Chapter Text
chapter 1 :) :
"will, come on!! you can't leave! it's raining. listen, i said i was sorry, alright?"
will's angrily shutting his backpack, waiting to leave but he can't. mike won't let him, because he's too busy blabbering in the background.
"it's a cool campaign. it's really cool. we're just not in the mood right now."
"yeah mike! that's the problem! you guys are never in the mood anymore. you're ruining our party!"
"that's not true!"
"really? where's dustin right now?"
mike looks both confused and distraught. he hasn't really talked to dustin in a few days. mainly, because he's been hanging with steve. it wasn't his fault that dustin was hanging with other friends.
"see? you don't know and you don't care. and he obviously doesn't either and i don't blame him! you're destroying everything and for what? so you can swap spit with some stupid girl??
"el's not stupid! it's not my fault you don't like girls."
will's struck suddenly. right in the chest. the immense, overwhelming feeling of pain hits him out of nowhere. it's like a sharp dagger to the heart. it's like when your throat closes up in pain just when you're about to cry terribly. it just gets worse and worse each time he replays it in his head before mike says something back. but even then, he looks surprised he even said that.
his dark brown eyes gazes back into will's. his black hair just swaying in the rainy wind. his lips, just the perfect amount of dry and wet, open just slightly, like if he was going to say something but he was just silent.
"look. i'm not trying to be a jerk, ok? but we're not kids anymore."
will's eyes start welling up and his throat starts closing. he can barely keep the tears hidden as they become more visible.
"i mean, what did you think, really? that we were never going to get girlfriends? that we're just gonna sit down in my basement and play games for the rest of our lives?
in reality, will did want to sit down in mike wheeler's basement all day playing games for the rest of their lives with no girlfriends involved, if that meant he could spend it with his bear friends and him. mike. the love of his life since kindergarten. since meeting on the swings and swearing they would be friends forever. he just wanted to play dungeons and dragons, with his best friends, continuing their party, if that meant he could finally FINALLY be happy for once, after having to live through hell for the past few years. he just wanted to be happy. he wasn't wanting to be called childish, because his life, from when he was a child to now, was stolen before he even got to truly live it. he wasn't selfish. he was misunderstood. he was traumatized. he missed things the way that they were.
and before he knew it, he sniffled back his tears.
" i guess i did...i really did."
"will...will! will, come on!"
he hopped onto his bike and started riding away in the rain, finally embracing the tears falling down his face, and eventually wiping away some tears using his hands so he could see where he was headed. the sounds of the clicketing clacks from his bike chains and the heavy thunder occupying the atmosphere were the only things really soothing him on the long way back to his house.
mike heard the door open and turned around to see lucas walking up to him.
"lucas, i'm going to talk to will."
"fine. see ya later." he says, riding away on his bike and waving goodbye, riding back to his house. and mike waved goodbye back.
mike quickly jumped on his bike and dashed down the direction and road will was heading onto, whilst getting hit by the sharp rain on his skin. he could barely see a shadow. but he had to follow him. he just had to. "shit, shit, shit. this is all my fault. shit." mike yelled, cold tears falling down his face, and it was......(LMFAO), and even though he finally admitted it to himself, he felt like absolute shit. he felt like most shittiest person ever. and he was never going to forgive himself for this. as the rain poured heavily down everywhere around him, it motivated him to go faster ( so he wouldn't get even more soaked) and he could see will in the distance.
"will! will! stop! please!"
will turned over, starting to slip but he yelled, "go away, mike!" before getting back into the groove again.
"will, please stop! we need to talk."
will pedaled faster and faster, but mike pedaled harder. and sooner than he thought, he was almost right beside will. and they were almost to will's house ( a block away from mike and will's perspective.)
will kept pedaling faster, but his bike hit a sharp curve, which resulted in him flying off the handles and sharply hitting the ground with a loud thud.
"jeez. will, are you ok?" he ran over to will, holding him back. trying to snap him back into reality.
"get off me! get away, mike."
"we're staying here until we talk."
"no!"
"will. we're almost to your house. let's just- i'll walk you there and can we just- talk? talk, please!"
will groans in pain.
"fine."
