    Summary

    ‘It was an old school photograph of a young boy, with his hair combed back and a proud and happy smile on his face. And if anyone would know who may had lost this in Derry, he assumed maybe Mr Hanlon would.

    “Is this anyone you might know? Maybe lost a photo in an album or something?” He’d asked the librarian, handing it over.

    Mr Hanlon didn’t have to say anything for Don to know he did. He looked like he’d seen a ghost, his eyes far off and sad. Maybe this was the look his mother had spoken about. So it was no surprise that once Mr Hanlon ensured that Don was safely home with his mother, he rushed off in a hurry, stating he needed to make some calls. And Don felt glad he hadn’t asked, because that look in his eye, it was awful similar to the look Adrian had when he’d seen the clown’s hand reaching toward him at the side of Kenduskeag…
