Wedding Bells

Summary:

Quinlan has a very important request of his brother, Obi-Wan. Plan his and Fox's wedding so Quinlan and Fox don't have to do it.

And of course, two of Fox's brothers will help with it.

For Codexwan Bingo- Wedding Planner

Notes:

Here's my second fill! This one was an interesting experience to write. I'm pretty happy with this one.

With Codywan week over, I've been focusing more on my bingos and hope to write more for this bingo over time. So expect more Codexwan bingos to show up!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Obi-Wan hummed as he finished up organizing his notes. He wasn't too booked, for now. He could take on another client, maybe two depending on the first one and how demanding they were on his time. This meant that he could do the lunch with Quinlan as his brother wanted.

He chuckled when his phone buzzed with an impatient text from Quinlan right then. He texted back quickly that he was just finishing up, he would be out shortly. He looked around his home office and sighed happily. The mess was an organized chaos sort of mess, but wasn't actually that bad, no trash or food or anything. He was caught up. This business was working for him. He liked having a job he could work from home.

“There ya are, Obes.” Quinlan grinned at him. “The usual for lunch?”

“Of course. Why would I want anything different?” Obi-Wan teased.

“Awesome!” Quinlan beamed at him as he started backing out of the driveway.

Obi-Wan leaned back. “So, you were pretty insistent that this had to happen, any particular reason why?”

“Well... let's wait until we're at the restaurant. How goes the wedding planning? Still going strong?”

“It's going great. Steady clients, who sometimes pay more than for the basic contract, and I love being able to work from home. I am so glad I quit that job to be a wedding planner. Only been a year and it's perfect,” Obi-Wan rambled, “I get to coordinate all the events, make sure flowers are perfect, color coordinate, and even play bouncer and yell at people when things aren't perfect. It's my job to tell people to eff off, so long as they're not my clients, and I haven't had any bridezillas yet. Or any entitled grooms either.”

Quinlan grinned. “That's great! I'm still so happy for you. I was worried it wasn't going to work out, but the fact that it is, is perfect. I'm glad you found something that suits you so well.”

“So what are you doing these days? Still making all the money?”

Quinlan snorted. “I can't believe all my self help books about vibes are selling so well. If the next one sells equally as well, I'm going to quit my job. I like investigating but the politics and negotiating involved is a pain in the butt.”

“Well, people who like psychic stuff find it useful, and those who read your books for the laughs are finding good tips too. What's your next book about?”

“Taking things too far,” Quinlan responded. “How to not offend people, basically. Don't be entitled Karens, that sort of thing. Because I don't want people taking that advice and being like those reddit posts.”

Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow. “You've seen posts about people doing that haven't you?”

Quinlan groaned. “Yeah. I want people to be good people while taking care of themselves. There's a line between taking care and laying boundaries and being selfish bastards. How did my joking self help books about vibes become so serious?”

“Because people took them seriously.” Obi-Wan chuckled. “Never thought the one between the two of us to write books would be you.”

“Never too late to write a book, Obes. I'm sure if you really wanted to you could come up with some story.”

“True, I just never seem to come up with an origi-Wait what is that on your hand?” A bit of sparkle on Quinlan's ring finger on his left hand caught Obi-Wan's attention.

Quinlan beamed at him. “Fox and I proposed to each other a few nights ago. I'll show you the ring once we're seated. He picked well, really knows me well.”

Obi-Wan grinned. “That's great Quin! I had thought things were getting serious, but I hadn't been certain how serious and didn't want to ask.”

“Neither of us were really sure we wanted to be serious, had a conversation about being serious a few months ago, and then we both proposed at the planned conversation to revisit. It was perfect.” Quinlan smiled dreamily. “Fox is perfect.”

Obi-Wan chuckled. “Good. I'm glad you're happy.”

“And now that things have settled with your business, when are you going to try dating?”

“Quin... you know how I feel about getting out there. I'm not in it for the sex. And most people are. I'd rather not risk it.”

Quinlan sighed, turning off the car. “You need to get out more. Coffeeshops, bookshops, libraries. You'll meet someone more interested in dating than sex there.”

“And everyone wants sex eventually. I'm not going to risk getting invested and having them try to change me.” Obi-Wan shook his head. “Now let's go in, I want to see your ring.”

“Of course you do, Obes.” Quinlan got out and wrapped his arm around his brother.

Obi-Wan wrapped his arm around Quinlan, leaning in. “It's good to see you. Sometimes I swear you've got no free time.”

“That's another reason I'll quit if the book sells as well as the others. I don't like having no free time. The only thing keeping our relationship going sometimes when we started dating was just that while I'm a detective, Fox is an officer and it can actually be easy to coordinate breaks even when we have active cases.”

“And Fox?”

“He's got an eye on a few different careers and is waiting for the right opportunity. Right now we're both trying to save up so we can get a house instead of living in an apartment.”

“If you need a place to stay, you both could always stay with me, you know that, right? I wouldn't mind rooming with my brother and his fiance, you know that right?”

“Last resort,” Quinlan responded. “We still have some things to sort out.”

They entered the restaurant and found a place to sit. Quinlan took off his ring, smiling at it fondly. He handed it to Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan looked it over curiously and grinned. Gold band with emeralds, stylized to look like leaves on a tree. Not a single diamond or diamond chip.

“Suits you.” Obi-Wan passed it back. “Have you gotten any comments yet about it not being a plain band?”

Quinlan groaned. “Don't get me started. Fox has been getting them too, since I went with garnet for him. We both love it though. Neither of us wanted to be simple. If we're going to have rings, we're going to have fancy ones just without diamonds.”

“Of course.” Obi-Wan chuckled. “I would expect nothing less of you both.”

Quinlan beamed before ordering when asked. Obi-Wan followed suit.

They chatted idly for a while, and then their food arrived.

It was only after they had been eating for a while that Quinlan actually got around to telling Obi-Wan what he wanted.

“Fox and I don't really care about a wedding that much. We'd be happy just going to the courthouse and being married that way. But we know both our families would not be happy if we don't have a wedding.”

Obi-Wan nodded, chewing on food.

“So... We want to hire you at your usual rates to plan our wedding. You know me well enough that I trust you to not do something I hate, and Fox is going to ask a couple of his brothers to help you with those decisions.”

Obi-Wan blinked. “You know I'd happily do it for free.”

“Then do it at a discount. We're not going to be involved in this. You have to plan everything without our input. Just tell us where to go, when, and what to wear. So I don't want you to be doing it for free. At least 50% of your usual rates for probably the biggest package, we're not paying you any less. It's more for the family than Fox and I.”

“What about invite list? Registry?”

“Uh... we'll get you a do not invite list. Gift registry... Uh. Maybe you and Fox's brothers will have to compile a list of what we have to put what we need on the registry? I don't really care.”

Obi-Wan sighed. “Alright. Biggest package then, no discount, with a couple of extra fees, but split between me and Fox's brothers for their help, if it's four or less of them to help.”

Quinlan grinned. “That sounds fair. Don't worry, we can afford it. Did you know our dads have had a fund set aside for us to get married since we graduated high school? As soon as I told them, they showed me the account and told me to have fun. Fox's family is big, but they always tried to make sure they had some savings so he's contributing some too. Whatever is left will go to a house.”

“We may still have questions for you as necessary,” Obi-Wan warned. “There are some things that really do need confirmation that you don't care.”

“Alright, as long as you try to keep those for a minimum.”

“And a date?”

“Uh...” Quinlan's phone chimed. He glanced at it then grinned. He texted Fox back. “He told his brothers. Cody and Rex agreed to help you. We're thinking maybe dinner tonight since you haven't met them yet.”

“That works. I'll gather my supplies and add you to my calendar.”

“Wonderful, you're the best Obes.”

Obi-Wan chuckled. “I try. Just be sure you both don't care and give us your hard boundaries because otherwise this can go drastically wrong. One of the fees is for how hands off you two will be. That's kind of a liability in my job. So extra fees. And a contract. Oh. Better sign a contract for the job, just in case.”

“Just come prepared. I am happy to let you handle all of it.” Quinlan waved a hand.

And with that, they shelved the conversation for the rest of lunch.

.

Obi-Wan had everything he normally needed to meet with clients. Contracts and all. This was going to be a challenge, and he was more motivated to get this right than ever. It wasn't just getting paid, it was his brother, and he had to get this right.

He arrived promptly and rang the doorbell. Quinlan answered and pulled him in, chattering excitedly about how they were super happy to have him plan, he would love Cody and Rex, and he was also really early.

Cody and Rex arrived together. They were close, living together, and training together. Olympic athletes in skiing. They didn't have time for dating, they just all the couple stuff together without considering dating anyone. Why go out on dates when so busy with training and part time jobs, and just didn't want to invest that much time and effort into a new person?

But helping Fox plan his wedding was a great deal. Well, helping the wedding planner plan the wedding was a great deal.

They weren't sure what to expect of the wedding planner. Someone Quinlan knew, apparently.

What they did not expect was the man talking with Quinlan as Quinlan worked on dinner. Fox had made dessert; he was far better at baking than cooking. The man was helping Quinlan cook, joking around and teasing him. And he was a striking figure.

Fox rolled his eyes at their antics and cleared his throat. “Cody and Rex have arrived. Rex is the younger, blond, annoying one.”

“I am not annoying,” Rex protested.

Fox ignored him. “This is Obi-Wan, Quin's brother, and he also happens to be a wedding planner.”

Obi-Wan turned to them with a smile. “Hi, it's nice to meet you. I hope we can work well together. There is a lot to do to get a wedding going. Especially since we get to make all the decisions.”

Quinlan grinned. “Obes is the best,” he declared. “He's gonna split the payment for his services with you two.”

Rex gaped. “Really? Why would you do that?”

“I don't particularly want a payment to help my brother out, but he made a convincing argument. He's also the most stubborn person I know. I may be making all the arrangements but you'll still be helping me do a lot of the work. The decisions, the investigations and all that.”

“Investigations?” Cody asked. “Why is that required?”

“We have to do things like figure out what should go on their gift registry, what most of the invites would prefer for food and drink, the best location, figure out decorations and flowers, all while fitting who they are.” Obi-Wan smiled. “I actually enjoy that, but I'll need your help with Fox.”

Fox huffed. “Leave me out of it as much as possible.”

“I'll just need a budget, any priorities, a no go list, particularly with who you want as guests, and a date and times.”

"Do we have to?" Quinlan whined. "That's still a lot of work."

Obi-Wan gave him a flat look. "I do not want to go over your budget, if you want me to prioritize say, having good drinks over a good dance floor is good for budgeting, and seriously do you want Asajj to end up on your invite list? I cannot make any arrangements without knowing a date and at least a range of when you're okay with everything happening."

Quinlan shuddered at the idea of his ex showing up.

"Well, Jango and most of our family is out," Fox said firmly. "As for wedding date... Uh... Fall might be nice."

"It's January now, that gives us at minimum eight months, good." Obi-Wan nodded. "Pick a specific one as soon as possible."

"I guess typical wedding times," Quinlan ventured. "Late morning or early afternoon ceremony, then nothing for a bit to get pictures done and for out of towners to get checked into hotels, then like 5pm cocktail hour, 6pm dinner?"

Obi-Wan nodded. "That's something I can work with. Pick out a date with as few conflicts as possible, or come up with several dates that work for the two of you, and we'll sort through possible conflicts with guests."

"In a week." Quinlan decided. "We should know in a week. That okay?"

"Perfect." Obi-Wan grinned. "The sooner I can get started on calling venues, the better, but a week also gives m-us time to sort through thoughts of what we're going to be looking for."

Fox groaned. "Are we done now?"

"For now. I will be checking in for that information again."

"Fair." Quinlan sighed. "But for now, can we just celebrate our engagement?"

.

Obi-Wan finished his work for the day. With Quinlan paying him, he decided to just make the days he worked on Quinlan and Fox's wedding shorter, ending his other work by two in the afternoon at the latest, maybe as early as lunch, depending on how Cody and Rex were available to help out.

He was taking this seriously. They were going to help him. No matter how ridiculous it seemed, he was taking their help.

This was a far better arrangement than some he'd had in the past with people who wanted to humor family with a wedding but didn't care about the details. Those people didn't give him anything on likes or dislikes, and didn't even designate people who knew them to help.

Cody and Rex arrived promptly.  He had just finished setting out tea and snacks.

"I'm glad you two could make it, come in, come in." He stepped aside.

"So... how is this going to work?" Rex asked. He was the more talkative one. Cody was the observant one.

Obi-Wan offered them tea and snacks. "I will give you some things to fill out for Fox. We're going to start with the kinds of foods, drinks, and desserts he likes. Along with things like favorite color and places to hang out. And most importantly, a list of birthdays and anniversaries and other important dates September through November to ensure we don't schedule it on one of those days. That'll just cause unnecessary drama."

Cody nodded. "Well, Fox's favorite color is red."

"Red, huh? Quinlan's is gold. Those two colors go well together, and more importantly, work well with fall themes, especially if we decide that we need pictures done outside."

"But not the wedding?"

"I'd never advise planning a wedding outside without having an indoor back up because you cannot control the weather, especially in the fall. It's nicer on the guests too, if they only need to worry about say, jackets, for travel rather than the entire time."

"Oh, I never considered that." Rex munched on a cookie. "I know Fox likes doing outdoor stuff when he can. He doesn't like to advertise it, but he likes nature walks and stuff."

"Quinlan adores the outdoors and climbing trees. So our venue for the ceremony or the reception should be near a place where we can take some photos outside." Obi-Wan made his notes.

Cody studied him. "You're not bothered to be planning the wedding with us?"

Obi-Wan shrugged. "I'm frankly impressed that they did not elope, especially with their current jobs. They've even given me plenty of time to work with. The worst of the job is getting the details worked out, then making the arrangements. Once all that is decided, the rest of the job is just staying on top of everything, and making additional arrangements for things like the centerpieces closer to the date."

"Oh. Huh. You make this seem so easy," Rex said, leaning back with his cup of tea. He wasn't normally a tea drinker, but this tea Obi-Wan made was... interesting.

Obi-Wan smiled. "I quit my day job to set up this business and I am far happier for it. It is easy for me, but that does not mean it would be easy for everyone else."

Cody nodded, looking over the forms that Obi-Wan had given them to fill out for Fox. "So, we fill this out, you look it over, and then we combine it?"

"Precisely. If one of them dislikes something, it's not an option. Unless the other loves it, then we'll just have to double up. Like, say, if one of them loves corn but the other hates it, we'll make sure corn and another veggie are options, so they both get something they like."

"That's sensible. What about flowers?"

"How much does Fox like flowers?"

"More than most. He presses them," Cody answered absently.

Rex gave him a surprised look. "He does? Well... I guess I'm not surprised he didn't tell us... we would've teased him to death, but why do you know?"

"I accidentally stumbled upon it once. He swore me to secrecy."

"Ah..." Rex shook his head.

"Then we'll have to figure out how to do flowers for them. Maybe not bouquets, but there are corsages that go around the wrists, and I'm pretty sure Quinlan would not say no to a flower crown..." Obi-Wan started scribbling down options.

Cody stared at him. "You really are good at this. Well... just tell us what you need..."

The rest of that meeting had both him and Rex feeling largely unnecessary aside for the sudden questions they had to answer every so often.

But it was so fascinating the way Obi-Wan worked. The way he jumped in and out of the different things he needed to plan without thinking.

After a bit, he set them to hunting for the right shade of red that Fox would like that would go with one of the golds Obi-Wan had picked out for Quinlan. Apparently everything had to be ordered based on those colors.

With some shade of orange and yellow to fit the fall color scheme they were going to end up with. Rex was a bit bewildered but set to looking at a color picker, trying to find the best reds he could. Cody was a bit busy writing down favorite meals.

At least they had something to do besides answer questions. Something somewhat difficult and time consuming, too. They really had no idea how much time they were saving Obi-Wan to begin with, just by answering questions.

.

The next few meetings went similarly. Obi-Wan on the move, making decisions, making notes. Jumping from thing to thing and back. He was all over the place, but he had it all organized in away that made sense, that allowed him to keep track easily of what was going on.

Not that Rex and Cody could make heads or tails of the organizing he did. But that wasn't their role.

They were helping him with decision making, with making sure both Fox and Quinlan's wants and needs were met.

"So, what about a sugar free option?" Rex suggested. "Several of our cousins are diabetic"

Obi-Wan winced. "We'll have to be careful. Quinlan gets migraines from artificial sweeteners. Count up how many cousins are diabetic, and we'll use that number times two to order sugar free, how about that? It'll be clearly labeled and separate from the sugared options."

"Oh, that should work. Are we ordering cakes, then?" Cody asked.

"I'm thinking maybe we should do a fancy cake for Quinlan and Fox. Quinlan loves the fancy things, he's a secret sap for the traditional like that. Maybe even a tiered cake. But then we could do cupcakes in varying flavors for the guests. Typically, I find that a vanilla, or similar option, some variety of chocolate and then a third flavor, like carrot cake, almond, or even something out there like pistachio works well for cupcakes."

Obi-Wan tapped his pen to the the table thoughtfully. "Quinlan would love the chaos of having many dessert options, so long as it's all labeled clearly so no one gets hurt. So tiered cake for the couple, and wedding party, then cupcakes of three or more flavors, and maybe something else, depending on the budget. Could have an entire dessert bar. Or ice cream bar."

Rex stared at him with wide eyes. "That's an option? I want that when I get married."

"I'll make a note of that," Obi-Wan replied seriously. He actually did make a note of that.

Rex made a noise of consternation. "Why would you make a note of that?"

Obi-Wan shrugged. "If Quinlan hadn't asked for my help, hadn't actually hired me, I would've helped out for free and pointed out these options. I have a list of things he's mentioned as liking in wed... Ah kriff, why didn't I pull that out before, that's so stupid of me," he started muttering under his breath as he searched his files. He seemingly forgot about Cody and Rex sitting there staring at him.

Rex leaned over to Cody. "I think he forgot about us."

"Yeah, he's pretty cute." Cody hummed, admiring Obi-Wan.

"Cody!" Rex hissed. "You're not here to pick up a date!"

"Doesn't mean I can't look!" Cody shot back quietly. "Don't tell me you're not looking."

Rex turned away, crossing his arms as heat rose to his cheeks.

Cody chuckled. "Knew it."

"Shut up."

"Hmm?" Obi-Wan looked up, mid sip of his now cold tea. "Oh! Sorry, I quite forgot that you're there. What are your thoughts, preliminarily, on what to do for the desserts?"

"Fox probably gets along with Quinlan so well because he's always loved chaos. We were all surprised to hear he was considering a military career, and still a bit surprised  when he 'settled' for the police. That's a bit more structured than we expected him to like." Cody explained, flicking Rex in the knee.

Then he considered the options further. "He would love the cupcake options. And a dessert bar because he adores cheesecakes and fruit bars. Apple crisp is one of his favorites. Ice cream wouldn't be amiss with anyone in the family. Fox isn't super fond of most ice cream flavors, but he would be fine with it since everyone else will love it."

Rex nodded in agreement. "And he likes being fancy too. He complains about that kind of thing, but he then takes pictures of all the stuff he likes. Oh! I might be able to find those pictures, we might have a better idea with that reference."

"Good, that's the kind of investigating I need you two for." Obi-Wan grinned.

All three of them jumped when an alarm dinged. Obi-Wan leaned over and tapped his phone.

"Seems our meeting is over. I'm rather hungry, and thinking about an early dinner. Care to join me?"

"Depends on what dinner is," Rex responded cautiously.

"I'm just about to order some pizza. Shouldn't be too hard to add your orders?" Obi-Wan waved his tablet at them. He started inputting his regular order.

Rex blinked, surprised. He hadn't considered dinner being an option with Obi-Wan before, since all their previous meetings had been earlier in the afternoon. This one had run a little later because they were having fun.

They hadn't needed the timer reminder before.

"Sure, pizza sounds good," Cody responded before Rex could.

Rex gave him an astonished look. Cody didn't like imposing. He usually only agreed if the host and Rex insisted. He didn't even hesitate this time. But then, Cody had been getting comfortable with Obi-Wan in a way he tended not to. Which meant it would fall on Rex to be the cautious one.

Cody noticed and looked away, one hand rubbing the other arm in a way that was a tell for embarrassment. And Rex knew it. Oh, so that was how it was? Rex made a note that it would be good to talk to Cody about this later.

Obi-Wan was oblivious, just asking what they liked on pizza.

"This heathen likes pineapple," Rex poked Cody. "I like a good buffalo chicken. Or pepperoni."

Cody gave Rex an offended look. Yes, his favorite was pineapple but he wasn't about to ask for it.

Obi-Wan lit up, beaming at them. "Pineapple with pepperoni, sausage, and jalapeño is my favorite. Would you want to try that?"

"Jalapeño?" Cody tilted his head. "I like jalapeños on pizza, never tried it with pineapple before. Go for it."

Rex stared between them, horrified. "What is wrong with you, pineapple does not belong on pizza."

"Yes it does!" Both Obi-Wan and Cody snapped back. They paused and looked at each other, surprised, then they smiled.

Obi-Wan took a deep breath and set his phone down before smiling pleasantly at Rex. "I respect your opinion. But pineapple's sweetness and acidity is a perfect balance to the rest of the pizza. Where is your sense of adventure? Why won't you love yourself?"

Rex stared at him.

Obi-Wan cleared his throat as he picked up his phone again. "I'm sorry, that was a reflex. A joke in my family, and friends. Quinlan and I were the only ones to like pineapple on pizza, but Ani and Soka can be picky eaters so we teased them a lot over their unwillingness to even try that."

"That did sound rather rehearsed."

Obi-Wan chuckled sheepishly and ordered the pizza after asking a few more questions about what they liked. Mostly to find out if he should get some breadsticks or any of the other sides.

Once the pizza was ordered, Obi-Wan stood and stretched. "You can get comfortable. I'm going to put everything away. If you want some water, tea, or coffee help yourself."

"Thank you."

Obi-Wan smiled at them and collected everything he was using for planning. He took that back into his office, as they had been using the kitchen table. He needed more than one trip to get them all back but he was done in short order and brewing himself some tea.

And then it was to awkwardly waiting for their pizza.

Until Rex noticed that Obi-Wan had a wii and asked if he knew how to play. Obi-Wan was nerdy so far, but it was hard to believe he played any video games, even the wii.

Obi-Wan gave him a withering look and challenged him to beat him in three different games out of five.

Cody watched with interest, playing as well for the fun of it. Obi-Wan grew up with Quinlan, and had younger siblings. There was no way he was as nerdy as he appeared. Cody didn't underestimate him, and was not surprised when Obi-Wan beat them in all five chosen games.

All of them jumped when the pizza arrived partway through.

It ended up being like a party they might have had as young teens. And none of them regretted it.

.

The time flew by. They planned out the wedding together, visited and did the testing together. A few times they were even mistaken for the couple getting married. That was awkward.

Obi-Wan was pleased to count Rex and Cody as his friends. Rex was great fun. They went and did parkour together to let off steam. Cody thought they were nuts. Which was rich coming from the dude who did all kinds of stunts when ice skating. And who's primary career was in skiing

Cody and Obi-Wan had some of the same unusual likes. They liked pineapple on pizza, they enjoyed playing games like dating sims more than most popular games. They both preferred to read young adult books for casual reading to avoid some of the more mature themes that popped up in adult books.

All three of them didn't mind just watching the others play a game. They all liked trivia and picking up useless bits of knowledge.

All in all, Obi-Wan was thrilled to have new friends. It was so difficult sometimes to find and make friends. Now that he was a wedding planner it was even harder at times. He didn't have to make nice with anyone besides his clients, and few of them would be looking to stay in contact after.

They were working on the centerpieces they were going to put out at all the tables at the reception. They didn't need to be perfect, but they would be memorable.

Obi-Wan glanced at his phone when it buzzed and groaned.

"What is it?" Cody asked without looking up from his work.

"Quinlan keeps bothering me about if I'm taking a date to the wedding."

"Are you?" Rex decided it was time for a break. He leaned back in his chair so he could actually look at Obi-Wan when Obi-Wan answered.

"No, I don't really date." Obi-Wan responded, unbothered by the question.

"You don't?"

Obi-Wan shrugged. "Never been that appealing to me. I mean, I don't fancy being alone the rest of my life, but dating is far messier than a friendship is by all appearances. And anyways, I'm too busy right now for a date. Really, why would I take a date to a wedding I'm in charge of?"

Cody and Rex exchanged looks. Obi-Wan didn't notice the silent conversation that happened. Even when both gestured widely at him.

"How about you be our date?" Cody asked.

Obi-Wan yelped when he stabbed himself with a needle. "What?" he stared at them, astonished.

"Would you be our date for Fox and Quinlan's wedding?" Rex passed Obi-Wan a napkin to press to his bleeding finger.

"I... what?" Obi-Wan was still bewildered. But not totally against it.

Cody chuckled. "We like you, Obi-Wan. We all get along well. We think it would be fun to hang out together at a wedding."

"And if dating makes you that uncomfortable, we can just be friends."

"Oh. Thank you. I... we can give a try, if we talk about it ahead of time?"

"Of course. Communication is the most important thing in a relationship."

.

Obi-Wan hurried around with final arrangements, making sure everything was good. He knew Quinlan didn't care if it was perfect or not, and Cody and Rex seemed to agree that Fox wouldn't care, but Obi-Wan knew others would. Especially many of their families.

Rather than dissuade him, Rex and Cody just helped him sort everything out. But there wasn't too many issues. Everything had come together well because Obi-Wan had covered every possible issue, and his back ups were just pulled into place as necessary.

The ceremony went off without a hitch, though Obi-Wan didn't let himself relax until dinner was well underway, with speeches being given within the time limits.

Quinlan and Fox's faces when they saw the desserts were priceless and made all the extra work worth it. Especially when they tried as much as they could and kept praising it.

The kids of their families were particularly thrilled with the dessert options, with plenty to go around for everyone.

Obi-Wan watched with a smile, especially once the dancing started.

Suddenly Cody was in front of him holding out a hand. "Come on, Obi-Wan. Let's dance."

Obi-Wan blinked in surprise, glancing around. No one was paying attention to them. Rex was grinning at him widely, nodding.

"Well... I suppose one dance won't hurt."

It turned into many, with Cody, with Rex, with both of them; he would face an interrogation from Quinlan later.
