She gasped, quickly covering her mouth. Craig and Clyde walked down the stairs, with the brunet whining behind Craig about how mean Tricia is. Daisy cleared her throat, trying not to be suspicious but the duo both raised their eyebrows in confusion as they stared at Tolkien and Jason’s hands.
“Why are you guys holding hands?” Clyde innocently asked.
“Because they are boyfriends?” Daisy answered, looking at Craig directly.
“What?!”
Both Clyde and Craig shouted, and Tolkien looked like a deer in headlights. Jason still looked so done while drinking the last drops of his tea.
“What do you mean you guys are boyfriends?” Craig walked up to them, glaring. “You don’t even like each other!”
“Says who?” Jason tilted his head, looking at Craig with such disinterest. “I’m not the one hiding stuff from my own grandmother.”
Craig was taken aback, and he looked at Daisy. She only pursed her lips into a thin line, but she knew that her grandson could practically hear the questions behind her eyes. But before anyone could move or speak, the doorbell rang again.
“Craig,” Daisy started and she felt her heart dropped to her stomach when Craig looked at her with pleading eyes. As if he was already begging her for forgiveness. “Can you get the door, please? I’m going to make some orange juice for you kids.”
“I’ll help!” Clyde yelled, already dashing to the kitchen.
“I’ll wash these cups,” Jason said, no guilt laced into his voice despite practically putting Craig and Daisy in an uncomfortable situation. “Give me your cup, Tolkien.”
“I-It’s probably Jimmy.” Tolkien finally spoke up, bumping his shoulder against Jason with a frown.
Craig nodded, turning his back immediately as he headed towards the door. Daisy sighed softly before walking into the kitchen, smiling at Clyde who already pushed a stool against the cupboards and holding an orange.
While they silently juice the oranges, Daisy couldn’t help but think about what Jason had said. The boy was too honest, but she thought he meant well. But why would Craig not want her to know about his boyfriend? It wasn’t like she wasn't supportive. Maybe Craig felt like she wasn’t?
She closed her eyes for a second before reaching in one of the kitchen cabinets to get a pitcher.
Daisy never wanted that. She never wanted Craig to think she would stop supporting him.
“Hey, du-dudes, what’s cooking?”
4. Jimmy Valmer
“Oh, hey, Jimmy!” Clyde greeted, then turned back to pouring the orange they squeezed into the pitcher.
“Grandma Tucker, you’re he-here!”
Daisy held the pitcher so Clyde wouldn’t accidentally push it off the counter. Turning a little to the side to have a look at the newcomer, she spotted Jimmy. The brunet leaned on his left crutch, before waving at the old woman quickly. She smiled at him, happy to know that Craig’s friends are all sweethearts.
“Would you like a cup of orange juice, dear?”
Jimmy made his way to the chair Daisy was sitting on earlier before nodding at her question. “Yes, please!”
“Clyde, can you be a dear and grab three more cups?”
“On it!” The brunet jumped down from the stool. “Wait, why only three?”
Daisy glanced at Jason and Tolkien. Jason is standing on another spare stool and just finished washing his own cup while Tolkien stands next to him. It seemed they were whispering to one another.
“Jason, Tolkien,” she called for their attention. The two boys turned their heads to her, blinking in confusion. “Are you okay using your cups again?”
They nodded.
From the corner of her eyes, she saw Craig approaching. He was slouching, hands buried deep in his hoodie’s pockets and eyes casted down. To anyone else, it would look like Craig is being himself. But Daisy knew her grandson.
“Craig,”
She walked towards him, then pulled into a tight hug. Craig immediately hugged back.
“I just— I was just really scared you wouldn’t accept me. Us. ”
Daisy closed her eyes, kissing the top of her grandson’s chullo. She pulled him away gently and knelt to look at him at eye level. She cupped his cheeks, rubbing soothing circles on the soft skin.
“Craig, all I want is for you and your sister to be happy and well. You will forever be my grandson, no matter who you like.” She smiled, then placed a kiss on his forehead.
Craig smiled back at her, reaching to hold her hands.
“I’ll tell you who.”
Daisy hummed, standing up. “What if I guessed first? I was already thinking of who could be your potential boyfriend.”
“What?” The noiret laughed, pulling her into the kitchen once more. “You really thought I would be too much of an asshole and I’ll be single?”
“To be fair, your father courted your mother for years before they got together.”
Craig flipped Jason off when he passed him, and the brunet only twirled his orange juice, a half smile painted on his lips. Clyde ran up to them, handing them their cups.
“I’m not gonna be single like Clyde, Grandmama.” Craig teased.
Clyde dramatically gasped, a hand on his chest. Daisy giggled when he grabbed the cup away from her grandson, cheeks puffed in anger.
“How rude! Give me that! You do not deserve orange juice!” Clyde huffed, stomping away to stand next to Tolkien and Jason.
“Okay, you can tell me your guess.”
Craig pulled another seat next to Jimmy, who offered his drink to the noiret since Clyde took away his orange juice privileges. Daisy leaned on the sink, looking at how Craig drank out of Jimmy’s cup without any problem.
“What are we doing?” Tolkien asked, fingers intertwined with Jason’s.
“Guessing who Craig's boyfriend is.” Daisy explained, sipping before looking at Tolkien. “And I already know you and Jason aren’t candidates anymore.”
“Oh?” Jimmy raised a brow, grinning. “Did yo-you finally grew balls and co-confessed, Tolkien?”
“Am I the only one confused about how they got together?” Clyde pouted.
Daisy blinked. “Jason told me Tolkien is his.”
Jimmy threw back his head, laughing heartily. Craig grumbled underneath his breath, but didn’t look as threatening before. Clyde just looked at the apparently new couple with his mouth wide open. Jason looked proud of himself while Tolkien had pulled his collar to cover half of his face.
“Fair pl-play, good sir.” Jimmy raised the glass to Jason.
“I was thinking Clyde would have been a good boyfriend to you, Craig,” Daisy said and Clyde burst out laughing.
“N-No offense, Grandma Tucker,” Clyde wheezed before continuing. “But if I swing both ways, Craig would be the last one on my list.”
“Fuck you too, Clyde.” They flipped one another off, sticking out their tongues. Tolkien could only shake his head in disappointment while Jimmy laughed.
“Jimmy—”
The brunet aforementioned raised his hand and shook his head.
“Single and ha-happy, ma'am.”
“Huh.” Daisy tapped her finger on the glass, thinking. “Is he not in your friend group, Craig?”
“Well—”
The door bell rang again. This time, Daisy stood up straight, placing her drink down. The boys looked at one another and Craig was about to go down to his seat.
“I’ll get it,” she said as she dusted off her clothes. “You boys start eating, we should order some pizza later.”
Daisy walked out of the kitchen, yelling for Tricia from the stairs to come down and have some snacks. After hearing the young lady’s ‘in a minute, Grandmama!’, she headed to the door. She didn't know who was on the other side of the door, but she remembered that one boy who fought Craig years ago. She never got to ask her grandson about him.
Opening the door, she saw a young blond boy. His hair was sticking up in weird directions and the buttons on his clothes were mismatched. Dark circles weigh under his sapphire eyes, and Daisy noticed he was holding on to a paper bag rather tightly. He is staring at him like he is trying to remember a script he memorized.
“Hello there,” she smiled at him. This might be the boy she was trying to remember. “Are you a friend of Craig’s?”
“No.”
Daisy blinked when he forcefully raised his hand. She took it and firmly shook his hand.
“I’m Tweek Tweak, Craig’s boyfriend.” Tweek smiled, showing off his coffee stained teeth. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Grandma Daisy.”
