The Kingdom of Paloma was envied by many.
It was often nicknamed “The Kingdom of Perfection”. This prosperous empire had merchants swarming every corner of the country like a beehive, as it is known for its vast lands with many natural resources. The kingdom had beautiful sceneries, absolutely worth dying for. Ranging from beautiful mountain ranges, lush forests that change their leaves every season, verdant green fields that stretched for miles, it all looked like a fairytale. The citizens of Paloma were talented in all aspects, with prestigious scholars making breakthroughs almost every two months, talented performance, dance and musical troupes touring the country and world all year round, and accomplished artists taking commissions from people all over the world.
Their sovereigner’s are just as perfect as their kingdom. It seems that they have everything anyone would have wanted. They receive the highest education in the country, knowing almost everything about various topics. With beauty unmatched by anyone in their country, their signature natural, ebony black hair with subtle pink highlights, snowy white skin, and perfect facial structures are recognisable anywhere in the world.
For Arlecchino, it was a blessing to live in Paloma, and an honour to serve the royal family. Her family has served the royal family for generations, her father serves as the king’s personal royal guard, and her older brother is the general of the military.
Arlecchino was handpicked to serve as a personal dame for the royal family’s only heir, Columbina. Her duty was to be by Columbina’s side at all times with the only exception being at night when she sleeps and when The Princess retreats to her chambers.
Arlecchino had trained tirelessly from a young age to climb the ranks and achieve such a high position. If you asked any knight in the palace, they would tell you that Arlecchino was a workaholic, even from a young age. Her father had trained her for hours on end everyday to build her endurance and strength, eventually it became a habit, thus she trained and studied endlessly.
When she was 16, she had started to outrank many outstanding knights. Even from when she was younger and to this date, she always had a frigid stare wherever she went, and her aura was so terrifying and cold. If you were stuck in a room with her, you may either feel like suffocating from her cold stare, or feel insecure, as though she could read exactly what was on your mind. Her poker face was impossible to break.
To everyone else, it looked like Arlecchino was just The Princess’s dame, a tall, fierce figure always shadowing her, alert at all times. However, their relationship was much deeper than that.
The princess and the dame, they were childhood friends.
