The Sun And His Shine (Old/abandoned version)

Summary:

Will moved back to Hawkins and there's a new kid named Apollo Denvers.

I have not quite abandoned this, I'm completely rewriting it, so this version is over and will not be updated again. (Check last chapter for more details if the new version is not up by the time you see this)

Notes:

I have no idea what I am doing. Some chapters may be long or really short.

Chapter 1: Lunch

Chapter Text

Summer was fun. We moved back to Hawkins. I joined Hellfire. I met more people like me; even Steve and Nancy were like me too. I finally got over my crush on Mike. Hopper was back and everything was ok. Now today was the first day of school. Sophomore year was here. Jonathan was at college with Argyle, Nancy was at Emerson.
Steve was driving me and the others to school.
My first day at Hawkins High.
“Hi Steve.”
“Hey, Byers. Alright that’s everyone. Wheeler and the Sinclairs got a ride already so we don’t have to get them.” Steve looked much happier since the time I was in Hawkins. It was nice.
Once we got to school I saw Mike and Lucas waiting for us in front of the school.
“Will! Will!” Mike yelled at me.
“Hey Mike, I see your mom still chooses what you wear on the first day of school.” I said considering what he was wearing was clearly Karen's work.
“Har, har. Very funny William,” was Mike's response. He tried to seem rude, but his chances were ruined by the smile across his face.
The rest of the day went like any normal school day. Until lunch. “Who’s that?” I whisper to Mike.
“No idea. Must be new.”
“I’m gonna talk to him.” I knew what it was like being the new kid with no friends. And he was alone. Besides, he was pretty cute. He had short brown hair and freckles. He wore a leather jacket, a band tee-shirt, dark blue baggy jeans, and Doc Martens.
“Will, we’re supposed to sit with Hellfire.”
“Ok, well I’ll invite him to sit with us.”
“Um, I don’t really know. He looks a little scary.”
“Well, everyone deserves friends. And you’re gonna him ‘scary’ after all we’ve seen.” I pointed out.
“I guess, well you can go talk to him, I’ll wait at the normal table. You know where it is right?”
“Yeah don’t worry.” I walked up to the guy who was sitting alone. “Hi, I’m Will. I was wondering if you wanted to sit with me and my friends?”
“Well, Will, I’m not quite sure I do.” He said.
“Well then, can I sit with you?” I said “If that’s ok with you?”
“Well, it’s supposedly a free country. So sit wherever you want. However if you were to sit here I guess I should introduce myself.”
“Well, I am sitting here so I guess you should,” I sat down next to him and set my stuff down.
“So Will was the name right?” I nodded. “Well Will, I’m Apollo.”
“Apollo? Like the Greek god?” It felt a bit rude asking, but I’ve never met anyone named Apollo before. It was an interesting name.
“No, Apollo, as in the garbage man who lives down the street,” He was sarcastic too. Hm.
“Right obviously as in the Greek god. Sorry.”
“No need to be sorry. Just messing with you.” He, Apollo, seemed really sincere. It was nice.
“Ok, cool.” I smiled at him.
He smiled back. The rest of lunch this way; us talking and falling into an easy conversation. It was nice. We made arrangements to eat together again tomorrow. I couldn’t wait.
After school Mike went up to me. “Where were you during lunch?” Fuck. I forgot I was supposed to sit with Hellfire.
“Sorry, I got a bit caught up talking with Apollo. He’s actually really funny and I’m going to eat with him tomorrow.”
“Really Will? And who’s Apollo?”
“That boy I said I was going to ask if he wanted to sit with us.”
“And so when he said no you sat with him instead of your friends?” Mike was starting to sound annoyed.
“Apollo is my friend too now. I’m glad I sat with him. Being the new kid with no friends gets lonely fast, trust me I know.” Honestly I really was glad I sat with him. I’m glad I made a new friend.
“Ok, you’re right. I’m sorry. Just, try to get him to sit with us tomorrow.”
“Ok, you have my word.” I would, but if he didn’t want to I wouldn’t push him.
“Good, well I got to go, bye,” Mike still seemed mildly annoyed.
“Bye.”
Well that was weird. I don’t know why Mike got so defensive.
“Hey, Will.”
