Work Text:
Family dinners were actually pretty chill when Endeavor wasn't around, Natsuo discovered. No fighting, no tense atmosphere, no awkward silence. It was great.
"...and that's why Izuku is actually the child of All Might and All For One."
What was also great were Shouto's conspiracy theories.
"But how?"
Fuyumi wasn't fully convinced, which was a shame. Personally, Natsuo had decided to support his sibling and his theories.
"You see, Yumi, when two people love each other very much-"
She glared at him and he shut up, not wanting to be on cleaning duty again as punishment.
"But they're both guys and Shouto's theory hinges on Midoriya inheriting both their quirks."
Now that actually gave his brother pause. Oh no, Fuyumi was going to ruin his theory with unnecessary logic. He had to do something.
"I mean, one of them could be trans. You can't know that."
Fuyumi's glare darkened and he knew he'd sealed his fate. Worth it.
"Having a Hero come out as trans would've really helped me when I was younger, you know."
She sighed and Natsuo wasn't sure if she was about to throw her shoe at him or slam her head on the table.
"There are trans Heroes, you buffoon. And All Might isn't one of them, there's no way that had never been on the news. There still are lengthy reports anytime someone who's trans happens to get a halfway decent score at the Sports Festival, it's impossible that nobody reported on it twenty years ago."
Natsuo was about to retort that hey, maybe All Might was just really good at passing, when Shouto spoke up.
"It's been covered up. I need to do more research on this." Natsuo couldn't wait for the next weekend when he got to hear all about that in excruciating detail.
"But you met his mother already. She was at the parent-teacher conference."
Nope. He wasn't going to let Fuyumi poke holes into their perfect conspiracy.
"That was obviously All For One in a costume."
Underneath the table, Fuyumi kicked Natsuo's leg. He couldn't help grinning. He liked inciting chaos almost as much as he liked spending Endeavor's money on gacha games.
The next few minutes were filled with silence, but it was the kind of silence that happened between people who enjoyed each others company and not the kind of silence that happened when some hated one of the people sitting at the table.
"Have I told you about Dabi already?"
Oh, this was bound to be good, Shouto's villain theories always were.
"You didn't."
Despite herself, Fuyumi looked intrigued too.
"I got the idea from Denki who got it from Mina and Jirou. Dabi's actually related to us."
Honestly? Natsuo would take a villain like them over Endeavor any day. Hell, he'd even take Shigaraki as some cousin or whatever if that meant Endeavor was no longer related to them.
"They're our half-sibling on Endeavor's side. Dabi's older than all of us, so Endeavor having a wife before mom who's Dabi's mother could work. But seeing that Dabi's quirk wasn't stronger than his, Endeavor moved away and left them."
Natsuo hoped Dabi's fictional mom sued for child support.
But even he had to admit that the theory didn't make a whole lot of sense. Sure, Dabi was older than them, but Touya had been the first-born and Natsuo was pretty confident the math didn't add up. Well, maybe Endeavor had slept with another woman while being married to mom, he wouldn't put it past the guy.
"Just because they have a fire quirk doesn't mean they're related to Endeavor, though."
Yeah, he had to agree with Fuyumi there.
"But our quirks really are similar. Their fire works almost the same as mine does. We both use our hands and the flames spread in the same way. Well, theirs reach further, but that's because I haven't trained mine properly yet. And then there are the eyes. Theirs are the exact same blue as Endeavor's."
"You make a compelling case."
Wait, Fuyumi agreed with him?
"Thank you. Izuku thought so too."
As it was tradition by now, Natsuo spent the night at Fuyumi's mansion. (Yes, technically it was Endeavor's, but the fewer times he thought about that asshole, the better.)
He should probably sleep. But he could also play more of his latest gacha game and hopefully drive Endeavor to bankruptcy. To be fair, it was a pretty good game even if you didn't spent money on it. There was a big world to explore and tons of quests to do.
But he wasn't interesting in doing either of that tonight. A new character banner had been released recently and Natsuo was determined to get the featured character enough times until he'd been maxed out. To do that, he'd actually met up with his ingame bestie, dusteddebris because it was always more fun if you had someone who rooted for you. Or, in their cases, rooted for the loss of their fathers' fortunes.
That's actually why they stuck together in the first place. Natsuo was using Endeavor's money out of spite and revenge and Dusty was doing the same thing, except with his father slash guardian figure. The details were still unclear, but Natsuo wasn't going to push.
He was just about to buy the most expensive pack of the currency needed to pull on the banners when Fuyumi stormed into his room.
She stared at him, eyes filled with frantic energy. Natsuo stared back, eyes filled with the dim gleam of someone who had been staying up way too late.
"Dabi is Touya."
Powered by all the might of his braincells, Natsuo blinked at her in total and utter confusion.
"I'm going to find him."
Natsuo was still hung up on the fact that their dead brother was a Supervillain.
"Stop staring at me like that. You're coming with me."
"Fuyumi, what the fuck."
His brain had finally caught up on everything and wisely decided that it wasn't going to deal with any of that.
Wasn't Shouto supposed to be the one with the conspiracy theories, anyways? Was this because of what he'd said during dinner?
"Touya is Dabi."
"I got that part. But aren't you jumping to conclusions?"
"No."
Well, alright then.
"Care to elaborate?"
Fuyumi looked at him like he'd just asked what two plus two was. No, actually, the look she was giving him was probably worse, she must've had to deal with that question a lot as an elementary school teacher.
"They're the same age. Touya burned to his alleged death and Dabi is covered in burn scars. We only found his jawbone, Dabi's jaw is completely scarred. They have the same eyes. Dabi still does that little impatient tiptoeing before attacking. They're the same person."
He honestly didn't even know what to feel. She had good points, but they were talking about a fucking Villain. No, they weren't just talking about a Villain, they were talking about the person who injured and almost kidnapped Shouto.
Oh, fuck.
Touya had always been jealous because Shouto was perfect where he wasn't.
But he still wouldn't go after his little brother, right?
"He is so dead." Fuyumi let her murderous gaze fall onto her poor, innocent brother. "Now get up, I want to get this over with."
"Let me say bye to my pal first, at least."
"Ugh, you and your scam games. I'm waiting in my car."
Natsuo was about to tell her that even without paying money, this game was a lot of fun and anyways it wasn't a scam because you got what you paid for, but she was gone already.
E*deavor_hater: I gtg

E*deavor_hater: But srly I need to go
E*deavor_hater: Or my sisters gonna commit two murders tonight
dusteddebris: yeah yeah whatever
Natsuo sighed and exited the game. He was pretty sure Fuyumi wasn't going to kill Dabi (slash Touya?), but he was sure she'd kick his butt into next Tuesday if he didn't hurry up now.
In another life Fuyumi must've become a professional racer, if he way she made her poor Twingo break the sound barrier in the city was any indication. She was driving with a single-minded focus, staring straight ahead at the road like it was her personal nemesis. Natsuo swore himself he'd never get on her bad side again.
It didn't take long for them to stop in front of some old building. Above all, Natsuo was proud he didn't throw up.
Fuyumi got out and Natsuo scrambled to leave the car as well while his sister already marched up to the front door. She didn't even bother knocking before flinging it open and stalking inside. Natsuo hurried to follow, only to come to a halt inside the building.
Holy shit.
This was the actual hideout of the League. Spinner (the real life Villain Spinner, who was part of the League) was sitting cross-legged on the floor, polishing one of his blades. Shigaraki (The Shigaraki, the most wanted man in the country Shigaraki) lay sprawled across a couch laptop popped up in front of his face.
Yeah, he was definitely never ever getting on Fuyumi's bad side ever again. She somehow found out where the most wanted Villains were staying and it didn't even take her a full day.
"I need to talk to Dabi. Where is he?" Her unnaturally icy voice didn't betray the anger bubbling inside her.
"It's they."
"Oh, right. They. I need to talk to them."
Spinner put his blade away and got up.
"Ugh, fine. But they're in a bad mood right now."
"That's fine." Whatever bad mood they were in, it was nothing compared to Fuyumi's.
Natsuo was honestly kind of impressed neither of them had died yet. Then again, Fuyumi had just walked in here like she owned the place and asked to see one of the League's members. That only went to show that a little confidence (and murderous intent) could go a long way.
It didn't take long for Spinner to come back, now with an agitated Dabi (Touya?) in tow. Their gaze fell onto Fuyumi and Natsuo and oh fuck they definitely recognized them. Dabi's face was an overwhelming whirlwind of emotions even as they tried to keep their composure.
"You," Fuyumi stared back at them, "are the worst!"
Then ice shot out from under her foot, freezing Dabi in place.
Instead of attacking them, Spinner got a bag of chips from somewhere and opened it, watching them with great interest. Shigaraki didn't even bother looking up from his laptop. Either confidence went a really, really long way, or the League had its day off today.
A few seconds passed, then Dabi melted the ice, only to be hit in the head by something Fuyumi threw. It was one of her house slippers. Holy shit, did she take those with her just so she could throw them at their sibling?
"You're the worst sibling to ever exist." Her voice wobbled like his pitiful attempt at a card house a while back and Natsuo could tell she was choking back tears.
She took a step forward, then another and another until she crashed into an overwhelmed Touya, hugging them close to her chest. "I missed you so much."
Credit where it's due, Dabi didn't try to set her on fire, they were just standing there, about as shocked as a deer moments before a small and unassuming Twingo breezed into it with double the permitted speed.
Natsuo honestly had no idea how to handle any of this, so he decided he wasn't going to. His dead sibling was alive. They had been alive all this time. How the ever-loving, graceful fuck was he supposed to handle this?
He made his way over to one of the armchairs, then all but fell into it.
A moment later he realized that this had brought him closer to the head of the League. Really, even just being in the same building was too close for his comfort, but Shigaraki didn't show any sort of sign that he'd even noticed him.
Well. He was here now and he sure as hell wasn't going to touch whatever Fuyumi and Dabi had going on with a ten foot pole. His sister was now crying openly, alternating between hugging Dabi and shaking them by the shoulders, all while listing every single reason disappearing on them was shitty.
As much as he agreed with her, he only sat back and got his phone out. Fuyumi seemed to be doing quite well without his intervention, so he might as well continue wasting Endeavor's money.
Dusty was still online, so he quickly sent a request to enter his world, which was promptly accepted.
E*deavor_hater: Sup
dusteddebris: oh youre still alive
dusteddebris: congrats on not dying
dusteddebris: wheres the body?
E*deavor_hater: First of all
E*deavor_hater: I wouldnt just tell you that
E*deavor_hater: Second of all
E*deavor_hater: So far she hasnt killed anyone
dusteddebris: your sis sounds fucking awesome
E*deavor_hater: Ikr???? Shes the best
E*deavor_hater: As long as you stay on her good side
dusteddebris: so what was that family emergency about?
dusteddebris: did she beat up your shitty dad?
E*deavor_hater: I wish
E*deavor_hater: Its kinda personal
E*deavor_hater: Theres this person whos been gone for a long time
E*deavor_hater: And now were kind of reuniting?
E*deavor_hater: If you can call "screaming at and crying on them" reuniting
dusteddebris: sounds rough
dusteddebris: where did that fucker fuck off to for so long?
E*deavor_hater: Wouldnt you like to know, weather boy?
dusteddebris: so you have no idea
E*deavor_hater: Yep!
dusteddebris: I reiterate: sucks 2 suck
E*deavor_hater: Ily too
dusteddebris: fuck off
E*deavor_hater: Oh, now she went from telling them why leaving was shitty to all the reasons shes missed them
dusteddebris: wait
dusteddebris: do you have spiky white hair?
E*deavor_hater: What the fuck
E*deavor_hater: How do you know?
dusteddebris: and youre currently wearing really ugly patterned pants?
E*deavor_hater: HEY
E*deavor_hater: Theyre not ugly!!! Theyre comfortable and unique
E*deavor_hater: WAIT
Natsuo tore his gaze away from his phone.
"Spinner?!" His online friend was part of the League of Villains. Holy shit, he told Spinner so much embarrassing stuff.
"No, it's me, you dipshit." Shigaraki's voice was low and scratchy and exactly what Natsuo had thought Dusty must sound like. He scratched his neck and Natsuo could watch flakes of his skin fall off.
"Dusty?" Was this better or worse? Natsuo honestly couldn't decide.
He finally looked up from his laptop and promptly leveled Natsuo with a glare that could rival Fuyumi's.
"If you call me that in earshot of anyone else ever again, I will kill you."
"Sure you will, bestie."
Right after the words had left his mouth, Natsuo realized that he was talking to the leader of the League. He'd just said that to his face. After his life got threatened.
Oh fuck. He was going to die.
"Shit, you're just as annoying offline as you are online." Shigaraki was still staring at him like he was going to murder him any second now, but he didn't seem inclined to get up anytime soon.
Natsuo had come here to escape one weirdly stressful and overwhelming situation, but this wasn't any better.
"Fuck. I can't deal with this right now."
Shigaraki kept glaring at him, only now there was confusion mixed into his perpetual anger.
"Hey, lady! Your brother broke."
That got her attention alright. While she was staring at the two of them, Dabi was already on their way over.
"What the fuck did you do to my brother? I swear on Kurogiri I'm going to fucking turn you into ash if you hurt my little brother."
Spinner was still observing everything with great interest, munching on his chips like he was watching a particularly good reality TV show, looking like he didn't care about anything but drama.
"I didn't do shit. It's all your fault! His already fragile psyche couldn't handle his long lost sibling being this fucking ugly."
"Oh, just wait until I'm done with you, you fucking-"
"Dabi." Fuyumi had appeared behind them, arms crossed. There were still tears plastered over her face, but that didn't diminish the effect of her icy stare.
"Mom raised you better than that."
"I- But he started it!"
Fuyumi didn't pay them any mind and instead spun to face Shigaraki. Oh, now she was giving a whole speech about how he shouldn't treat her siblings like that.
That only left him and Dabi.
Natsuo got up from the armchair because this felt like a conversation where he should stand.
He had a million things he wanted to say to his sibling (who was not dead, he still didn't quite grasp the fact that they were not dead). He wanted to call them an asshole, he wanted to say he missed them, he wanted to tell them about everything that happened, about going to med school, about being trans, about what a piece of shit Endeavor was, about how he was slowly connecting with Shouto, about moving out, about all the grief that just built up in him, choking him, drowning him, but he didn't.
"Did you mean to leave us behind?" Weird. His voice sounded all teary.
Dabi looked at him, grief, pain, sorrow and about a hundred other emotions appearing and disappearing on their face.
"No. Fuck no." Well, at least Dabi didn't sound much better.
Natsuo couldn't tell who initiated the hug (it was probably him), but now he was hugging Dabi and a big part of him wanted to never let go again, afraid their sibling would vanish as suddenly as they'd gotten back into his life.
"I'm still taller than you."
Even after all these years, Dabi was still tiny and Natsuo was still the tallest sibling. Sometimes, when he'd looked into a mirror and found his reflection had changed again, he'd wondered what Dabi would look like, if they would've ever outgrown him. Now he had his answer.
"Seems like it."
Yep, he was crying now. And you knew what? He deserved a good, long cry after all the shit this rotten bastard of a sibling had put him through. He still kept clutching them like a lifeline.
"What's your name now?" That question would be extremely out of place at most other reunions, but Dabi had been gone long before Natsuo ever came out to his siblings.
"Natsuo. To fit Yumi." Despite addressing every page in his diary to Dabi, they never did read any of it. Logically, he knew they never did, but it had been a comforting thought nonetheless.
"Natsuo, listen. I'm sorry you had to find out about this."
Hell no. Dabi had a lot of shit to apologize for, but 'not dying' was certainly not on that list.
"Fuck you. Don't you dare be sorry about the fact that we found out you're still alive."
Now, Natsuo did pull back so he could glare at Touya. His glare had never been particularly effective, but it still got the point across.
"I'm a Villain, not Touya. Touya's as dead as always. Natsuo, he's fucking gone. You're chasing a ghost."
Oh hell no. Now it was Natsuo's turn to drown in misery, not Dabi's. They could wait until it was their turn.
"Shut up. Yes, you're a villain. I haven't even been listening, but I still know Fuyumi is going to have a nice, long talk with you about that topic." Natsuo had no idea what the hell he was saying, but winging stuff had always been his specialty. "But you're still our sibling, whether you want to be or not. You're a giant asshole and I can't decide if I want to hug you again or punch you, but you're still our sibling."
That had rendered Dabi speechless. Natsuo didn't know if it was because his impromptu rambling had been touching or because it had been so out of place there was no way to answer him.
"That's way too many emotions."
Oh.
They sounded like they were about to cry too.
"Definitely."
Natsuo knew that dealing with the fallout of this mess would be a hell and a half, but in this moment he simply enjoyed having his sibling back, even if they were a scarred jerk of a Villain now.
