'What do you mean?"

'I mean i-'
Sir!!! Wake up!
My eyes were shot open as I gasped from the dream that seemed so real. I looked around to see who was in my room calling me. My attention fell on a silhouette at the foot of the bed. Yet, the more I looked at it the more familiar it seemed to look.
The recognizable voice uttered to me," your highness… it's time to wake up…" I instantly knew who had disrupted my slumber.
I sat up on the bed, never taking my eyes off of the man, "good morning, bepo"
Bepo stood shakily," I-i'm sorry…" he apologized like he always did.
I narrowed my eyebrows at his constant apologies, " it's okay, just stop apologizing…"
He bowed down constantly like he just forgot that I told him to save his apologies, "sorry…b-but what I did do right was the bath"
I yawned exhaustedly, " alright,...You can go, I can fix the curtains today "
Bepo backed away slowly, still apologizing, "thank you, sir…."
I sighed, it was a bright sunny morning in the kingdom of flavance. Even though my room was still dark thanks to the velvet curtains that shielded me from the bothersome light I could tell.
I pulled the silk sheets on the bed off of me and headed towards the curtains. I separated them, releasing the radiant rays from the sun.
It took a minute for my eyes to normalize the intense light as I pulled apart the other curtains in my room. On top of that, the voices of the people below were auditable even from the height I was at.
I found that so ubiquitous. Even so, I understood why they were being so noisy at this early hour. It was the day of my departure in search of a wife. Who would also serve as the future queen of flavance.
After all the curtains were pulled apart I went in the direction of my bathroom to freshen up before my long trip ahead of me. In the bathroom, I undressed and stepped into the large tub. Which bepo had prepared for me a few minutes prior.
A bit of a back story, My parents were killed by my uncle a few months ago. Which meant that as the 1rst born the responsibility of this kingdom fell on me. I knew that it was bound to happen but I didn't think it would happen so early.
I was 20 at the time studying in the medical field, and I was hoping to finish medical school before 24. Mostly because that was when I was originally going to be crowned as king.
I got out of the tub and exited the bathroom. I went to the large closet in my room, I looked through the close filled closet and chose the most formal outfit I found since we were going to a ball once we got to our destination.
"Hurry up big bro!" Lami yelled out to me as she burst in.
Lami's my little sister, she's adorable and helpful sometimes, yet she can be loud and disruptive at other times. I didn't feel right leaving her here alone so I decided to take her with me. That might have been a mistake.
I rolled my eyes at her rudeness," you can wait"
Lami jumped on my back and tackled me to the ground. It's something she always did ever since we were little. she's always been rough with me but I never minded it.
"Come on big bro get excited! You're going to find a wife!"
I got up to put on the dress shirt I picked out, "there's no need to explode over some person, why are you so excited I'm the one finding a wife"
Lami grabbed a pillow off my bed and danced with it around the room as if it were a human," it's been my lifelong dream to have another sibling I could relate to "
I slipped the dress shoes on my feet and stopped her," so you can't relate with me?"
"On some subjects yeah,...but others I want someone feminine to talk with" she threw the pillow at me and hid behind one of the gold chairs.
We spent a few minutes pillow fighting like we did when we were little. Eventually, my other uncle, Rosinante, came in. He separated us with both of his hands.
"Come on you two, the carriage is ready," he said as he put us down gently.
"Yay! Let's go! I'll race you there" lami challenged me. She gave herself a head start.
Being the older brother I am, I joined her in her little game. Rosinante sighed, trailing behind us slowly.
I was the first to reach the carriage which meant I won the race that my sister started. She accused me of cheating but we both knew she had no chance in the first place. I carried her and swung her around like a baby.
"You're so mean big bro…" she pouted like a child.
I put her down and kissed her forehead, "aw is someone being a sore loser"
She crossed her arms and turned the other way to hide her blush from me," no! Just get in the dumb carriage!"
I didn't listen to her, instead, I stood by the door and helped her get on. She thanked me and we sat down for a few minutes until the carriage started moving.
We got bored after only 30 minutes into the trip so we decided to play a game that she Plays with her girlfriends. It's called 'Never have I ever', I wasn't one to play such silly games but I had nothing else better to do.
She went first since she knew how to play it, "okay never have I ever been on a date"
I put a finger down," okay then…never have I ever annoyed my older sibling with questions about dating"
She turned to face the outside "Hey that's not a question! You're so mean!"
I chuckled and we had long conversations trying to pass the time. At the time I didn't think things through about the whole marriage thing.
Honestly, I wasn't looking for a wife but I was taught from a young age to never abandon my duties. I guess that followed me to adulthood.
Out of the blue lami gasped and took out a quill, ink, and paper."Okay, so what's your type?"
I didn't think about 'my type' that much because the thought of getting married never crossed my mind."Uh…I don't know"
She took a moment to think, "oh I know! You like to read so why not someone who's a critical thinker?"
"Sure" I just agreed, it's not like I knew much about women anyways so I figured why not give her a shot at finding me a wife.
She continued to write down her thoughts and ideas as I proceeded to listen to her ramble on."You can play the piano, so why not a musical girl-'"
Rosinante invaded our conversation, "and cute, bubbly girl"
" So true!" Now the two continued to talk and write down ideas for what they thought I would like my future wife to be like.
I just laid back and answered the questions they asked. It's not like I minded their suggestions, I just wanted to figure out my path in the whole relationship world.
I've been in relationships in the past, but they didn't end well. All except my secret one that's been going on for the past 3 years was with a noble. Nico robin, but I saw it as more of a sexual relationship. She was nice and all, even Lami liked her.
Still, I didn't feel that kinda of relationship was what i was looking for. I never told anybody about our relationship, I told her to do the same. It's not that I was using her for her body, it's just every time we were together it just ended with us in bed. I just hoped that she wouldn't take it the wrong way.
Eventually, night fell upon the earth. People around the world were now asleep including lami and rosinante. This meant that I was the only one awake in the carriage.
I turned to the window to gaze upon the beautiful night sky, I always loved the sight. I hoped that I would find someone who would have the same love for it as I do.
As I looked up at the sky a large gate with lights radiating from it presented itself to us. After hours of staying in the carriage, we made it to the kingdom of ryugu where plenty of princesses were waiting for my arrival.
After we passed the gates the glamor of the kingdom was shown. The lights were like none I'd ever seen. People were still up roaming the streets carefree of life's worries. Some were accompanied by poor workers who carried their bags.
I looked back to see hundreds of carriages following behind. They were most likely carriages of other royals, nobles, dukes, and duchesses.
Shivers went down my spine at the thought of having to choose a wife. The pressure was a lot, thankfully I had my sister and uncle here to help me decide.
We reached the castle where I was to make my decision in a few days. At the entrance of the castle, I was the first to step out. The chilly night wind blew like a blanket around me, there was no escaping it until I got in.
They tried to get me in but I refused to get in without my sister getting in first, so the maids, butlers, guards, and nobles rushed her into a room where it was warm.
Rosinante woke up from the commotion of the people moving my sister in. He yawned as he stepped out of the carriage. He asked me what was wrong, I answered simply with 'they took lami inside'. He nodded tiredly and went in to find the king and queen of the castle.
I followed behind him, not too close and not too far away. We were led to the ballroom by the butler whom they called 'brook'.
The tall man cleared his throat,"Prince- or I mean king trafalgar D. Water law,"
"I'm fine with just law, what is it?"
He was shocked for a moment but he quickly went back to his serious manner, "queen otohime would like to greet you once you are in"
I gave him a small nod,"It would be a pleasure "
After walking for approximately 4 minutes we made it to two large wooden doors. Brook opened both simultaneously revealing the grande size ballroom filled with people of high-class.
Brook stood still,"May I have everyone's attention please!"
The people stopped all that they were doing and turned their attention on to brook. Not one person questioned why.
"King Trafalgar D. water law has arrived "
Brook bowed, and so did everyone else In the room, even rosinantete. I walked down the middle where the people made way for me to reach the king and queen, each saying 'my grace' as i past them.
Once I reached queen otohime and her husband, king Neptune I bowed down and kissed both their hands."It's a pleasure to meet the two of you"
Otohime gave me a kind smile,"It's a pleasure to meet you too king trafalgarar D.water law "
I don't really care for such meaningless titles such as 'king' so i told her what she could call me,"Just call me law "
The whole room was filled with people gasping from their shock. They never heard a king ask for such a request.
Being the queen otohime was, she respected my request." Okay,..law… I hope you have the best of luck on your search for madam"
She hugged me, so did king Neptune and they let me mingle with the guests. Most of the people here were seeing if they had a chance with me. I wasn't the optimistic type so I didn't give most of them a chance. But the ones I did give a chance to were still pretty basic. They all had the same boring lifestyle, none were willing to try something new.
Hours came and went but I never found 'the one'. I decided to get some fresh cool air outside after some time to clear my mind.
I snuck out the ballroom and slipped through the guards with only luck. When I got out I ran, to this day I don't know why but I ran as far away from the castle as I could.
After 10 minutes I stopped at the realization that I was lost. The more I tried to figure out where I was the more lost i felt.
My surroundings were the trees, grass and bushes. I wasn't one to panic but this was an unknown place I was at. Every little thing made me paranoid, from the shadows to the grass.
Then a sweet voice came from behind me,"..um…are you lost?..."
I turned around and found myself face to face with a beautiful man. The moonlight lit only the part we were in ,that in turn allowed me to see his elegance.
His whole body looked heavenly, his outfit gave me the indication that he wasn't from a high class family.
He wore a thin brown long sleeve wool dress that covered his feet while he was holding a basket with fruits on one arm and nothing on the other. His beautiful dark brown eyes made eye contact with mine as he approached me slowly.
I was so stunned by his beauty that I almost forgot his question,."..yes…I am,"
His body language was showing that he didn't trust me. Which was bad In my case since I wanted to get to know him.
"Well if you are then let me show you to where you want to go"
I was surprised to hear that, it didn't seem like he wanted to."before we go ill introduce myself. Im trafalgar D. Water law, but you can call me law." I bent down on one knee to kiss his hand.
A light blush appeared on his face but he tried hiding it." Oh I'm monkey D. Luffy, and if it's okay with you call me luffy"
I took a moment to think of something i would rather call " no I'll just call you luffy-ya, it fits you"
His blush got redder from my comment,"..fine then I'll call you torao"
He wasn't seducing me at all but I couldn't feel myself being compelled to him. Maybe it had something to do with me being an alpha but it was like I had to have him.
"So where are we going? " he asked as we started walking.
I found no harm in telling him, he was the one who was nice enough to help me."The ryugu palace"
Luffy stopped dead in tracks," so you're royalty? "
I gave him a small nod."I am…"
" That's nice, I have a friend who lives there, what are you doing there?"
That wasn't what I expected, I thought his reaction would be totally different. At least I didn't have to deal with some type of fan.
I told the truth,"I'm Here looking for a wife"
"Oh okay I hope you find the right match, this world is filled with tons of unique people. You're bound to find the perfect person" luffy said as we walked side by side.
"Thanks, " I replied.
For the rest of the way we gaze up at the beautiful night sky, only making little comments if needed. Not once was he predictable, he didn't even ask me out like most did. If he intended to do that to make me back off it wasn't working. And if anything that made me excited, I enjoy a good chase.
10 minutes later he stopped, I decided to stop too." What's wrong?"
"We're here "
I sighed, now it was back to formal balls and preppy women. I looked back at where Luffy was before but he was no longer there. Where could he have gone?
Just as I was about to leave in search of him, someone grabbed my arm. It was my little sister.
"Big bro, I've been looking all over for you "
It was late at night and I didn't even know where he went, need less to say i would have gotten lost again. It seemed like the better option was to wait until the morning to try finding him.
Me and Lami went inside the castle where Rosinante was waiting for me. He scolded me and I guess I deserved it. But he said he was scared that something might have happened to me. It's been his biggest fear since I could remember.
When he finished scolding me Lami and Rosinante went back to the party but I didn't. It's been a long day and I just wanted some sleep.
I asked brook which room I was staying in and he kindly showed me where it was . It was on the 2nd floor. I thanked him for showing me before he went back to the party.
The room was much smaller than my own back at flavance but it was still nice. I couldn't see that much anyways it was dark and I planned to keep it that way.
I took a bath, changed into my sleepwear and plopped onto the bed. I tried sleeping but it was no use, all I could think about was luffy. I didn't know anything about him, hell I didn't even know where he lived.
That didn't matter, he was the only one I wanted. and I planned to make him my wife one way or another.
This was just the beginning of my journey to making monkey D. Luffy, my wife.
