Matchmaker Miya

Summary:

After going back home, while laying on his bed, Miya decides that he has had enough.

He has had enough of needing to experience Langa being head over heels for his best friend, and Reki being unconsciously so in love with him while somehow still thinking he's straight.

Does Reki even realize that holding hands with your best bro when you walk isn't very heterosexual of him?

He's so done.

He's so done, that he just NEEDS them to finally get together, or he will lose his mind.

He needs to make a plan for that, so the two of them finally stop bothering him.

Or:

Reki and Langa are obliviously in love with each other, so Miya decides to make a plan, team up with Langa, and end their pining shit.

Notes:

A little TW for abandonment issues, there's a moment where I talk about Miya's childhood, but I made some warnings so you can skip it.

There's also a moment at the end where Miya is feared of being alone, so if you are very sensitive in this topic, please read with caution!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It's been a while since these two have been this annoying.

Miya is truely exhausted with them acting like lovebirds all the time, which makes him want to GAG sometimes.

I mean, they're not (somehow) together or anything like that, it's just that there's this something between them, something that is definitely not-so-platonic.

Even now, Reki is staring at Langa performing some new tricks as he put the stars in the sky, at the skatepark they always hang out at.

Reki and Langa usually spend time with only two of them if they're not at S, but sometimes Miya decides to join them when he walks back from school, since he passes the spot while on his way home, and has nothing better to do.

And still, even though they had definitely spent enough time together today, even NOW, they still need to act all lovey-dovey.

"The slime looks like he's about to drool, when he's staring at Langa with those sparkly eyes. Why can't he stop thinking about Langa for a moment?" thinks Miya, looking at the redhead in utter disgust as he lovingly watches his best friend.

"You need something, Miya?" Reki asks, noticing the look of distaste on the kid's face.

"You're so disgusting." He replies, to which Reki frowns in confusion.

"Why?"

Is he really that dumb?

"Because you're looking at Langa like he's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen."

"Because he is! Dude, didn't you see? His tricks are amazing! He looks so pr- I mean cool! Damn, sometimes I think I could just watch him forever…" Reki admits, a dreamy expression showing up on his face.

"Ah- I DIDN'T MEAN IT IN A WEIRD WAY-" he clears, his face going red.

So annoying.
"How can you live in such ignorance?" Miya thinks, after giving him a disappointed look without saying anything.

And THEN, he hears Langa encountering them.

"Reki! Did you see that new trick I just made?" Says the blue haired boy, his eyes glimmering.

"Yeah dude! It was awesome! Damn bro, you always find new ways to amaze me!" Replies Reki, shifting all his concentration on Langa now, who softly smiles back, and blushes a little at Reki's excitement.

Miya watches them drift into their own world, as he decides that he can't let Langa have all the attention. Langa had Reki for the whole day now, and when Miya finally gets to talk alone with him, Langa still manages to take it away.

Not like Miya's jealous of Langa getting all of Reki's attention or something like that.
Not at all.

Okay, maybe he's a LITTLE jealous, but Reki always treats him like his little brother, so it's HIS fault, not Miya's.

"Slimeee!..." He clings onto him, waiting for a response, while trying to come up a quick excuse for calling him out in the first place. "You haven't seen my newest game for my Mintendo Bitch yet!"
(Authors note: I really tried to fight the urge to not call it just like Miya's English VA did, but I couldn't resist it.)

"Huh? Why all of a sudden? Didn't Cherry take your console after the last time you cussed next to him?" He reminds the boy.

"But..." Miya trails off, and tightens the grip on Reki's waist, trying to pull off his best puppy dog eyes.

But then HE walks in again.

"Stop bothering Reki about your games again…" Langa grumbles quietly.

Ouch. This one actually kinda hurt.
Langa knows that Miya doesn't really have any other friends to show his games to.

Miya watches Reki's eyes widen at Langa in shock, later turning into a little anger, but before he can say anything, Miya shouts:

"Well then, why don't YOU find some other stupid friends to skate with!"

Langa frowns, comes closer, and opens his mouth.
"Well, but-" he starts, but before he can finish, a jumpy pop song starts playing.

An awkward silence steps in, the music still ringing from Reki's phone.
(little does Reki know what the raunchy lyrics mean, but Langa doesn't have the courage to tell him.)

He excuses himself, and quickly runs under a nearby tree, to answer the phone call.

Now Miya and Langa are left alone, in an extremely awkward silence, with only a muffed lecture (from someone who's probably Reki's mom) coming out from his phone, and his fruitless attempts to calm her down, audible from the distance, as they watch him struggle.

A not-so-brief moment passes, as Miya finally gets blessed by gods to hear something other than the redhead’s mumbling in the background.

"Sorry..." Langa gives out a quiet, almost silent whisper under his breath.

"Eh?" Miya jerks, surprised that Langa even said something. He never really got along with him. Or more like they tried not to step in each other's way, until Langa's crush on Reki started to get out of hand, just a little. They also never really talk to each other, especially when there's only two of them.

"For saying what I said earlier…I should've thought before I said it... " he tries to explain, head down, looking at the ground.
He's surely apologizing just because Reki gave him that look earlier.

"Gosh, you're so annoying. Not only have you not confessed to him, but you also act like he's only yours," says Miya in his annoyed voice, half-teasing, half-serious, looking at Reki gesticulating to the phone, something that probably means: "but you didn't tell me!"

...

After a brief moment of silence, Miya looks at Langa, waiting for some kind of response.
He's still in the same position, hair covering his face, but his ears are burning pink.

"Oh wait, I forgot, this dumbass thought I didn't know about his crush on Reki. Guess it kinda slipped out of my mouth." Miya reconsiders.

"H-how did you know?!" Langa manages to say after a while, still pretty low, his voice cracking a little.

Miya stares at him in disbelief.

He's an actual fucking dumbass. An absolute moron.

Miya was aware of the fact that Langa never really said anything about liking Reki, but did Langa really think no one could see the way he looks at Reki whenever he's talking about skating? The way he blushes when Reki gets a little too close, or gives him one of those typical, dumb, wide grins he always does?
Even Cherry and Joe know about Langa's big fat crush on Reki, but even after many pleas and complaints, they told Miya to keep his mouth shut.

Miya hoped Langa had at least once considered the possibility of others knowing about his feelings.

But no.

This idiot just sits here, face red, wondering, and trying to calculate in his small brain how his actions even betrayed him.

"What an absolute fucking dumbass." He thinks, still looking at Langa with that disbelief.

Miya still remembers how Reki bragged something through text after that, something about Langa's hand being "so warm and nice" and how he "wishes he can hold hands with someone this way in the future" for nearly two hours, and then cluelessly asking Miya what he meant by asking if he "knows what does he feel towards Langa after all".

This was an actual event, which happened 2 weeks ago. At first, Reki grabbed Langa's hand only because he wanted to show him something, but then they stayed like this till the end of "S" that night.

Miya had needed to cope with all the endless messages sent by Reki at 1 am after that.

FOR NEARLY TWO FUCKING HOURS.

He's so done.

He's so done, that he just NEEDS them to finally get together, or he will lose his mind.
He needs to make a plan for that, so the two of them finally stop bothering him.

Not like he also just wants Reki to feel happy, and more appreciated, not at all.

- - -

The next day, just as he arrives at "S" with Shadow, he walks straight up to Langa.

Ugh.

He's looking at him with this disgusting look on his face, while Reki talks about god-knows-what, eyes sparkling.

"Oh, hey Miya! Sorry, didn't see ya there." Reki finally notices him, and laughs bashfully.

"Of course you didn't notice me, you're with Langa. When you talk to Langa about something you like, he gives you that stupid look on his face, and then you can't see the world except HIM."

Thinks Miya, but doesn't say anything. He looks up, frowning at Langa, who's clearly avoiding his gaze.

"And you are just an absolute moron."

Today's Reki's 54th attempt to get to race Cherry, because since the last time he won a beef with Shadow, he seems certain that he can compete against the AI nerd.
Sure, Reki's skills have gone better, but Miya won't say to Reki that he doesn't stand a chance, because he just doesn't want to be the one to cheer the redhead up, after triggering a scar to open about "not being good enough".

It's not like he thinks that he could MAYBE stand a chance if it was in the rain.

And that he doesn't want him to get too self-conscious again, because "S" was so empty without him, and it's not like he really missed him back then.

IT'S NOT LIKE HE ACTUALLY DOES CARE ABOUT HIM, OKAY?

Miya took Langa to the nearest empty corner, and was ready to share his plan.
He worked on it the whole day, writed every detail, considered every possibility.

"Listen, I'm so done with you and Reki acting like this." He starts.

Langa freezes in dismay.

"NO, I won't tell him. OHMYGOD. I have made a decision that I'll help you to finally spill those words out, because it seems like you'll never have the courage to do it on your own." Miya continues, crossing his arms.

Langa doesn't say anything, so Miya just assumes it means he should go on.

God, if this is how they will continue to communicate, there's no way this will work out.

"Valentine's Day is just a few days ahead, so I thought it's a perfect occasion to confess your feelings. You'll write a letter, and slip it into Reki's locker. End of story."

"Okay...I could do that I guess..." Says Langa, as Miya continues to explain.

"Then, you'll text me what he said. Oh wait, you don't even have my phone number, do you? Wait, I'll add myself to friends on your Facebook. I've sent you an invitation like ages ago, but you never added me back."

Langa watches the catboy as he steals his phone from his pocket, and starts tapping something on the device.

"Here. I've made a group chat only for us," says Miya, as he holds the phone back to its owner.

"Operation 'Snow-fall'???" He asks.

"That's how I named group chat dumbass. On this chat we will communicate about my plan!" Miya explains proudly.

"Oh okay..." Langa responds with a lack of any enthusiasm, and quickly shoves his phone back into his pocket, as he sees Reki encountering them.

Spoiler Alert: Cherry didn't want to compete with Reki, again.

The next day, just before heading out to school, Miya quickly writes Langa on their new group chat.

Miya( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 7:32 am
-do u have the letter ready?

Slime #2, 7:35 am
-Yes.
-Wait, why is my name "Slime #2"?

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 7:38 am
-bc thauts what u are

Slime #2, 7:45 am
-Oh, okay.
-*that's

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 8:02 am
-oh shut up u slime

Miya couldn't wait for school to end.
The school day was boring as always, nothing interesting happening, and he was not going to talk to his stupid classmates.
Why can't school go by quicker?
It's not like he was excited about the confession or anything, he just wanted to have all this clownery over and be done with it.
Just as he walked out of school, he texted Langa again.

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 2:36 pm
-how did it go?

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 2:51 pm
-did u give it to him?

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 4:02 pm
-answear me u slime >:((
(One missed call from: Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ))
-dont ignore me
-u asshole

Why did Langa not answer? He couldn't possibly forget about the group chat already, right?
Miya hoped he at least didn't forget to hide the letter in Reki's locker.

Langa could actually be capable of forgetting even something like that.

"Why didn't you text me back?! I need to know his answer!" Miya hisses at Langa, as soon as they're alone in some alley at "S".

"He didn't answer..." Says Langa, sadness in his voice, and looks down.

"What do you mean by 'he didn't answer'?! What the hell happened?!"

If Reki saw the letter, he must have at least asked Langa about it.

Right?

"He thought it was an anonymous letter." Langa explains
"I left it in his locker after the first period, but when he read it, he didn't seem to know who the author was."

Wait.

"Didn’t you write your name on the letter?" Miya asks in disbelief.

"No, why would I?" He answers confused.

Miya is really starting to get worried about Langa's level of intelligence.

He assumed he did consider every possibility, except this one.

But who do you blame, when you have to deal with such idiots?

- - -

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 1:03 am
-ok time for plan b

Slime #2, 1:05 am
-You have a plan B?

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 1:06 am
-ofcorse I do I was prepaired for you to fuck up plan A before, but not the way u did
-lets meet @ the coffe shop near dope sketch around 7 am

Slime #2, 6:54 am
-Okay, I'm heading out.

Miya was already waiting at the coffee table when Langa showed up. He's actually surprised that the blue airhead managed to get up so early, since (assuming from his baggy eyes), it wasn't an easy task for him.

He really looks exactly like an actual gooey, blue slime right now.

"G'moooon'n…" He says, midway yawning.

"Sup slime. I'm surprised you managed to get your ass out of bed this early. Though I guess you're still better at this than the other slimy loser."

"Reki's not aaa-loooser…" Langa tries to argue, yawning again.

"Whatever. Just get your shit together now, because I don't have all day to wait for you to finally wake up."

After Langa drinks a cup or two of espresso, he wakes up a little.

Wow, that's a lot of caffeine.
Now Miya is starting to worry about Langa's heart condition too.

He's still not fully awake, but at least he's more conscious than he was minutes ago.

We're slowly getting there.

Good thing that Miya starts school at 9:45 am today, because otherwise he wouldn't be able to make any progress with the plan.
He waits for the caffeine to wake up Langa's peanut-sized brain, as a small bug flies by.

"OHMYGOD A BEE-" Langa shouts at the insect, going completely pale.

"JEEZ, CALM DOWN, IT'S JUST A BEE, YOU AREN'T BLEEDING OR ANYTHING-" Miya yells, but instantly regrets it, as he watches Langa faint, just at the word 'bleeding'.

As Langa's arms go a little numb, he hits the coffee cup and spills out the rest of what was left from the espresso right onto his pants. Thank god it was only a cold last sip left, god knows what could happen if it wasn't.

At least this distracts Langa from fainting dramatically at a fucking bee, even if that doesn't change the fact his clothing is all soaked with the dark brown liquid now.

"Oh god. Maybe working with this idiot wasn't a good idea after all…"
Miya thinks, as Langa runs back home to change.
Maybe for now, Miya will take things in his own hands, because Langa seems to be the type that could ruin everything just in a blink of an eye.

He'll just maybe explain his plan B to Langa through a phone call.

- - -

"Hello?" Langa sounds confused.

"Hi slime. You didn't give me a chance to tell you my plan, so I'm calling now," says Miya.

"Oh."

"So, I thought before, that if the first idea failed somehow, (and somehow it did), we would need to go a little further. You need to ask him out in person, so nothing won't get misunderstood." Miya says firmly.

"...Langa?" He speaks again since there's no response, probably the first time Miya called Langa by his name in a while.

"I-I don't know if I'm capable of doing that already, Miya-" he struggles, but Miya cuts him before he could finish.

"You're gonna ask him out, and finally stop bothering me, or you can be a pussy, and never get your shit together." He briefly explains, not holding back at any of the words.

"Ok… But… Will you support me? Like, you know… Hide somewhere, and give me thumbs up, like in films?"

Langa truly does sometimes act like a 5 year old. No wonder Reki calls him a "big-baby", not even mentioning the fact that with Reki, Langa totally melts, and lets Reki baby him even more.

At least the blueberry-boy knows how to use his chance, once in his life.

" Urghhh, fine…" Miya groans, "But only this one time tho! If you somehow get to screw things up again, I'm gonna punch you right in your stupid face." he says, and for some reason Langa smirks, but Miya decides to ignore it.

- - -

Saturday, 11:30 am, at the front of DOPE SKETCH.

It's the day. Miya and Langa have spent the last week focused on their plan.
Yes, their plan. Langa had put some actual effort into it, so Miya decides that this time, he deserves at least just a little credit for it.

Okay, maybe more than a little, Langa actually was the one writing all the things, because Miya has dyslexia, and he definitely didn't use it as an excuse to play Animal Crossing, while Langa was working his ass off, making the notes.

Miya still didn't catch that one, rare, seasonal fish, but he can't blame it on karma, since he did agree (with a big discouragement obviously), to listen to Langa's pining on Reki for NEARLY 30 minutes in exchange.

But Miya still made some cute drawings on the notes! ! And he also used that one math teacher's advice, a teacher he actually likes, since she said it helps with memorizing and stuff.

Langa still wrote in English though, because his Japanese handwriting is something that makes Cherry look like he's going to faint at any moment when he sees it.

He actually did one time. Joe quickly caught him in panic, forgetting about the fact that he was dressed in his pajamas at Kaoru's house, running out from the bedroom.

But Cherry said to never bring it up again after that, so we won't talk about that.

They have also played ONLY A LITTLE of some Miya's video games, just about 5 hours, before Langa was heading back home at 4am.

It was kinda fun, Miya needs to admit that.

But today, they will see if their effort was really worth it. Hopefully Langa doesn't screw this one up, just like he did with his letter.

This time they made a list of things he could say, just in case he forgets what he was about to say, or when an extremely awkward silence decides to break in.

They seem to be prepared for whatever could happen, but god-knows-what Langa could be capable of.

Anyway, there's no turning back now.

Langa is already standing in front of the skate shop, wearing something that he actually thought about before putting it on, so he looks somewhat presentable.

Miya is already behind the corner, making sure everything is okay, to see the whole situation from behind, to somehow support Langa when he's in a struggle, and pop up, saying something like "Wow, you two really look like you're on a date here", totally-not-on-purpose.

And Reki is already walking up to Langa, waving to him enthusiastically.

Now there's really no turning back.

Miya saw the way Langa jumped when he saw him, wiping his sweaty hands into his pants a little.
The little boy leans closer, so he can hear their conversation more clearly.

"D-damn dude, those clothes really suit you! Heh- I guess you're just so- h-handsome in everything…" Says the redhead, visibly stunned at Langa's new look.
In a good way.

He's still rubbing the back of his head, absolutely unaware of the way Langa froze and how his skin turned to a dangerously hot, pink shade in the matter of seconds.

Reki really may need to go get glasses soon, because it's crazy how he doesn't notice the way Langa just MELTED right in front of him.

Miya really should have brought a plastic bag with him.

"Ah-... Uh-" the blue haired boy starts to panic. Miya can see it through the way he squeezed his fists tight behind him.

"Oh, uh… So why did you call me over here? Something happened?" Reki says, still a little brush of red on his cheeks, with a little sign of worry in his eyes now.

"W-ell-" Langa starts, but quickly cuts off. "I wondered… If- I wondered if you would like-" he managed to get the courage to actually look up at the boy's face.

But then suddenly it became clear that it was a bad idea.

Langa PANICKED.

"Iwonderedifyoucouldhelpmewiththatoneessayweabsolutelydohave,andimnottryingtolieandchangethetopic-" he says in one breath.

Miya is really impressed that Reki actually understood what Langa was saying.
But maybe it shouldn't be so surprising, since the redhead could easily beat this timing.

Reki looks at him looking kinda… uh- disappointed?

"Of course dude, I'll always help you with anything, you know that? You don't need to be so formal about this all off the sudden, 'kay?"

"...Thanks…" Langa smiles awkwardly, absolutely mortified, as Miya face-palms so hard, he worries he might have made an actual hole in his head.

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 4:17 pm
-we talked out evry detail
-we made a list of things to say when u panic
-we practissed so many fucking times
- and u still manadged to fuck things up.

Slime #2, 4:22
-I panicked.

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 4:24
-tell me some thing i dont know

Slime #2, 4:24
-Reki probably knows how much you actually care about him.

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 4:26
-shut the fuck up u lying motherfucker of corse i dotn

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 4:31
-hey dont leave me at read
-u fucking slimeeee >:###
-URGHHHH

This was truly hopeless. Neither of them did a good job with their feelings, and Miya was in the middle of it, having to deal with Langa, who apparently needed to go back to kindergarten to learn how to speak properly again, and with Reki, who has absolutely no idea about what Langa was going through, back then at the front of DOPE SKETCH.
How is he THAT clueless???

Doesn't he realize how miserable Langa must be now? And Miya can't even help it, because how the fuck should he cheer up a boy with a broken heart, when he has never been in love before???

Does Reki not have at least some brain left? He must have some, because otherwise he would be dead.
Or maybe he just doesn't want to see it?

Wait.

It might be a good idea to ask him some completely innocent questions about Langa, to at least get a hang of what might be going on in there, to see if Reki is at least a little aware of his feelings towards Langa.

Yes, that sounds like it might actually work.

He's not anywhere near taking Langa with him though, since he has learned two times now that Langa's presence won't make it any easier. This time he will try to do this on his own.

- - -

"Hey slime, I need to talk to you. " says Miya, entering Sia la Luce.

"When will you stop calling me that, Miya? Man, don't you have any better nicknames?"

"I can call you a troll instead, if that's what you want." He smirks

"No thanks. I think I'd rather be a slime than that." He politely declines, frowning at him, annoyed "So what do you actually need? If it's just money for a game again, you can head straight back home."

"It's about how L-..." He wants to say, but remembers Cherry's raw voice saying to better keep his tongue tied. And he's not very keen on getting to know how Cherry would react if he didn't.

"It's about how you feel about Langa. You have been acting even dumber than usual lately." Miya somehow tries to get to the point without spilling the whole truth out. He needs Reki to realize it himself, but it's harder that it actually looks.

"M-me?! It's you and Langa who have been the ones just acting weirder and weirder each day for the past two weeks!" Reki is already blushing, and refuses to look Miya in the eyes, taking a sip of the water in his cup.

"Whatever. Your complaining is not what I'm here for." Miya explains, sitting next to Reki behind the counter. "I want to know how you truly feel about Langa."

The redhead spits out the water he's drinking, and nearly falls off his chair.

Miya tries to catch the amber gaze again, showing that he's not letting Reki get away with it.

The atmosphere gets tense, thanks to Miya changing his glare at Reki from his normal bratty look to a very serious one.

Reki can't stand the pressure around them at some point, and finally breaks, just as Miya intended.

"Well, I- I guess we're just best friends, like, just two best bros being bros and hangin' around together, if that's what you're concerned about…" Says Reki sheepishly, scratching his neck.

"...And nothing else?"

Reki freezes a little.
But then he just turns away, quickly takes his things, but as he's about to leave he thinks a little, and says:

"I like girls if that's what you're concerned about."

"So you like Langa just the friend way?" Miya asks, just to be sure.

But Reki just laughs and leaves.

-"WAIT U SLIME, YOU DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION-" Miya tries to stop him, but fails.
Sussy.
He didn't even really try to deny it, like he normally would...

"What's going on here?!" Says Joe, walking out from the kitchen.

Shit- Miya totally forgot Joe was still here. Good thing that he's closed by this time, or Miya would get scolded by Cherry about yelling in the restaurant again.

And Cherry's fan can REALLY hurt.

Reki was supposed to clean the restaurant today, since he had lost against the muscle-man again, but this time Joe doesn't seem to care about the teenager being long gone right now.

Something tells Miya that Joe and his abs must have noticed the concerned look on his face, since Joe's staring at him right now, with a worried expression on his face.

"Something happened kid?" He asks gently.

Miya likes when Joe talks this way. The deep voice while he talks low is so soothing. It almost sounds like an owl.

"They're hopeless dad…" he responds, burying his face in his arms, half laying on the counter now.

(Authors note: Here I wrote little about Miya and his son-parent relationship with Joe and Cherry. It has some mentions of abandonment issues, so you can skip to the next bracket, if you're sensitive about this topic, or want to skip bc it's a little angsty even if it's only about the past that's sad)

Miya has never been close with his biological parents. They were absent in most of his childhood memories. He barely even remembers them being present in his early years. He only remembers the emptiness and the fear of abandonment, as they were about to head over on another long business trip, and he needed to stay with the babysitter he hated so much. Not like she was mean or something, it just wasn't the same. He wanted his PARENTS to put him into sleep, cuddle with him, and comfort him, whenever he felt down or sad. That's why even if they're at least there a little more now, he doesn't even want to get close to them by now.

They never seemed to be bothered about it either.

That's why he sees Joe and Cherry as parental figures, the ones his biological parents were supposed to be. Always there for him.

That's why he even calls them "dad" right now. It started off as a joke, but now it's just a regular thing to do for Miya, and they don't seem to be bothered about it, maybe even actually pleased.

But he's scared that the two of them don't actually feel the same about him.

Maybe they're doing it only from pity?

Maybe they don't actually love him-

"You there my boy?" Joe wakes him up from his thoughts. "I think you should sleep now. Wanna stay over at Sia la Luce tonight?"

Miya nods quietly, rubbing his eyes.
He guesses the sleep made him feel all sappy and stuff.

Sometimes Miya is scared of sleeping alone.

It reminds him of the times when he was waking up at nights, crying, panicking, as he realizes he's alone again.

That's why Joe's restaurant is a safe place for him.

Upstairs, there's a little room Joe used before as an attic, but now it's Miya's second little bedroom. Joe said he could sleep, or just sit there whenever he felt down, or just felt like it.

Even if Cherry is kind of a strict type of parent, he has a soft spot too. He helped Miya arrange the little room, to make him feel at home. Not his house, but home, where he could run away from all the bad things that chased him.

In those times, Cherry would sometimes enter the safe bubble around Miya, let him lay on his lap, and pet his head, the way Miya loves so much. He always kisses his forehead, when he sees Miya falling asleep in peace.

Cherry always manages to make Miya feel at least a little bit better.

(Authors note: Okay, that's everything if you wanted to skip, I just wrote that Miya hangs out at sia la luce a lot, and how Joe and Cherry are his parental figures, and about that they are always there for him)

- - -

Miya was about to give up on the whole "operation snow-fall" thing. It took way too much of his time and effort, the hard work not even paying off in any way.

He's ready to go to court, demand a refund.

A refund hopefully in the form of a new console game.

He's just too exhausted with trying to come up with more plans, since they still never seem to be good enough.

Langa's stupid ass manages to fail them, no matter how good they are.

He'll just take his earplugs everywhere he goes, so he doesn't need to listen to Langa's pining about Reki anymore.

Why didn't he think about it earlier? What did even encourage him to try so hard for them to get together? He can't figure it out.

It's not like it's kinda depressing to see Langa love Reki so much, and not be able to at least let his feelings finally all out.

Or maybe it is… Miya doesn't have the energy to deny it at this point.

- - -

The next day Miya doesn't even bother to wait for "S" anymore, he just walks straight to Reki and Langa's school, to officially announce that the game is over to the blueberry-boy.

Oh, okay, he sees them at the school rooftop.

Oh.

Oh.

Miya at first thought he just encountered the classic 'Langa, some-random-girl who probably was confessing to him, and Reki just waiting for him to come back as always, like Langa didn't just friendzoned another girl for the thousand time' scene, but oh.

This time it's different.

It's different because it's the other way around, but… damn.

Damn, Langa looks like he's about to drop dead.

This view scared the shit out of Miya when he first saw him.

Langa doesn't react to Miya walking past him, he just continues to blankly stare at the cement floor, as the catboy tries to get a glance at the girl who made Langa look so horrified.

"She doesn't look that scary…" he thinks, looking back at Langa who really looks like he's at the edge of utter despair.

He pokes him with a stick from a safe distance, just in case this shit was contagious.

"She's so beautiful…" Langa says, his voice shaky.

"I thought you were gay?" Miya looks at him with even more confusion.

OHHH THE DOTS HAVE CONNECTED NOW, OF COURSE LANGA IS JUST DEADLY JEALOUS.

Recently there have been a few situations where Langa looked liked he's about murder any girl who even dared to just touch Reki, even if Langa was trying to hide that behind a smile.

Thankfully, Reki finally comes back, and Langa's soul seems to have returned to his body, as he quickly turns around to him, blurting out a "What did she tell you???"

"She was asking about you, obviously, if you dated anyone…" Reki says sheepishly, sounding a little hurt "I guess it was stupid of me to think someone might like me"

But Langa's stupid ass just cutted him of with an loud "Ooooofff…", of relief he wasn't even trying to hide at this point, instead of at least trying to deny what Reki said, like he isn't just standing next to him right now, probably thinking about the whole how much he's not "good enough ", again, instead, Langa just heavily leaned on the wall, letting out a big breath out.

Miya glared at him in disbelief.

Seriously Langa? You had the perfect occasion to confess and make him feel better at the same time-

Wait.

Then it hit him.

A genius plan.

A genius plan that will finally acknowledge Reki's feelings, get Langa to confess to him, and even maybe save some of Reki's self-esteem left.

Maybe there's still some hope for these two after all?

- - -

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 1:36 am
-BLUEBERRY SLIME I HAVE A GENIUS PLAN

Slime #2, 1:52 am
-We both know I will end up embarrassing myself again.

Miya ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 1:57 am
-THIS ONES DIFERENT I PROMISE
-PLEASE AT LEAST HEAR ME OUT

Slime #2, 2:01 am
-Ok, but make it quick, before I fall asleep.

Miya just feels that this time it will work out.

Somehow.
Maybe.

- - -

Reki heads out to school as always, but he feels like he might just fall asleep right at the spot any time.

He never had a good sleep schedule, but somehow someone managed to make it even worse.

Guess who it was.

Yeah, it was LANGA, what did you even expect?

The last night had been-
…Pretty chaotic.

Well, It's not the first time Langa keeps Reki awake at night. There have been a few times it happened before, like that one time in the skatepark, when they finally talked things out and promised each other to skate together for infinity.
God, hearing Langa say all those nice things about Reki really embarrassed him for some reason.
Not in a bad way though, it felt nice to hear all those compliments from Langa, so nice that it made Reki's heartbeat fasten a little bit.

This time, it started when he had read a thousand different articles about the meaning of dreams, but none of them really seemed to answer his question.

"Is it normal to dream about technically marrying your best bro in the tale of Cinderella?"

The first thing that showed up was an article called "10 signs you might have a crush on your best friend."

Reki was never gonna click it.
Why the hell would he? This article wasn't even about dreams.
Besides, he would know if he had a crush on Langa, it can't be that hard to realize a thing like that.

Why was It the first thing that popped up though? He could at least give it a chance, just from curiosity.

Nah, there was no way this article was genuine.

He does like girls after all, and there's no denying on that, so it's not possible that wanting sometimes to date your best friend was kinda sus-

Fuck, go back.

That's not possible, he likes girls, he will probably find a girlfriend sometime, and marry her in the future.

But maybe he'll just check it just one more time-

"God, it feels so weird to do this, Koyomi is the one who always makes those stupid personality quizes, and here I am, doing one from my free will, about being GAY.
Am I going crazy?"
He thinks, quickly searches something, and starts doing a random sexuality test-

What the heck is "bi"?
Is this some new kind of sauce?
Or a new way for Miya to mispronounce the word "bee"? He would be capable of doing that.

And what in the world is this whole LGBT cult, he had never heard of this thing before in the whole 17 years of his existence.

What do they even do there?

Be gay?

He quickly googles "what does being bi mean".

OH FUCK.

OH GOD, FUCK, OH NO, JESUS CHRIST.

"THAT'S ALLOWED? YOU CAN DO THAT??? IF YOU ACTUALLY CAN, THEN-"
Reki screams in his head, thankfully not out loud, throwing his phone immediately.

His face is BURNING, and he didn't really visualize it clearly yet.

SO REKI WAS RIGHT AFTERALL.
SO IT IS POSSIBLE.
SO THERE'S NO EXCUSE NOW.

He glances at the mirror, just in case to see if it isn't actually on fire.

LMAO HE LOOKS LIKE A TOMATO

WAIT-

No no no no no no no
This isn't the right time to laugh-

This can't be true right?

He's screwed.
He's totally screwed.
Now that he's SURE about liking Langa, he's going to die the next time he sees him.

What the fuck was he supposed to do now with this new information that is causing him to lose his mind?

- - -

He skates to school alone today, since Langa said he "won't be able to make it in time, but they can meet at the rooftop."

Weird, but he actually feels kind of relieved by that because of yesterday's incident.

Why, though? He tried to ask him, but gave up after a quick consideration that Langa won't tell him, if he doesn't want to.
Langa is very good at keeping secrets, which sometimes pisses Reki off.

Just like now.

Before he even realizes, he's already at school.

But something blue catches his eye.
Some blue hair, strangely familiar and some long black unknown streaks waving next to it in the wind??

Oh, it's just Langa probably getting another confession.
But it's alright, because Langa will probably dump her, as always, so Reki doesn't have to worry-

What the fuck.
Why the fuck Langa was smiling at that bitch.

Reki already had enough drama in his brain last night, and now this???

Why the fuck Langa was touching her ugly, black hair??!

Why the fuck is he smiling at that girl.

He never smiled at any of them, so why now-

Now that's just not fair.
How is it fair to see this shit, the day after you realize you've been gay for your best friend for like-
5 months?

Unconsciously?

No, now that he's sure, he won't let her take Langa away, never. Afterall, they promised infinity to each other, right?

But he can't be so possessive over Langa.
Langa has the full right to do what he wants, and be happy, so he has the full right to get a girlfriend.
But still…

Thinking about being separated from Langa hurts.

"Now or never." Reki thinks, as he proceeds to run towards them.

- - -

"What the fuck just happened." Miya thinks, laying on the ground.

It takes a while for Reki to analyze what just happened.

"OH FU- OH SHI-, OH MY GOD-"
Reki yells, and squats, hands covering his mortified face.

- - -

"Ok slime, are you ready?" Says Miya, as he puts on the cheap wig on his head.

"Ready…!" Langa replies, still a little nervous, but determined.

This is the plan of success.
This is gonna work out.

God, please someone make this work out.

It's 7:30 am, and it's Miya's Langa's 3rd attempt at the "operation snow-fall", hopefully this one being the successful one.

So, the plan is that they'll perform some real epic drama, right here at the school rooftop.

Miya dressed up as a girl, wearing definitely-not-Koyomi's school uniform Miya borrowed from her.

They will perform an act, where Miya pretends to be some girl confessing to Langa, and when Reki comes to school and notices them, Miya will start insulting Reki, and then Langa will defend him, and say how he feels about him, just so Reki can hear it, and BOOM, then Reki knows how Langa feels about him, and he will finally admit that he likes him too, without Langa needing to confess to him personally.

"You need to add more feel into it!" Miya scolds.

"I'm trying to-" Says Langa, confused on what he is possibly doing wrong.

Langa is not the best actor, and Miya knew it from the start.

"Okay let's try again." He says, fixing his dress "Try to really imagine me as one of those mean girls talking shit about Reki"

"Uhhh… Okay… So you start right?" Asks Langa.

"Yep, and as soon as I can spot Reki walking up the stairs to find you we will do it for real." Miya explains. "Remember we need to look like we're in the middle of a conversation okay?"

Langa notices that Miya is openly having fun while acting. He said he actually attended drama classes when he was younger. It sure makes a lot of sense why Miya is so good at it on a daily basis. Acting is surely a big part of teasing people.

"WhAt's sO spEciaL aBout REKI that YoU like HIM betTer thAn ME?!" Miya says in his best "girl" voice he can possibly make.

"Uh!-" Langa stops at first, trying not to laugh at Miya's voice, but then decides to go on, trying to imagine he's actually trying to defend Reki from some mean girl. "Y-you can't say that! Reki is an amazing person, he's so talented, and nice and, and-- He made me have fun again. H-he makes me feel happy.
He is my happiness…"

Miya starts to laugh, and Langa realizes he might have said too much, or at least too open.

"Hahahaha! You sound so cringy saying all of those things, haha!" Miya laughs so hard, his wig falls off a little. "Hehe, you really like him, don't you slime?" Miya says, teasingly.

But Langa doesn't get annoyed, instead helps Miya to fix his wig, and responds:

"Yeah…" his eyes soften as he says it.

But before Miya can say anything back, he feels a hand push him away.

"Don't bother him. He's not your boyfriend." Says the hand, who turns out to be no one other than Reki, taking Langa's hand to pull him away.

Miya trips a little from the push (Reki is actually much stronger than he looks, his arms are pretty buff, and he knows it, because Langa has been simping over them for weeks now), and falls to the ground.

Oop- his wig fell off.

Reki's eyes widen in shock, as he turns redder than a fucking crayon.

"OH FU- OH SHI- OH MY GOD-
MIYA, WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

Um-- well, this is interesting.

"I COULD ASK YOU THE SAME QUESTION SLIME! WHAT THE FUCK!" He yells back, standing up from the ground.

Langa just stands there, still processing what happened.

"NO- Like- SERIOUSLY what is going on here?!" Reki asks, his face literally matching his hair at this point

"OHMYGOD, I'm done with your shit guys, I'm done with your stupidity, and I'm done with your romance drama." Miya declares, and walks away, giving Langa a small wink, hoping he notices it.

He obviously doesn't really walk away, just a little, so he can still see what's happening, he needs to know how it went.

Okay, so he doesn't hear much, but he still can see the following actions:

1. They stand here, as Langa starts to probably explain everything.
2. Reki asks something, and Langa looks down, and probably says something that makes Reki turn red again.
Ew.
3. Reki shouts something back, hugs him and-

DID THEY JUST KISS?! EW, WTF, MIYA DEFINITELY DIDN'T WANT TO SEE THAT.

But he can't help but smile a little, as he sees the happiness when they separate from the hug.
Finally.

- - -

So this is it huh? These idiots finally managed to confess to each other.
It didn't really go as planned, but it still worked out right? They can finally be together. They will probably go on dates, and be happy.

And Miya will finally be able to be left alone.
In peace.

Again.

He suddenly feels tears fall down his cheeks as he sits in the skatepark.
Everyone is probably at "S" now, but Miya doesn't feel like going there too.
They probably won't care. He's always mean to them anyways, so they probably think he hates them.

Even if that's not true.

It doesn't matter now anyway. Reki and Langa are finally together, so they will forget about him easily, and Reki won't bother Miya anymore, he won't hug him and ruffle his hair, as Miya tries to free himself from the grip. He won't talk about Langa anymore, so Miya won't need to look at him in disbelief anymore. He also won't need to quarrel with Langa, when the blue-haired boy makes this funny face, whenever he gets jealous of Reki's attention.

Miya is alone now after all, he always was, as he should be.

He hears a notification from his phone.

Slime #2, 8:17 pm
-Hey, where are you? You didn't show up at S yet, and Reki is really worried about you, but he forgot to take his phone with him.
-And I am worried too.

MIYA ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 8:19 pm
-at the skatepark

Slime #2, 8:20 pm
-Do you want us to come?
-Reki can come to you alone if you'd like to.

MIYA ( ⓛ ω ⓛ ), 8:21 pm
-can you come talk with me?
-alone?
-please

Slime #2, 8:22 pm
-Yes, I'll be on my way.

- - -

"Miya!" Miya hears Langa shouting his name, looking for him.

He doesn't respond though.

"Miya! Oh here you are…"
Langa says as he spots him sitting on a halfpipe.

"Did…Did something happen?" He tries to start a conversation awkwardly, and sits next to Miya.

Langa isn't good at comforting, and it's a well known fact. But he's trying his best at it, that's for sure.

"Will you leave me alone?" Miya quietly asks.

"Do you want me to?" Langa sits next to him.

"No…" the boy silently denies, hugging his knees and hiding his head in his arms.

"Then I won't". Langa calmly responds.

There's a brief moment of silence between them, but it isn't awkward, instead, it's actually pretty calming.

"You… won't?"

"We promised you together with Reki, that no matter what, we won't leave you."

"But Reki kinda left before…"

"But he came back. He was really upset later, that he broke the promise. But I broke my promise to him too, so I know how it feels."

Miya laughs a little.
"You two are really dumb."

"Probably. After all, Joe said that all skaters are idiots." Langa declares.

"He did? But I'm not an idiot." Miya frowns.

"You are."

"HEY!"

"You thought we would leave you." He clears, smiling a little.

"But… you're with Reki now, and you will be in your own world. You will go on dates and stuff all the time, and we won't spend time together at the skatepark anymore…" the little boy worries. "You know, like boyfriends do."

Langa blushed a little at the word 'boyfriends', but after some quick thinking he responds:

"You can go on a date with us. I mean, not all the time, but that way we can spend time together. And just because I'm d-dating Reki now… it doesn't mean we won't go to the skatepark together. And that you can't join us if you want to."

"But won't Reki have anything against it? And you always get SUPER JEALOUS of him!" Miya teases, but is actually very happy about what Langa has said.

And Langa knows it.
"N-yes, but I can live with it. I guess…And don't you like Reki being your big-brother?" Langa fights back.

"NO I DON'T!" Miya shouts, but they both know that's not true.

. . .

After a while, Reki joins them.
"Miya! Why didn't you tell me! Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Reki whines, squeezing Miya tightly.

"LET ME GO YOU SLIME!" Miya hisses at him, but laughs a little when he starts tickling him with that sly smile on his face.

Langa obviously gets a little jealous, so he hugs Reki from the back, seeking attention.

"Langa! What, do you want me to be your big brother too?" Reki laughs.

"No, I want to be your boyfriend and call you bae." He says, straight to the face, knowing how Reki will react.

"LANGAAAAA!!!" Reki whines, covering his face with his hands.

Langa gives Miya a high five.

"Oh god Langa, you're gonna be the death of me, especially if you team up with Miya with the teasing." He frowns, but ends up laughing with them.

~end

Bonus

The next day Miya goes to Joe's restaurant to tell everything that happened. He wants to tell Joe first, because he's still not sure about how Cherry would react to him doing the whole plan thing.

"Hey dad, what's-" Starts Miya, but before he can finish Joe grabs his shoulders and says:

"Miya my boy. Kaoru got mad at me again, and I don't know why. . . You need to help me."

"NO WAY I'M GETTING INTO SOMEONE'S ROMANTIC SHIT AGAIN, I JUST ENDED WITH ONE, AND I'M NOT DOING IT AGAIN-"

"I'll buy you the new game you wanted."

"Deal."

Notes:

Hello! It's Zj! So this was my first ever fic.

When I read "Just thought you should know" and "Look in my direction!" I had this idea in my mind for a silly light renga fic with Miya in POV, because I really liked the idea of our favorite catboy as the MC, when I also read "Reki by the apricot tree".

BIG thanks to seahorsesonsaturn, Lux_art and Awesomesauceme for reading it first, and correcting all of my grammar mistakes, and adding some comments! It's been such a big help, and it made me less scared that the fic will be bad :)

I hope you liked my work, please leave opinions in the comments! I'll be very grateful to hear what do y'all think! (but please keep the critique nice lol)

Thank you so much for reading!!! <33

Till the next time!
