Summary
"Look," Kojiro said, cocking his head toward the setting sun. Kaoru got up from his seat, standing at the railing. He gasped, his eyes sparkled in wonder as he saw the sun hiding beneath the towering trees of the park. Kojiro steered the boat, hair shifting in the calm breeze, his eyes on Kaoru the entire time.
"The last morning we spent together," Kaoru said, standing between the edge of daylight and moonlight, and they were slowly drifting through the clear waters, "I said I wanted to watch the sunrise with you."
Except, Kojiro was the only one who saw it fully.
"The golden hour is the time between sunrise and sunset," Kojiro murmured, eyes fixated on the lake, "I wanted to take you with me to see it properly."
Kojiro gives up bodyguarding to open a butchery. Kaoru skips town and returns a year later to visit an old flame. Five times Kaoru comes back to Kojiro's life and swindles him time and time again, and the one time Kojiro let him.
