Chapter Text
It had been a long night.
Another gang war had broken out in Gotham, although Tim was reasonably certain that at least Steph hadn’t started this one.
No, this seemed to be a result of one gang stealing another gang's drug shipment. Tim still hadn’t enjoyed having to deal with it.
Now though, he was back at the tower, and could drink his precious coffee and do some casework before heading to bed.
Bart was downstairs, probably eating. Cassie was staying with her parents for the night so it was unlikely Tim would see her, and Conner was on his way over. Tim was hoping to be in his room before Conner arrived.
Not because he didn’t want to see him, but because he did.
His best friend/crush had been stressed recently, what with moving in with Clark and trying to learn how to be part of a family. Whilst it was everything he’d wanted for a long time, he was afraid it would now all go away if he messed up. Tim, for one, understood those fears. So he wanted to be supportive. But, he also knew that right now the last thing Conner needs is another new relationship to deal with.
So, he was keeping his distance until his feelings went away. There’s no way Conner would miss his heart rate increasing, or his blush.
So, Tim needed to get himself absorbed in the case he was working on before Conner arrived, which would be any minute now.
Taking another sip of his coffee, Tim put all of his energy into trying to find the link between the recent murder victims.

Kon was nearly at the tower. He was looking forward to being with his team for a few days and not having to deal with Clark trying to parent him.
It was nice, he had longed for Clark’s attention for a really long time. But now that he had it, he didn’t quite know what to do with it. Although, it was nice to have been given a name from krypton. He was looking forward to telling his team about it.
He thinks it would have been easier if Clark had gradually started trying to do better, as opposed to him just pulling a complete 180 and instantly move him in with the family.
Kon supposed part of it was to do with Jon, Clark was taking the experiences he had with parenting and applying them to him as well. Which would be fine, except Jon is 10 and wasn’t grown in a lab and taught to fear authority.
Either way, the tower is in sight now, and Kon is looking forward to not having to think about any of that while he spends some downtime with the team. He can hear Bart and Tim inside, and knows that Cassie won’t be there until tomorrow.
And that brings him to the thing that he already knows he’ll be stressing about over the coming days.
Tim’s been acting weird recently.
It started when he announced that he’d be moving in with Clark. Tim had smiled, and congratulated him. It had been a nice little celebration. But then, Tim started to avoid him. It was quite subtle, so subtle that Kon hadn’t really picked up on it until he realised that he hardly ever got to speak to Tim anymore, and whenever he did it was always short, and ending with Tim making up an excuse and leaving.
Kon doesn’t know what he did to deserve this, but he thinks this trip might be the one to figure it out.
He doesn’t want to be worried about both his new found family and his team leaving him.
So, he needs to patch things up with Tim.
He might try making him something, he knows that Tim has a secret sweet tooth, so perhaps baking him a cake would be a good start. Maybe a chocolate one? That should be easy enough.
He arrived at the tower, and stretched his hearing to find his friends. He could hear Bart sitting in the common room, watching a movie, and Tim was upstairs, working on a case. Kon went through to say hi to Bart and see what ingredients they had in the kitchen for baking.
“Hey Bart.”
“Oh! Hey Conner! Welcome back, how are you?” Bart’s enthusiasm made Kon smile, it was always nice being around his younger teammate because he was so predictably cheerful.
“I’m good, looking forward to spending some time with you guys”
“Aw, we wanna spend time with you too! Tim said he was going to bed but I think he’s probably working, he never really stops.”
“No, no he doesn’t”
He doesn’t want to feel useless.
“Well, I’m gonna go put my bag down then make some food, do you want some?” Kon asked, ignoring the empty plate in front of Bart.
“Yes please! Your cooking is the best!”
Kon laughed and headed up to his room. He figured that he might as well unpack now, he didn’t bring a lot with him. Once he was done, he headed through to the kitchen and looked at what they had.
After looking in every cupboard and the fridge, he decided that they really needed to go shopping. But, there was enough for him to make nachos. So he put the oven on and started layering the nachos in the dishes. Once they’d been put in the oven, he made up a guacamole and got out the last bit of the sour cream. He thought about going out to grab some more, but decided that he didn’t care enough to do so. Bart could go get some if he really wanted to.
When he heard the oven ping, he took out the nachos (thank you invulnerability for not needing gloves) and brought them, along with the dips, through to Bart.
“Thanks Conner! These look delicious!”
Bart was already eating, and had set up the next episode of the show they’d been watching together.
Kon had planned to get started on a shopping list, but he decided that he could do that later. He settled down next to Bart and relaxed on the sofa.

Conner had arrived in the tower, Tim got an alert that his code had been entered.
He didn’t come to see Tim, and he tried not to be hurt by that. It was a pretty stupid thing to be hurt over.
Conner was probably just busy.
Or spending time with Bart.
Tim was fine.
