Lmao his designs aren't even good. They're so boring!
Rui narrows his eyes at the screen. What did they know? Akito worked super hard on his designs, he could attest to that. If they didn't like the designs why didn't they just get good enough to be hired, huh? If it were up to him he'd spend hours on Twitter just defending his husband. But Akito had told him to “ignore them, they just want attention.”
And he really tried, but he really wants to show the world how hard working and amazing Akito is. He hates it. How dare these random people invalidate all of Akito’s hard work? Honestly he wouldn't even be this upset if he didn't know that Akito had to read some of these comments every time he opened Twitter. Of course it wasn't all hate, lots of people actually liked Akito's designs a lot, but still, the hate comments were unavoidable.
It makes his blood boil. He takes a deep breath and closes Twitter. If he keeps reading, he'll do something rash. He opens his texts with Tsukasa instead and starts to complain about it until he feels better. Tsukasa is used to it at this point anyway. He used to try and give Rui advice on how to handle things, but soon gave up when he noticed Rui definitely wasn't listening.
Instead Tsukasa advises him that maybe it'll make him feel better if he shows people how dedicated Akito is. It makes him think. It probably won't deter everyone from writing hate comments, but maybe less people will do it, if they see that Akito is an actual human with feelings…?
Is he really going to turn his Twitter into an Akito fan page? He drops his head into the crook of his arm and laughs to himself. Maybe he should make a new account for that, some people actually followed him, to see Wonderlands x Showtime updates, not for walls of text about his husband.
He looks over at Akito who is standing in the Kitchen, cutting fruit for dinner. They don't eat vegetables in this household. Rui had banned them the first time Akito cooked. He looks back at Tsukasa’s suggestion and up at Akito again. Akito probably wouldn't be too mad if he took a picture right? And besides, the oversized sweater is cute. No one will be able to hate him anymore when they see it! Not to mention, Rui likes to be able to brag about his marriage and nothing says ‘mine’ like Akito wearing one of his clothes, or something. Though the bite mark on Akitos neck might also do it.
He moves to get a better angle and snaps a picture. He edits it a little, makes it look a bit warmer, more cozy. When he's satisfied he opens up Twitter again. He does end up creating a new account, but after he tweets the image, he makes sure to retweet it with his main. People need to see!
Considering the fact that it's him tweeting and that Akito's in the picture, it's not a surprise to him when pretty quickly likes and comments roll in. To his delight they're just people saying how cute the image is. He's very pleased. His plan is working, soon no one will be able to escape Akito’s cuteness! He laughs airily, what is he, a Scooby Doo villain with a very weird goal? Before he can think about it more, Akito yells for him to set the table and he complies, putting his phone away for the time being.
At dinner Akito asks why he looks so pleased, to which Rui just shrugs. Akito follows him anyway, so he'll see sooner or later. Rui would just rather have it be later, maybe when it hasn't just been five minutes. Or maybe he should tell him. He really wants to see Akito get flustered, it's so cute !
To his delight he gets both. Later that night, when they're watching the Barbie movie. Rui swears that it's a cinematic masterpiece and Akito is a fool for not seeing it. Shame on him! He may love his husband but if Akito keeps this up, he won't be able to defend him anymore. Joking, of course. He doesn't think anything Akito would do could make him stop defending him.
Ehem, anyways. He's totally engrossed in the movie, when he hears a high pitched squeak next to him. When he looks over he's met with the sight of Akito, face fully hidden in his knees, phone next to him. However much he may try to hide it, Rui knows he’s probably very red, his ears tend to give him away and they are completely colored at this point. He looks a bit like a strawberry. It makes Rui want to eat him.
He doesn't do that, but he does a) pause the film, because Barbie deserves his full attention and b) pull Akito towards himself, trying to pry his face out of the ball Akito has turned himself into. Akito, bless his ticklishness, can't put up a fight for very long and soon Rui is holding Akito's face in his hands. It is, indeed, very red and Rui can't help but place a kiss on Akito’s nose. Very cute~ Akito should always be flustered, Rui might get a heart attack from cuteness overload, but he'd die a happy man, mmhm!
When the blush has subsided a little, Akito hits him. Not very hard but Rui is nothing if not dramatic. “Ow! Here I am, sharing all this cuteness with the world, being a good person and I get attacked for it! I cannot believe this. The betrayal! ”
Akito squawks, also very cute, if a little loud. “Wh- what the hell?! No one asked you to do that! What was that caption, huh!? ‘Look , it's the sun’!?”
Rui hums. “I wrote it as I saw it. I tell nothing but the truth and the whole truth, your honor!” he giggles. Akito is turning redder again. He loves how much of an effect his words can have on his husband, even after so long. Akito whines and topples over, hiding his face in Rui’s stomach. He's also hitting Rui again. Again, not very hard. Marital abuse, if you ask Rui. Whatever, he can forgive it, as long as Akito stays this cute. Rui brushes his hand through Akito’s hair and smiles. Then, because even if Akito isn't paying attention to it, he is, he unpauses the movie again.
After a while Akito also moves again, not very far though, just turning his face out of Rui’s stomach, facing up instead. He's falling asleep, Rui thinks. Akito's blinking quite frequently now, clearly trying his best not to, but from experience Rui knows it won't take very long now, until he's fully drifted off. When Akito yawns again, eyes fluttering shut for good, Rui leans down and puts a short kiss on his forehead. Akito will feel bad for making him carry his husband to bed again, he realizes. It sucks because in truth, Rui loves doing that. Akito's sleeping face is very carefree and it puts Rui at peace. Plus Akito always subconsciously turns into Rui when he's sleeping. It makes Rui happy that, even when he's not conscious, Akito still seeks out his presence.
He'll worry about that later though, for now he writes a quick thanks to Tsukasa and goes back to watching the movie.
