Floods

Notes:

This ended very different from what I had originally planned (hence the tone shift, lol), but it's okay! (I hope, 😅😂)

Work Text:

The first time Paris was flooded, it was due to a cat’s inability to choose.

Akumatized and in a corner having to choose between obeying his villainous father and the love of his life, Chat Blanc hadn’t known what to do.

Hawk Moth had given him a direct order and the akuma within him wanted him to comply. It pumped the command through his veins, making his blood boil when he resisted and refused the command. He wanted the pain to end, he felt as if he needed to do it, but the order had been to cataclysm his lady.

His love.

The person he was meant to be with.

His soulmate.

He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t kill his lady. There was no way for him to harm even one hair on her beautiful head intentionally. Especially not with her staring at him with those big gorgeous blue eyes that were filling with sympathy and pain.

The agony brought him to his knees and he fought against what he should do until the power consumed his being, growing up until white was all that could be seen.

"I'm sorry, Milady."

"My prince."

The cataclysm exploded out of him so quickly it rapidly encompassed everything.

When the world came back to color, Chat Blanc found himself floating in the water that now filled his sights for as far as he could see. What used to be the tallest buildings were now submerged and there was no one anywhere for miles to see.

Sad and full of despair, Chat settled on a broken building and stared up at the broken moon and started singing to himself.

“Little kitty on a roof all alone with his lady.”

And he slept.

The burrow opened exactly twenty eight days later.

The second time Paris was flooded it was with fire and was due to a broken heart.

The fiery akuma was, surprisingly, none other than Luka Couffaine. For such a calm and soothing soul, the fire he hurled around burned so hot it melted steel beams. According to the akuma, Heartburn as he called himself, the fire burned as hot as his love for the girl who broke his heart.

Ladybug had been very distracted during that fight. She knew that she was the cause of it, but what could she do? She really liked Luka and she knew they could work well together, but how could she give herself to him completely when she was a secret superhero who had to put duty over everything. She couldn’t date him and be a hero! There would be so many missed dates, missed kisses, and broken promises.

Marinette couldn’t do that to Luka! It would hurt him too much and he deserved so much more than that.

“Ladybug!”

Shaking herself out of her thoughts, Ladybug ran to find Chat at his shout of pain. “Chat!”

As Heartburn continued to rampage- he was so powerful!- Ladybug felt guiltier and guiltier as she listened to his anguished monologues about his problems and she guessed she could understand his feelings a little more.

From his point of view, she had dumped him under the guise that she couldn’t be honest with anyone so she wasn’t able to date yet… only to go back to chasing another boy to date him.

That did seem a bit hypocritical and an excuse.

But she had her reasons!

Marinette wasn’t actually dating Adrien! Sure she would be excited if he decided to date her and she wouldn’t be able to say no. She had loved him for so long! The whole secret thing would be a problem just like with Luka, but with Adrien, it wouldn’t be! It would be easier because… It would make more sense because…

Um. Well.

It would totally be a problem.

Yeah. She could absolutely understand why he was pissed… and he had a reason to be.

“Lucky Charm!”

A broken Jagged Stone pick dropped in her hands and she instantly realized the solution.

After a quick illusion from Rena Rogue of an apologizing Marinette, Heartburn’s fire dimmed until it was nothing but a lit match and he began to cry tears that immediately turned into steam.

Heartbroken herself, Ladybug handed the pick to the downcast akuma who cradled it gently in his molten hands before pulling the one from his neck and handing it over to her. Quietly, Chat cataclysmed it.

“Miraculous Ladybug!”

Her Miraculous Ladybug fixed the city, but it wasn’t enough to fix the hurt and pain.

The third and final time Paris was flooded, it was with people as they celebrated the defeat of Hawk Moth.

It had been a surprising victory for Ladybug and Chat Noir.

It had been the seventy third time Mr. Pigeon had been akumatized. They’d quickly dealt with him and, accidentally, Chat had seen an akuma floating around the Agreste Tower as he headed home. He’d immediately made the connection and called Ladybug and they, literally, caught Hawk Moth with his pants down.

Because Gabriel was pooping when the teen heroes burst through the roof.

So stunned, he could do nothing but cover his manly bits as Chat put a hand over his mouth and Ladybug tore his tie off and grabbed the broach.

It took little to no time to convince him to give up the peacock as well.

He’d cursed them out as they led him out to the cops. He didn’t understand that they’d done him a favor by letting him pull his pants up before hauling him out of the house.

Paris had been ecstatic at the news that they were finally free of the terror that was Hawk Moth.

The Miraculous team was happy, even though Adrien was, of course, devastated by the revelation that his own father was the evil he and his lady had been fighting for years, but he celebrated nonetheless.

There were no more floods of any kind- except the Seine every once and a while when it rained too hard- and the citizens of Paris knew it was due to the efforts of their heroes, specifically Ladybug and Chat Noir.
