Cale found a dragon, or did a dragon find Cale?

Summary:

Dragons, great and majestic as only they are, also turned out to be very strict parents with the babies' nap time.

Work Text:

One thing was well known between the dragons and Cale, to them, he was just a baby. A human baby but still a baby, therefore he had to sleep in the center of the nest with the rest of the babies, even more so being the weakest.

And that's what was happening today, with the warm afternoon sun pointing directly at them, Eruhaben in his dragon form completely surrounding them in their own nest of blankets and pillows, appealing to their baby instincts that relaxed at the protection of someone bigger and stronger during such a vulnerable time as nap time, and then settling into a tangle of bodies and small limbs on top of another larger body.

Yes, to most dragons they were nothing more than babies to protect and make sure they grew properly.

Cale had protested more than once about not being a baby and being able to protect himself, but in the end, he always ended up agreeing to sleep in the center thinking that if dragons wanted to do something as silly as protecting his sleep then they could, plus he could afford to sleep soundly (and, without admitting it even to himself, happy at the thought of having someone looking out for him while he couldn't).

In Eruhaben's eyes this was just the proud attitude of his eldest son eventually giving in to exhaustion, like the baby he was.

Of course, at the end of the day, the dragons knew well that they were of a different race and certainly developed differently, they chose to ignore rationality and go with their instincts.

In the end, if they said they were babies, would anyone, other than Cale, oppose them?
