Summary
“What are you thinking about?” Nancy asks in the dark one night, curling herself around Robin, anchoring her to the world. Like she fears that if she lets go, Robin will fade away into the shadows.
Robin hums, and feels Nancy frown. Then she’s being turned around, until she’s facing Nancy and their noses are brushing. And even though it’s too dark for Nancy to be able to see her, Robin feels oddly vulnerable, like Nancy has night vision and can see her despite the darkness.
Maybe she can, it wouldn’t surprise Robin.
Soft, warm lips press against her own, just once. But when they leave, they don’t go far, hovering less than an inch away.
“Do you ever want to disappear?” Robin finally asks, cringing as she says it.
Nancy is silent for a moment, “Where do you want to disappear to, Love?”Or
Robin has always wanted to disappear, until she met Nancy.

Robin has a moment of confusion when she thinks she might have forgotten that it’s Halloween before she realises that the person standing before her —with eyes that look like all the graves have opened — is, in fact, Nancy Wheeler.

These plans are scuppered when her very best friend Steve Harrington does something stupid and enlists, leaving her in charge of his farm. It’s all going about as well as can be expected when Nancy Wheeler turns up on the doorstep in the middle of the night, fresh from the fight: a little battered, a little broken and needing some help to put herself back together.
