Rui is working on some props for Wonderlands x Showtime’s next show, when he hears a yell. Weird, he swears he didn't make anything odd this time. He doesn't have the time to get up before Akito runs in holding a plastic bag with something orange inside it. Oh no… Indeed it turns out to be carrots. Akito is going on a long rant about why these things should be illegal and how this is the highest offence Ena has ever dared to commit. Ah, it's probably as revenge for game night. Neither of the siblings had conceited, both arguing that the other was cheating (though Rui is pretty sure both were) meaning that they should be the winner. Since neither had won, neither had gotten cheesecake, meaning they had started an unofficial war. Usually it was stuff that would only affect the siblings, like the time Akito held Ena’s art supplies hostage, but carrots? That was just wasteful, considering neither Akito nor Rui eat them.
Akito is still ranting and Rui sighs. It's funny how many words Akito can use to insult his sister, but did he have to interrupt Rui’s workflow for that? He gets up and kisses Akito. I love you but calm down and shut up. When he sits down again Akito looks at him bashfully. Seems like he didn't notice Rui was working.
It happens pretty frequently that Akito goes to Weekend Garage. Call him sentimental, but he loves how it makes everything feel like back then. When they were working towards their goal. He talks to Ken-san a lot more now. Since An isn't there anymore, he helps out sometimes too. It's fun, but sometimes he wants to punch customers in the face. Entitled pricks. Luckily, all the regulars aren't like that, he wouldn't know how to keep his cool, if they were. And the pay is great too! Free pancakes whenever he wants? Truly amazing pay. Of course Ken-san had offered to pay him money, but Akito thinks it would be kinda weird to accept it.
Today he isn't working. He's just eating pancakes and drinking coffee, waiting for Rui. They wanted to go watch a new movie. He went to the park earlier, it helped inspire him sometimes. Rui had accompanied him there, but had to go receive a package after a while. He hears the bell ring, signaling someone walking through the door and looks up to see Rui. He pats the seat next to him and takes another bite. At this point he wouldn't even mind if they didn't go see the movie, this is just so good . When Rui sits down next to him, Akito swallows and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Hello~
They're visiting Saki and Tsukasa today. Akito wants to apologize for the destruction of their home and Rui is there for emotional support. When they ring the bell, Saki opens and smiles, inviting them in. They sit down on the sofa, drinking some tea, just chatting a bit. Rui keeps glancing at Akito. His husband is struggling, he realizes. They should probably work on that…
After a while of talking Akito still hasn't apologized. They really need to work on that. Rui takes Akito's hand and squeezes it. He quickly gets a squeeze back, but nothing changes in the conversation. He sighs a little. He's almost tempted to apologize in Akito’s stead, but Akito had explicitly told him not to do that. Something about it not seeming as genuine. If he wants genuine, he should say something! Another sigh.
The conversation keeps going and still no apology. Tsukasa joins them and still no apology. They're getting up to leave and still no apology . It's frustrating. So before they leave Rui takes Akito’s hand and puts a kiss on it. You got this but if you don't do this I swear to christ- His meaning is very specific and he thinks Akito only got the ‘you got this’ part of it, but it's enough for him to finally open his mouth and apologize. Tsukasa is very dramatic about what happened, but does end up accepting the apology when he gets an elbow to his ribs from Saki, who laughs it off and says, “No worries at all. Big brother had to renovate anyway!” Rui calls BS, but whatever.
Sometimes it happens that their schedules drive them apart for a while. Akito could have three different deadlines coming up and Rui could be planning a special show. They don't even go to bed at the same time. No, Rui tends to stay up till 5 am building stuff, falling asleep while working, not even making it to bed, where Akito goes to bed at 11 pm, getting up at around 6 am. Sometimes they don't see each other for days, despite the fact that they're living in the same space. Sometimes they only see each other in passing and that's almost worse. When it's Akito who's done first, he’ll try to stay awake with Rui, just watching him work. When it's Rui who's done first, he'll remind Akito to eat and go to bed with Akito. And finally, finally, when both of them are done, they'll spend the following days just together. Usually their kisses have different meanings, but when they're finally free to spend time together, all they'll say is, I missed you. The kiss on the lips after waking up, the kiss on the cheek when one of them gets up to bring the dishes away and the kisses before they go to bed.
Sometimes there's no reason for them to kiss, they just feel like it. When they do that, their kisses say I love you .
