Give me hallmark as the summer fades away

Summary:

“Do you need help? You seem to be in a bit of a pickle.”

A voice that sweet like honey rang in his ears. Mingi turned around slightly, and saw a ridiculous handsome guy standing under the steps. He simply wore a white T-shirt and jeans that showed off his long frame perfectly. His eyes were twinkling, those chubby cheeks and red lips made him kissable.

Mingi kept staring with his very gay heart screaming in silence.

Chapter Text

“You can't be serious, right?”

It's a cloudy day in August, seemed to start raining in a few hours. It's totally not a great weather for camping but Mingi never learnt to be a flexible person. So here he was, frustrated with a call from his friend and the one and only camp buddy Yeosang, telling that he's gonna cancel this little trip because of bad weather.

“Come on Yeosang-ie! We've been planning this for a long time! I've always checked the weather and it just suddenly turn to be cloudy! Maybe the sun will come out in hours. Go with me please, pls pls pls——” Mingi was almost begging.

The person on the other end of the line gave a deep sigh, “Mingi-ah, it's definitely going to rain today and I don't want to get stuck in the muddy campsite! We can just make it another time.”

“I bought us a huge amount of hanwoo(Korean beef) and it cost me a lot! Wouldn't it be the best thing for us to grill it in the drizzle?”

“It's not going be a drizzle but a coming storm! And your little tent won't be able to against the tempest.” Yeosang continued worriedly, “Fine, I know there's nobody can change your mind that easily, just be careful, ok? As long as the rain start to get heavy, don't hesitate to pack your things and go back to your car! Call me if you need help. I don't want to lose you due to your silly decision!”

Mingi pouted, now he's gonna go camping alone. “I see. But you have to buy me hanwoo next time! For breaking the appointment!”

“Yeah yeah whatever, promise to back alive!”

Mingi hung up the phone, started the motor and set off his car.

“Damn that weather report!”

After a long ride, Mingi finally reached the campsite. This time he chose a wide meadow near a stream, which had room for five or more big tents and it meant that Mingi wouldn't be too lonely while he was in trouble(luckily Mingi wasn't a shy guy and he loved to ask for help).

He parked his car a little further from the shore and was surprised that there's only one car in the parking spot. It almost took him 20 minutes struggling to get those camping supplies out of the trunk of his car then pushing them near to the lawn steps.

Fuck, he felt tired already.

“I just set up my tent and cooking tools so I'm kinda free.” The hot guy continued, turned his head slightly and make him cuter.

“Eh, yeah, that would be nice. Thank you.” Mingi uttered and found himself blushing like hell. “I'm Mingi, Song Mingi, only if you want to know.”

“I'm Jeong Yunho. Nice to meet you, Mingi.” Yunho still smiled like an angel, “Now let's get your things ready, so that we could prepare for lunch.”

In the campsite there's a big-ass tent that looked like it could hold ten people resting in it. It's even more overstate that, in the front of the tent, there was a great many complicated tools: camping lights, a set of stove and pot, folding chairs and tables, a small refrigerator, from soup to nuts, necessary or not.

“Where are your other friends? You guys really have some pretty fancy equipment here.” Mingi pretended to look like less lonely and asked.

“What, I come alone.” Yunho responded, “I started to go camping by myself for almost 2 years now and I'm pretty enjoy it. You know what, if you go with your friends and stay with them, you don't want to meet new people while camping and it's a lot less fun.”

Mingi thought of his words and nodded slightly. “Still, it's amazing to find out your maximalism. And the tent, wow, to be honest it's larger than my bedroom. Is it really possible to set up all these by your own? I can't even carry my things out of the trunk without panting……”

“Well, I'm just experienced and strong enough. I guess it's your first time camping alone? Did your camp buddy abandon you or what?”

“Ufff, he thought the coming storm would kill me and he didn't want to die with me.”

“That's so wrong to left a cutie alone. And such a stubborn kid you are.” Yunho smiled brightly and mumbled.(in a made Mingi want to get in his pants way)

With Yunho's help, Mingi set up his tent and other things soon. Yunho set up Mingi's next to his quite naturally, though Mingi refused at first, saying something like it would disturb Yunho's private space. But Yunho insisted that they should look after each other due to the fact they were the only two camping people here.

He pulled out a plastic bag from the ice pack, staring at the overmuch hanwoo he brought.

“Hey, Yunho, may I ask you to have lunch with me? I prepared too much food for my stupid friend and I don't think I can finish all these. I owe you for your help anyway.”

Yunho glanced at a bag of hanwoo and his eyes was glistening like a happy puppy, “Yes I love to! Nobody will reject free hanwoo!”

Yumho suggested using his stoves and grilled the meat himself, while Mingi just standing next to him and played with his fingers. He tried to help, but Yunho always kept him from touching things.

“I'm not a baby you know.” Mingi pouted.

“I know, but you could be one when I'm here.” Yunho responded, but continued later as if he thought he was being too playful before, “I'm good at taking care of people.”

They enjoyed their lunch and talked everything. About they went to the same university but somehow never met before, Mingi majored in music and Yunho in literature. About their favorite games and animes, the characters and the stories they loved most. Mingi felt like a missing part of him was found, and Yunho had the same feeling too.

After a while they fell into a comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company like a long married couple. Mingi was happy, and he had never felt such a sense of security in a stranger he only known for a few hours. They exchanged numbers, made an appointment for camping together again if there's a chance.

They fell asleep in the recliner. Before Mingi fully in dreams, the sound of Yunho's breath lingering in his ears. And he thought he can hear it for the rest of his life.

Summer was coming to an end, but there's something blooming in the breeze.
