Robin wasn't the only one to sigh in relief once they reached the Wheeler's house. The large building looked like a fairytale palace compared to what they had all just been through. Vecna was finally gone, after days of watching over Max and fussing over Nancy, the Dark Wizard himself was no more.
The Wheeler parents and Holly weren't home, much to everyone's delight, probably still off looking for the lot of them. It meant that they had somewhere to crash and lay low for a while, stay out of sight until everything calmed down.
Hopper, Joyce, and Murray had arrived not too long ago, the reunion touching as they all found out that Hopper was still alive, especially El, who clung to him with tears in her eyes. The absolute love that spilled from them both created a warm feeling in Robin's chest, spreading throughout her body like hot cocoa on a cold day.
Everyone was shaken up, though, which was evident in the way that everyone stayed close together, some still tense and waiting for something bad to happen. Robin, however, was just tired. She was still feeling a bit jumpy, but otherwise, all she felt was the exhaustion that was slowly taking hold of her.
She just listened as everyone talked; the kids gushing about their recent victory; Steve and Eddie were sitting off to one side, whispering quietly to one another; the adults were in the kitchen, yelling a quiet "cheers" before sipping on their newfound liquor; Jonathan and Argyle were sitting close to the kids, chiming in every once in a while; and Nancy was...Nancy was nowhere to be found.
This sent a pang of panic through Robin, turning around and walking up the stairs to try and find the other girl. She was about to tell the others about Nancy's disappearance when she saw a light flick on in what she remembers to be Nancy's room. Relief overcame her as she walked over to the room, knocking softly on Nancy's door before entering.
Nancy looked like a mess, grime and "Upside Down" still covering her from head to toe. She was kneeling by her closet, sifting through clothes and grabbing what she wanted. She turned to Robin then, handing her a neat pile of clothing which Robin took without question.
"We should all probably get clean before we crash here for the night, you can wear those since I don't suppose you brought any other clothes with you to sleep in," Nancy said with a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"Yeah! Sure! Totally! Um, thanks, for this," Robin exclaimed, mentally face-palming herself for her totally uncool response. Nancy just smiled at her though, a genuine, full-blown smile.
"I'm gonna head back down to fetch Max and El, I probably have some clothes that will fit them. I'll ask Mike to let the other boys borrow clothes from him," Nancy said then, turning and walking out the door before Robin could even think of answering.
When Robin got downstairs, she noticed the absence of the adults and the four older boys. Max informed her that Steve had taken himself and the other three to get stuff from his house before they come back and that the adults only said that they'd be back later.
The four guys arrived not too long after, duffel bags in hand. They had gone to get clothes and medical supplies from Steve's before coming back. Robin took notice of a slight blush on both Eddie and Steve's faces and smiled to herself internally. She was dead wrong when she thought that Nancy and Steve were getting back together.
It was decided that the kids would wash up first before getting checked and treated for injuries. Aside from a few cuts and bruises, the kids seemed relatively fine. It was when the older kids got to washing up and treating themselves that the real injuries were shown. Steve had his bites from the demobats, Nancy had a large cut on her forehead, Robin had a broken finger, and Jonathan and Argyle, well, they were mostly unharmed.
After careful cleaning and patching up, Nancy and Steve decided that they would be in charge of food for the rest. Steve ordered a few large pizzas and Nancy was in the kitchen making hot drinks for the lot.
The kids had moved into the den by then, still talking about the happenings of the previous few days. Robin took notice, though, of how close El and Max were sticking together, practically glued at the hip. Mike and Will were in a similar situation, sitting close to one another as they all continued their talking.
When the pizzas finally arrived, Robin helped Nancy carry the various cups of hot drinks down to the den while Steve and Eddie brought the food. Everyone huddled onto the sofas around the table and grabbed food and drinks for themselves as they continued their conversations.
Robin and Steve were arguing about whether pineapple on pizza was good or not and everyone decided to chime in. Robin couldn't help the warm feeling that spread through her as she watched her friends fighting playfully about the most mundane and normal things when they had all been dead bound not that long ago. It made her feel safe, they all made her feel safe again. She couldn't help but think about how much this misfit group of teens and young adults felt more like family than her real one.
They had all decided that the kids would sleep in the den while Steve and Eddie took Mike's room and Jonathan and Argyle took the Wheeler's parents' room. Nancy and Robin were to sleep in the shorter girl's room and Robin could feel the nervousness that shot through her veins at this statement. She was very much aware of her growing crush on the other girl and couldn't help but feel anxious at the thought of her sleeping next to Nancy.
When they had all settled into their respective rooms, Robin was too aware of the warmth radiating from the person next to her to fall asleep. She twisted and turned, but couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep.
She was busy contemplating whether she should just go crash on the couch downstairs when Nancy turned to face her, her blue eyes glimmering in the moonlight.
"Can't sleep?" she asked, concern and exhaustion lacing her tone. She was looking at Robin with furrowed brows, moving her hand to lay in between their bodies.
"Yeah, sorry, did I wake you?" Robin asked in return, her own eyebrows furrowing in concern.
"No, it's alright, I can't sleep either. I can't help but feel like something bad is going to happen, that this peace we have right now is only temporary," Nancy replied, slightly moving closer to Robin as she finished.
"Yeah, I feel it too, but we can at least be certain that Vecna is gone. The Mindflayer is still out there, but hopefully, for now, we can have some sliver of peace before the next " end of the world" event," Robin chuckled to herself, looking over at Nancy.
She noted that Nancy had moved closer again, so close that she could feel the puffs of air leaving the shorter girl's mouth as she exhaled. Her eyes flicked down to Nancy's lips before flitting back to her eyes. She saw Nancy repeat her actions, her eyes flitting to her lips before moving back to her.
"I don't know if this sounds weird, but, can I kiss you?" Nancy whispered into the night. Robin's brain malfunctioned at that, her breath hitching at the question. All she could manage was a quick jerk of her head, not trusting her voice.
Nancy leaned in then, pressing her lips softly to Robin's. Color erupted behind Robin's eyelids, having closed them when their lips made contact. She felt electricity spark through her body, lighting her up like a Christmas tree. She couldn't believe what was happening. She was kissing Nancy Wheeler, the most badass woman she had ever met.
All too soon though, Nancy was pulling away, releasing Robin from her daze. They stared at each other with soft eyes, all fear and anxiety melted away. Nancy moved closer to the taller girl again, wrapping her arms around her waist as she closed her eyes. Robin opened her arms and Nancy moved even closer, bodies pressed firmly together before Robin enclosed the shorter girl in her arms. Sleep came easy to both girls then, safety and warmth encompassing them as they both drifted off.

Robin awoke to bright sunlight and the smell of coffee, the absence of the body next to her displeasing in the early morning. She shuffled out of bed and padded her way downstairs where she found Nancy in the kitchen brewing coffee, a large number of cups awaiting their respective owners.
"Good morning," Robin murmured. Nancy spun around with a shocked expression before her features became soft again, having come over her momentary surprise. The shorter girl moved over to Robin, placing a soft kiss on her lips, pulling her closer by her neck. Robin reciprocated immediately, wrapping her arms around Nancy's waist, dipping her head to deepen the kiss.
"Good morning," Nancy replied as they pulled away from each other, still holding Robin close. The sound of the kettle whistling caused Nancy to pull away, much to the taller girl's displeasure. This, however, gave her a chance to check up on the others who were in the house. She placed a soft kiss on the top of Nancy's head before making her way back upstairs.
She went to Mike's room first, softly opening the door, expecting a sleeping Eddie and Steve when she realized the room was empty. She moved over to the next room, finding Argyle and Jonathan still asleep, Argyle's arm thrown haphazardly over the other boy's chest, a deep frown set between Jonathan's brows.
She chuckled softly at this before closing the door again, making her way down to the den. The kids were still asleep, all more or less pilled on top of one another. El and Max were tangled together, hands clasped firmly between them; Lucas and Erica were sleeping next to them, swaddled in a blanket so that only their heads were visible; Will was sleeping with his head on Mike's lap, Mike had fallen asleep sitting upright against a couch, his arm lay almost protectively over Will's sleeping form and Dustin was the only one who was actually asleep on the couch, his own arms thrown over his friends as though he was trying his best to hug them all in his sleep.
Robin couldn't help the big smile that took over her face at the sight. She had only known these kids for such a short while, but they had all wormed their ways into her heart. She felt like she would do anything to protect them, she would crawl through the Upside Down, Demogorgons and all, and back for these kids. They were special to her, and that was something that she could never deny.
A rustling caught her attention and she turned her head slowly to see Steve and Eddie asleep on the couch behind her. They were lying close together, pinky fingers linked as they dozed. This must be where they went since they weren't in Mike's room, probably to watch over the kids while they all tried their best to fall asleep.
She smiled softly at them before she made her way back upstairs to the kitchen. Nancy had started making breakfast for everyone by the time Robin made her way over to the shorter girl. She wrapped her arms lazily around the other girl from behind, a warm smile on her face.
"What has you so smiley?" Nancy asked, turning in Robin's arms to wrap her own around her waist, hugging her closer. She smiled up at the taller girl with a softness in her eyes that melted Robin where she stood.
Robin didn't reply as she leaned down, placing a kiss on Nancy's cheek before she repeated the action to the other. She kissed all over the shorter girl's face, causing her to erupt into a fit of giggles. Robin had always wondered what a real family would feel like, but she knew she didn't have to wonder anymore. She had found her family in the group of misfits that they were and she couldn't think that she could ever be happier.
