Work Text:
Where male dragons were protective, females were strict. The instinct to ensure the survival of the babies was strongly rooted within them, what was one of those ways? Sleep.
Getting enough sleep to be able to grow was the main thing, and where they were most adamant.
That was also due, in part, to the inability to secure most other external factors such as weather or resources.
Mila, a dragon who had already had one child, was not easy about it.
Today it was her turn to take care of the babies at nap time.
Her nest was probably the softest and largest of all the dragons, followed perhaps by Rasheel's, filled with furs and feather pillows covered with silks. Nice and plush, the kind Cale liked.
And it was Cale who was the first to fall asleep this time, fast and deep, as he clung to Mila's beige tail with little strength.
That drew a soft giggle from the dragon, whose wings slowly spread to cover the human, creating a barrier between him, the light and the noise the other babies were making as they finished their little game of racing before sleep.
Even when the laughter ended, a continuous noise steadily came out of the dragon's throat, almost like a purr that lightly shook her body as she watched the babies, she could tell it wasn't long before they came by the way their bodies moved slower and how On had already turned away from the rest, waiting for the others with sleep written all over her catlike face.
And just as he thought, it wasn't long before the babies came to the nest, side by side the dragons snuggled their tails together, the beast children on the other hand stayed in their cat form, Hong preferred to sleep attached to Cale while On was content to take the cooler, far side that would allow her to toss and turn as much as her heart desired.
Mila didn't do much, didn't move and didn't sleep at all, alert to any potential noise or disturbance that might disturb sleep or endanger the babies.
It's not like it was going to happen, who would be foolish and greedy enough to enter a dragon's guard full of little babies?
