After 15 years, the well-known and beloved TMNT leave their lair to become "heroes" only to get caught up in a conflict with an alien race called the Kraang, gaining an ally in the secret vigilante known as Shadow. They are quick to realize that becoming heroes isn’t as simple as it is in the comics their best friend April O'Neil gave them and that they have much to learn in order to successfully work as a team. With the help of their new friend Shadow, and multiple others that they befriend along the way, they can only hope to grow strong enough to keep their home safe from new and old enemies.
