Chapter Text
The double dates started today.
God, Akito hated the fact that he agreed to this.
Toya looked at him with these big puppy eyes and asked him if they could have a double date with An and Kohane, and then later on that same day, asked if they could also have a double date with Tsukasa and Rui the day after.
An and Kohane were one thing. He could handle those lesbians. They’re in his band, he has to.
But Tsukasa? AND Rui? He would rather teach Len the entirety of the English language’s curse words. And he REALLY cares about Len’s innocence.
“You’re really fuckin’ with me here, you know that?” Akito turned to Toya as the two were drinking their coffee in the Sekai’s Crase Cafe.
Toya tilted his head in confusion, as if he didn’t know what Akito was talking about. Akito knew damn well he knew what the redhead was talking about.
As if right on cue, Akito’s phone vibrated. It was a text from An.

Akito felt a blood vessel pop in his forehead.
“Toya, am I a top or a bottom?”
Toya looked over, as he was sipping from the straw in his juice box that he got from MEIKO when Akito wasn’t looking. He looked adorable, but Akito wasn’t gonna say that. “I don’t know. Aren’t we too young for that anyways?”
Akito deadpanned. “Just answer the question. Do I at least look like a top?”
“I’ll be completely honest, the ones who try to desperately look like a top end up being bottoms.”
Akito groaned. “If we’re too young to know about this then how come you know so much about it?”
“I literally read for a hobby.”
He facepalmed. He was probably gonna end up being a bottom when they’re a bit older and further into their relationship.

And with that, Akito put his phone on silent. If he kept that conversation going, he probably would be completely discharged by the time the actual date came around. He thought he would have some peace and quiet until his weekend finally turned sour, but then Len showed up in the cafe, loudly greeting everyone. MEIKO smiled at the younger Virtual Siner and Toya waved hello. Akito, however, looked at him like Len just woke him up from a nap.
“Sorry, Akito. Too loud?” He tilted his head with a sad smile as an apology.
Akito sighed but smiled. He couldn’t stay mad at Len. “It’s fine. I just got off the phone with An, that’s all. You know how it is.”
“Oh yeah! Helpless lesbian!”
When he shouted that, as if it was normal, Akito felt a shiver go down his spine. As if right on cue, he turned around and saw Toya glaring daggers at him.
“Have you been teaching Len some questionable things again, Akito Shinonome?”
Akito gulped. “N-Nah, I haven’t done anything like that, babe! He probably picked it up from An or some—“
“I can go into his phone. He has An saved as ‘helpless lesbian’!” Len smiled brightly at the two, receiving a pained smile from Akito that screamed ‘please shut up’, and an unenthused expression from Toya, who then stared again at Akito.
He sighed. “Akito, why do you have An saved by that name on your phone?”
Akito shrugged in exasperation. “What! An probably has me saved as some stupid name too!”
Len tilted his head. “Rin told me she has you saved as ‘pining gay boy’. What does that mean?”
“SHE WHAT?!” Akito stood up from his chair and grabbed Len’s shoulders, making the Vocaloid’s smile turn a bit shaky and nervous. “When and where did you hear this?!”
“Eh… Rin told me right before I made my way over here…”
“That fucking—“
“Akito! Language in front of Len!” Toya exclaimed.
He groaned. “This is why I hate gay people.”
~
The boys arrived at Main Street, but they didn’t see Kohane or An anywhere, and it was almost time for them to meet up. As for where they were going, none of them knew. They just knew it was a double date, and that was about it. Akito didn’t even know who came up with this idea in the first place, but something told him it was a collaborative effort between Kohane and Toya.

WERE GOING GOD SHUT UP
As long as she understood.
After a bit of time passed, with the boys waiting on a bench and Toya leaning on Akito’s shoulder, Akito once again pulled out his phone. He saw a text from Kohane saying that they were at Main Street but they didn’t see them around anywhere. Akito notified her that they were sitting at a bench near the arcade, because it was criminal if Akito were to let Toya leave the position he’s in right now.
A group of middle schoolers walked by the two and chuckled amongst themselves, but then they received a cold, hard stare from Akito.
‘Say anything. Please, give me a reason to be charged with assault.’ Akito thought to himself.
Toya noticed him death-glaring someone, but when he turned to see no one (as the middle schoolers fled in fear of Akito’s trained ‘fuck off’ stare), he sat up and turned to Akito.
“What was that look for?” Toya frowned sadly.
“Oh y’know. Losers. It wasn’t An. I would’ve actually said something if it was her. Speaking of which, I think that’s them over there.” Akito nodded in the direction of the two girls.
Toya smiled and pecked Akito’s cheek before getting up and walking towards the girls, with Akito following closely behind.
“Hello, Aoyagi-kun. Shinonome-kun.” Kohane greeted the two politely. An waved at Toya from behind Kohane and then glared at Akito.
“I’m glad you two made it,” Toya replied. “to be honest, I almost fell asleep on the bench with Akito. His shoulder is really comfortable.”
Akito flushed and looked away, with An snickering. “You’re so whipped.”
Akito walked past the two shyer members of the band to stare daggers at An.
“Len told me that you have me saved as ‘pining gay boy’.”
“Pining gay BOTTOM. Wanna see?” She happily pulled out her phone, but then stopped and looked at Akito, unenthused. “It’s not like you’re much better, having me saved as ‘helpless lesbian’.”
Akito grunted. “Toya told me to change it. You’re ‘somewhat helpless lesbian’ now. You moved up a rank.”
An had a smile that hid poison beneath it. “At least I’m improving and not being a stuck-up for my boy—“
“An-chan! We’re going! You too, Shinonome-kun!” Kohane happily called for the two, unaware of their banter.
“On my way, cutie!” An happily called back. She walked past Akito to catch up with the other two, but then turned around and snickered. “Bottom.”
Akito sputtered. “You’re calling me a stuck-up?!”
The group of four ended up walking into the arcade, which is a place that usually the group doesn’t usually frequent, save for Toya. The boy’s eyes lit up as they entered the building and immediately went over to the crane machines. Akito followed him, while Kohane and An trailed behind.
“Akito, do you want anything?” Toya turned to look at his boyfriend, and Akito shook his head and gave him a soft smile.
“I’ll be fine with whatever.”
“I’ll get you the dog plushie, then.”
“ANYTHING BUT THAT.” Akito’s face turned sour. Toya chuckled.
While the boy played with the crane and kept winning some plushies for the group, Kohane and An walked over to the Dance Dance Revolution machine. It was also the only machine Akito liked using in the entire arcade, but right now he was full of plushies in his arms.
“Kohane, wanna play a round with me?” An smiled.
“Sure, An-chan! Um… but how do I play?”
“I dunno. I don’t use this thing either. Maybe just step on the arrows?”
Out of nowhere, Akito appeared behind her, but she couldn’t even see him because of the mountain of plushies he was carrying around. “Arrows pop up on the screen and you just step on them on time with the rhythm of the song.”
“Bro, I can’t even see your face.” An snickered.
“It’s not like there’s an easier way to carry all this shit—“
“Here Akito, I can help you out—“ Toya interjected, but Akito stepped away from him.
“Nope! Nope, nope, I can handle this myself. Don’t you worry your pretty little head about a thing, I didn’t wanna watch An fuck this game up anyway.”
An groaned. “Alright, gay boy. Imma play a round. How hard could this be?”
“I mean, if you can dance you have half the game already down.” Akito shrugged. And by shrug, I mean the mountain of plushies suddenly rose, then slowly sunk again.
“Akito, we could just drop the plushies off in our Sekai. Really, it looks like an inconvenience…” Toya whispered in Akito’s ear.
Akito sighed. “Alright, alright. I’ll be right back.”
“I’ll go with you.” He raised his voice towards the girls. “We’re going to drop off the plushies at the Sekai. We’ll be right back.”
“Okay! We’ll be right here!” Kohane called back.
“Don’t get too frisky in there, I don’t wanna walk in on anything when I go in.” An called, not taking her eyes away from the machine and she was picking a song to play.
Toya chuckled and Akito sputtered. Before he could retort, Toya already pressed Ready Steady on his phone and sent the two over to the Sekai.
The two appeared right in front of the Crase Cafe. Akito turned to Toya, although Toya still couldn’t see Akito’s face. “Dude, be more careful when you activate that thing, who knows what people would say if they suddenly see two guys just appear in front of them…”
“It’s fine, the arcade is pretty noisy and packed anyway.” Toya smiled.
As the two entered the cafe, they saw a super happy Len run up to them. MEIKO looked on at the boys with a warm smile.
“Where did you get all this stuff?!” Len exclaimed.
“Arcade. Want it?” Len couldn’t see it, but Akito was smiling.
“C-Can I really keep one?!”
The redhead chuckled. “Yeah, sure. We’re leaving them here for right now. Just tell me which ones you end up keeping, alright? There’s supposed to be some for An and Kohane in there too.”
Akito placed the mountain of plushies down by the entrance of the cafe after getting the okay from MEIKO to do so. Akito ruffled Len’s hair, much to the chagrin of the younger singer, and then the two were off again to return back to the arcade.
The boys materialized right where they left, to see Kohane and An out of breath and looking at their results screen.
“Look! Bitch, look! I got a full combo!” An pointed at the screen, much to Akito’s surprise.
“No you fucking di— BITCH YOU PLAYED ON EASY!” Akito yelled at her after looking at her screen. Normally the other two would tell them to quiet down, but this was the arcade so it didn’t matter much.
“AND? I’M STILL PROUD!”
“A-Aoyagi-san, are there any other machines we should play while we’re here?”
Toya nodded and pointed around at some other machines. Namely the Street Fighter II machine and the huge four-player Pac-Man machine.
“I wanna play the Street Fighter one. Akito imma whoop your ass.” An sneered.
“Neither of us even know how to play Street Fighter.” Akito deadpanned.
“Ok but like, imma still win?” An shrugged, which made Akito’s neutral face turned into an annoyed frown.
“Alright, fine. We’ll play.”
The group of four walked over to the Street Fighter machine, with Toya and Kohane standing to the side of their respective partners. The two rivals inserted a coin to play a multiplayer match, and Akito turned to Toya.
“Yo, is there any like… overpowered as fuck character?” Toya merely gave him a shrug. Toya didn’t play fighting games much, that was up to his classmate, Nene.
An turned to Kohane. “I have no idea who to choose and there’s literally only like 8 characters.” An then turned to Akito. “Aren’t we on like Street Fighter 6 or something?”
“I dunno. I don’t follow these games.”
“Alright, well I’m gonna pick this girl. The only girl.”
“Uhhh… how about this guy? Is he good, Toya?”
Toya shrugged again and gave his boyfriend a small frown. “I don’t really play these kinds of games, but he’s the character in the intro so maybe he’s good.”
The game yelled ‘CHUN-LI’ and ‘RYU’ as the match started and the two started mashing buttons on the arcade.
“I don’t even know how to do a speci— AKITO HOW’D YOU THROW THAT BALL THING?”
“I DON’T KNOW I’M JUST TWIRLING THE STICK AROUND!”
“DO I GET BALLS?” An yelled.
“PHRASING?”
Toya and Kohane chuckled to each other as they turned around to look at some other machines. Unfortunately, none of the other ones really piqued their interest. It seems like they would just have to play the Pac-Man machine and then go somewhere else.
“Why don’t we go somewhere to eat after we play the Pac-Man game?” Kohane asked.
Toya nodded with a smile. “That sounds like a good idea.”
The two were interrupted when both Akito and An yelled at the machine.
“DRAW??”
“Oh wait, there’s one more round.” Akito added.
“I’m gonna figure out how to throw my balls, you’ll see.”
“An, please.” Akito chuckled.
“Why are you begging for my balls?” An snickered.
“AN!” Akito started bursting out laughing.
The two mashed buttons some more, and after a little bit, An finally threw out a Kikoken from Chun-Li. She started cheering as if she won, but in that moment of vulnerability, Akito landed the last hit and won the actual match. An just looked at the screen in horror, and then turned to Akito, who had a smug smile on his face.
“WHY’D YOU DO THAT?” An yelled.
“WHAT ARE YOU MOVING AWAY FROM THE CONTROLS FOR? YOU DIDN’T WIN!”
“IT WAS A MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT!”
“I STILL BLOCKED IT?”
“WELL BLOCK THESE—“
Kohane interjected the two’s petty argument. “ANYWAYS! How about we skip the Pac-Man machine and go somewhere to eat?” Kohane didn't want to tell them anything, but the constant screaming between the two was starting to make her head hurt.
An turned to her girlfriend and muttered. “I only have the money for like, McDonald’s.”
Toya’s eyes shined at Akito’s direction, who only chuckled in response. “Akito! Can we go to McDonald’s?!”
“Dude, you don’t need to ask me like I’m your mom. Sure, we can go to McDonald’s.”
Toya hugged Akito, who smiled warmly as if he was relaxing at a hot spring.
“Kohane, do you even eat at McDonald’s?” An asked.
Kohane blushed and fiddled with her fingers. “I really like the chicken nuggets.”
The sight made An’s brain explode. “I’ll get you a 20-piece. Meal large.”
“I thought you said you only had—“
An interrupted. “I lied. Kohane fund.”
The group of four exited the arcade, with Akito holding Toya’s hand and An leading Kohane out by the waist. The four were gonna walk peacefully to McDonald’s (as Akito and An currently were not interacting), but then a familiar event occurred. It was Minori’s pet dog, running at the group, as it recognized Kohane. However, instead of going right towards Kohane, Samo-chan stood in front of the group and started barking.
Akito started shaking. “Toya. Please make the dog calm down. It’s probably saying that it’s gonna rip me limb from limb.”
“Akito, it’s just a samoyed…” Toya smiled, but stood in front of Akito to shield him from the dog.
Kohane was already walking past the boys to greet the samoyed, but Akito was still frozen in place, although now he was gripping onto Toya’s shoulder.
“Oh right, I forgot you’re afraid of dogs.” An muttered, watching Kohane greet Samo-chan happily.
Minori came running shortly after, panting and apologizing for letting Samo-chan run free. “S-She probably saw Kohane and came running… I’m sorry…!”
“Samo-chan looks so cute, Minori!” Kohane cheered as the two started talking, but Samo-chan kept staring at Akito.
The redhead stared back, but as you probably know…
Staring contests with a dog you don’t know isn’t the best option.
Samo-chan started barking at Akito again.
He screamed. “GET THE FUCKING DOG BITCH!”
“Oh, she doesn’t bite!” Minori calmly explained.
“YES IT DO SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE’S GONNA KILL ME—“
~
The group made it to McDonald’s unscathed. Well, physically unscathed. An was still barely holding in her laughter, Kohane was looking over worriedly at Akito, who was still shaking with a frown on his face. Toya simply held his hand to make sure he didn’t crumble under the pressure of being exposed to one of his fears.
“Well, we’re here.” Kohane sighed.
“I’m gonna get our food. Toya, you get a table and calm Akito down, he looks like a wreck. Kohane, could you help him?” An asked.
“Yeah, okay.”
“What do you two want?” An nodded at the boys.
“Just get us both a large Big Mac meal each. Toya’s probably gonna want a Sprite, get me a Coke. I’m tired, have my wallet.” Akito handed An his wallet. “I’m only paying for Toya, you have your Kohane fund.”
“Man, I just wanted your order.” An took around 1,000 Yen from Akito’s wallet and handed it back to him. At least he seemed like he was shaking less.
"Wait... Toya drinks McDonald's Sprite?"
"I don't know how he handles it either. He doesn't even like sugary shit."
Toya shrugged. Not even he had an answer for that.
An decided to let it go and went over to the cashier to order all their stuff, while the other three sat at a booth and waited.
Kohane calmly talked to Akito, who was now leaning on Toya’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, Shinonome-san. I didn’t know you were afraid of dogs.”
“It’s fine, I probably overreacted anyway.”
“But, Samo-chan really is harmless! Maybe we could help you conquer your fear of dogs with her!”
Akito deadpanned. “I do not think that’s a good idea.”
Toya pecked Akito’s forehead. “I’ll help you.”
Akito quickly retracted his previous statement. “Alright, fine.”
An walked over to the booth, holding two trays, one for each of the boys. She made a second trip to bring two more trays, one for her and Kohane each. She pecked Kohane’s cheek as she sat down and gave Akito the change from his and Toya's order.
“Alright. Dig in.”
Akito got off of Toya’s shoulder as he opened the Big Mac box to start eating when—
“HELLO?!” Kohane exclaimed.
“Eh?” Akito looked up.
“THEY GAVE ME SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE. WHERE IS MY BBQ?”
An stood up and made her way over to the cashier. “ALRIGHT WHO GAVE MY GIRLFRIEND THE WRONG SAUCE.”
“God, she’s so loud.” Akito muttered.
“A-Akito?” Toya whispered.
“Hm?”
“There’s pickles in my Big Mac...”
“…”
Akito slammed the table and got up. He stood next to An in front of the cashier with a death stare. “HE DIDN’T WANT PICKLES.”
Kohane and Toya watched on, proud of their partners.
