Chapter 1: Sonic Lunch

Chapter Text

What should we do now?

Ross launched the question all of the talligans feared. The group chat had been silent for days after the incident.

Joe hurriedly typed a response and deleted it as soon as he entered the punctuation. It was not the time for that.

Is anyone going to check up on Rob?

That was Andrew this time. Forever careful and thoughtful of his friends, and looking after them. But thoughtfulness would not bring Rob back to the group chat.

It wasn't like they weren't checking up on him. They were doing that, and with a consistent frequency, except his phone had been confiscated and handed to some rascal that took care that every time one of Ross, Zubin, Joe or Andrew messaged they would receive a cheeky response in annoying code that told them that actually, Rob couldn't come to the phone right now, because he was too busy slaving for the kids' entertaining industry. That damned mouse.

That damned Matthew, too. It was all his fault what had happened in recent days. The Tree Town Sound studio had been swamped with angry Michiganders protesting the Sonic Lunch tweets. This time Matthew Altruda had gone too far. Fleeing the agitation, Matthew had retreated to the safety of his home, which was quickly proven to not be as safe as he thought. Dozens of Tally Hall fans set up camp outside and laid siege to the Altruda house. You reap what you sow.

Nobody liked all of the constant teasing about the Tally Hall reunion. This is why the angry fanbase had decided to take matters into their own hands and demand for this circus to cease at once should a Tally Hall reunion not come into effect as implicitly promised time and time again, over and over, to no foreseeable end.

honestly that was pretty dumb of matthew and i dont endorse any of what the people are doing but he did this to himself

i have a job to do

figure it out

Zubin was having none of it. For the most part he was over the whole band shebang as he had settled into a nice routine and, consequently, into a nice life. Joe, on the other hand, could not resist anymore.

As the Lord is my witness I call unto thee

Zubin retorted.

joe im sorry but not really

i know you miss tally hall HOWEVER im not about to put a stop to everything im doing rn for a chimaera weve chased for eight years already with very little yield

Andrew was hovering over his keyboard. He didn't want everything to break into a fight between Joe and Zubin, but, at the same time, he was on Joe's side. He wanted to come together with his buddies and play some tunes stereosonically, like the good old days. But they needed to go get Rob and, seeing as Zubin wouldn't budge, they had very few chances.

Ross, please help me out here.

Zubin, it's your word against ours

There are three of us

(Ross I am begging you)

Please, Zubin. We're only asking for a few weeks of your time. When was the last time you caught a break, anyway?

There was no typing for a couple of minutes. Zubin seemed to have lost interest, either that or he was drawn to matters that required his immediate attention. Ross finally came online again.

I get where Zubin is coming from, though

When I asked 'what should we do' I was coming strictly from a theoretical point of view.

I am impartial about the reunion thing also

Andrew grit his teeth lightly in frustration. If that was the game Ross and Zubin were going to play, it meant he had no other choice but to go grab Joe by the collar and go on a joyride to Cali.

His main objective was Rob, who could have used being broken out of Disney jail for a while. Maybe he would gain him on their side and increase their chances.

Joe, it's just you and me, buddy

Let's go for a ride. Whaddaya say

Also, Zubin, fine.

I get it

What you do is stressful, requires your undivided attention and dedication. And to that, I say,

Keep Up the Good Work.
