Chapter Text

Guillermo is a killer. A vampire slayer. Nothing scares him anymore. Or at least, that's what he thought.

After years of living with vampires who didn't leave crumbs or discarded food around, he'd almost forgotten about his biggest foe.

Ants.

As a child, he had once mistakenly sat on an ants nest. If he thought about it for too long, he could still feel their little legs scuttling across his body, the bites they left on his legs…

He hadn't laid eyes on one of those deadly creatures for over a decade. So when he saw that small abomination charging towards him, he couldn't help screaming.

He climbs up onto the chair beside him, heart pounding a million miles an hour. He hardly even notices when Nandor enters.

"Guillermo!" He shouts, eyes darting across the room. "Why are you screaming?"

Unable to speak, he points at the floor.

Nandor's gaze lands on the bug. "What is that?"

"Ant!"

Instinctively, Nandor crushes the ant beneath his boot. Guillermo lets out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Nandor."

The vampire eyes him curiously. "You are afraid of this small creature?"

"I… yes, I am."

"There is no shame in it," Nandor reassures him, almost placing a hand on Guillermo's shoulder. He opted not to and continued talking. "I forget that small bugs can kill humans."

Guillermo stares at him blankly. Did Nandor seriously think that was the reason?

"Your tiny weak body is susceptible to many poisons, yes?"

"Yes, but these ants aren't poisonous," he attempts to correct. "And even if they were dangerous, they would be 'venomous'."

"Yes, vemonimus. That is what I said."

"I'll just call pest control, it's fine Nandor." As he unlocks his phone, the vampire frowns at the screen.

"You trust these pest controllers? What if they betray you?"

Guillermo rolls his eyes. "What are you talking about?"

"If they control these ants, what if they command the ants to kill you?" Guillermo could've sworn he saw concern in his eyes.

He quickly shakes that thought from his head. "That's not what pest control means."

"I must vanquish these ants myself!"

Guillermo feels a wave of shock wash over him. The selfish part of him wants to believe that Nandor cares for him. That his determination to kill the ants was out of a desire to protect him.

He then remembers that Nandor will take any excuse to pick a fight, especially if he knows he'll win.

"Nandor, you don't have to–"

"Nonsense, Guillermo. I will not have my bodyguard murdered by ants," he says proudly, before adding on a comment. "Because it would be annoying to get a new one."

Guillermo smiles, letting himself pretend Nandor was doing it for him.
