Chapter Text
Everyone has a sentence written on their wrist. It’s the first words your soulmate will say to you once both of you realize your love for the other. That’s what they say anyways. However, Magna thought it was bullshit. The idea of soulmates was ridiculous to him. One person in the world just for you? It was dumb. Yet here he was staring at his wrist with the slightest bit of blush.
The sentence on his wrist read, ‘You’re so stupid Magna!’ It made his stomach turn in both anger and this weird warm feeling. He’s had the sentence on his wrist his whole life, yet it never failed to give the same feelings every time.
Who did his soulmate think they were!? Calling him stupid… well, going to call him stupid… Still! Magna couldn’t help but be reminded of a certain blond haired lightning mage when reading the sentence. ‘No that’s stupid! Why would he be the one? We’re best friends… and plus this whole soulmate thing is dumb! Always has been and always will be!’ He thought for the 11,037th time since meeting Luck. Even when he first met Luck he’s been having these thoughts, but he just couldn’t help it!
“Hey Magna! Open up, I wanna fight!” He heard a cheery voice shout outside of his door. He sighed and walked to his door. He opened it and saw Luck with a sweet yet mischievous smile. “Hi Magna!” He waved.
“Sorry Luck, but I’m not really in the mood to fight right now.” Magna said. Luck stared at him.
“Ok then…” Luck responded. Magna thought he must’ve heard wrong. He had to double check if his ears were deceiving him.
“What? That’s it?” Magna wavered in shock. Luck laughed and grabbed Magna’s wrist as he ran off. “Wh- Hey! Where are you taking me!?” Magna yelled.
“We’re gonna go have fun!” Luck replied as they entered the common room.
“What do you mean by that!?” Magna questioned. He looked and saw Vanessa with a triumphant look on her face. What did she do?
After they were both outside Luck stopped and turned to Magna to answer his question. “We’re friends aren’t we? Is it weird for us to hang out?” Luck questioned with the most adorable look on his f- NO! Luck isn’t cute in any way! He’s just… Nevermind! Magna internally slapped himself.
“It’s nothing, It’s just kind of random. What were you thinking?” Magna asked.
Luck smiled, “Well since you don’t want to fight with me, maybe we could go fight together in a dungeon!” He replied. Of course. Magna thought about saying no, but he has been bored lately and going into a dungeon with Luck sounded exciting. Besides, how could he say no to a face like that?
“Yeah, sounds fun!” Magna agreed with a smirk. Luck’s eyes lit up as he practically jumped on Magna.
“Thank you Magna!” He yelled. Magna was caught off guard.
“Hey! Get off or we’re gonna fall!” Magna yelled. Too late. Magna fell back with Luck on top of him, and somehow they ended up kissing. After a few seconds, Luck pulled back with a slightly red face.
“Oops! Sorry! Haha! You should’ve seen your face!” Luck laughed. Magna was frozen, processing what the hell just happened. He felt his face heat up. ‘Am I blushing? Why would I be blushing!? It was just a kiss… It’s not like I like Luck or anything like that!’ He thought. Luck eventually got off of Magna and helped him up.
“C’mon Magna! It’s going to be so fun!” Luck cheered before he started to walk in a direction. Magna shook it off and followed Luck.
As they were walking Luck was talking about potential fighting combos they could try. Then he started to talk about a funny interaction he had with Zora this morning. Magna could help but feel a hint of jealousy when hearing about that. Eventually he just stopped listening to Luck all together. He just couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss they had. Luck’s lips were so soft against his. It just felt right. ‘No! Bad Magna! He’s your best friend!’
“You ok Magna?” He heard Luck ask. He nodded.
“Yeah… I’m fine.” He stuttered. Luck seemed a little suspicious, but he ignored it as he spotted the dungeon.
“Magna look! We’re here!” He pointed at the dungeon. Magna nodded. They both entered the dungeon and prepared themselves. A thought suddenly crossed Magna’s mind.
“Hey, did you get permission?” He wondered. Luck laughed as if the answer was obvious.
“I’m sure we’ll be fine! Hey, let’s go this way.” Luck answered. Magna facepalmed. It was too late to go back now.
As they made their way through the dungeon, they ran into a few traps and monsters which they easily got by. However, Luck couldn’t help but notice how Magna was kind of sloppy in battle. Was something bothering him? Is it about the kiss from earlier? Luck blushed at the pleasant memory as he glanced down at his wrist. ‘I think I’m in love with you.’ Is what it read.
Luck was in love with Magna and he knew it. He was talking to Vanessa about it earlier and she helped him realize how he truly felt about Magna. Luck really hoped that Magna was his soulmate. Although, in order to know for sure, he needed Magna to realize his feelings for Luck if he felt the same. Luck was impatient when it came to Magna. He was impatient a lot of the time, but something about Magna was different.
“Is something wrong Magna?” Luck asked. Magna looked at him.
“Uh… no.” He lied. Luck’s smile faltered slightly.
“Don’t lie. I can see something is bugging you! Is it about the kiss from earlier? Did you not like it that much?” He questioned with a hint of fear. He was scared that Magna would reject him, so he needed to know if he should even tell Magna in the first place.
“No it’s not that! I just, uh… I’m just trying to figure something out.” He confessed. Luck nodded.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Luck questioned. Magna didn’t say anything. “Is it about me~?” He smirked. Magna’s face turned red.
“What!? No! Shut up!”
Suddenly, Luck felt the presence of another mage. “Magna, there’s someone here.” He whispered. Then, they were both blown back. ‘Wind magic.’ Magna thought. A woman came out from behind a wall. She seemed to be nothing but a petty bandit. She didn’t seem powerful enough to be a noble, so she must be a commoner.
“You two! You’re magic knights, aren’t you!? Just hand me your grimoires and I’ll let you go.” She demanded. Magna laughed.
“Like hell we will granny. You don’t know who you’re messing with.” He smirked.
“Granny!? I’ll let you know that I am 29 years old!” She yelled.
“Yeah whatever.” Magna scoffed.
“You don’t seem that powerful, but this should still be fun!” Luck cheered. The woman used her grimoire and created a wall of wind around herself. When Luck tried to get in, he got launched back.
“Haha! You have no hope of defeating me!” He laughed. She fired some wind at Magna and Luck, Luck easily avoided it and Magna just got one or two cuts.
“Magna, let’s use a combo spell! We should be able to overpower her.” Luck said. Magna nodded. They both ran towards the woman and used their combo spell. As Luck said, her defense magic was overpowered and she got hit against the wall.
“You brats!” She yelled. They both jumped back. She fired wind at Magna and he dodged. She started to snicker. Magna’s expression changed to confusion. Suddenly the ceiling above Magna started to crumble.
“MAGNA!” He heard Luck yell.
Magna opened his eyes and sat up. “Good morning Magna!” He heard. He looked behind him and saw Luck. They were still in the dungeon. That’s when Magna realized that while he was out, his head was in Luck’s lap. He blushed.
“What happened? Didn’t the ceiling fall on me?” Magna asked.
“No. Before the ceiling collapsed, I was able to grab you and move you away, but a smaller rock from the ceiling hit you in the head so you passed out.” Luck explained. Magna sighed and covered his face with one hand.
“How embarrassing… What happened to the lady?” Magna questioned. Luck started to laugh.
“Oh I beat her! Although, she ran off screaming before I was able to finish her off…” He spoke. Magna stared at Luck. He was amazing. Luck was powerful and just so adorable. Luck looked at Magna. “What is it?” He asked.
After a few moments of silence Magna answered. “I think I’m in love with you.” Luck’s eyes widened as he blushed. Magna realized what he said and covered his mouth in shock. Luck started to laugh non-stop. “Hey! Stop laughing dumbass!” Magna yelled. Luck eventually stopped and looked at Magna.
“You’re so stupid Magna!” He smiled. Magna’s eyes widened. He looked at his wrist and back at Luck.
“Y-you’re my soulmate…” Magna stuttered. Luck nodded.
“Mhm! Obviously!” Luck smirked. Magna gasped.
“You knew!?” He asked in disbelief.
“Not for sure, but I had a feeling!” Luck answered. Magna thought about everything.
“Hey! You kissed me on purpose back at the base!” Magna put all the pieces together. Luck snickered. “That’s not fair…” he mumbled.
“How are you going to make it fair?” Luck questioned. It was a question that didn’t need an answer. Magna leaned in closer to Luck. He put his hand on Luck’s cheek and brought him into a passionate kiss. Luck wrapped his arms around Magna’s neck. After what seemed like forever they pulled back to breathe.
“There… Now it’s fair.” Magna smirked. Luck was blushing and Magna thought it was adorable.
“You’re such an idiot Magna!”
