Tell Me a Faerie Tale [Art]

Summary:

Art post for the story "Mushrooms of Wiltshire" by shiftylinguini for the 2022 Harry/Draco Reverse Bang

Notes:

Thank you so much to Linguini for pinch-hitting! I was really pleased to get paired up with you, and so flattered you claimed my art <3 also very grateful that you stepped in on such short notice to write a beautiful companion piece to my art. Pinch hitters are the stars that light the night sky, truly. Working with you was a ton of fun and a delight, I hope we get to work together again someday!

I really love fae AUs; there's so much potential for lore and creating new ideas with familiar characters. This piece was inspired by a sort of idle wondering about what Draco and Harry might look like as fae, what their coloring might be, other features they might have, that sort of thing. I wanted to leave enough room for interpretation whether this was to be a dark fae au (as many are) or a more light-hearted story (as fairy tales have come to be associated with). Whether dangerous or dreamy, I wanted it to be enchanting to look at.

Work Text:

Harry and Draco are drawn as two fae, sitting in a tree, Draco on an upper branch and Harry on a lower branch. Harry is lying on his back, reaching up, while Draco is lying on his stomach, reaching down. They are touching fingers, as if about to hold hands. Harry has tan skin and warm, autumnal-themed clothing on. His wings resemble a monarch butterfly, and he has glowing cervine antlers. Draco has white, feathery hair and watery-themed clothing. His wings are more like a dragonfly, and he is wearing a circlet and other jewelry.
