Mikey's both way too excited and way too nervous. Several times while heading up above the surface to Jones Auto he needs to stop and shake it out, flapping his arms until he feels less like screaming happily.
He's going to introduce Mondo to his dad tonight. Yeah, Mondo's already met his siblings, but this is his dad. It's an important relationship milestone. It's another sign that they're committed to this, that they're both planning on sticking around.
If it doesn't go well, it's not the end of the world, but it feels like it will be. He likes Mondo so much. It's been just over a week since they started dating and Mikey already knows he's in love. And he loves his dad. He wants the two of them to get along.
This is what normal teens have to worry about, Mikey thinks, and feels another flash of giddiness. He counters it with a deep breath. Up ahead, he can see the light of the entrance, growing closer with every second.
More and more, Mikey's been feeling like he's allowed to have this. Like being a regular kid isn't so far out of the realm of possibility for him. He has a feeling he'll keep having more of those moments, that things are going to be like this.
And he's got his boyfriend - his sweet, cute, funny, totally rad boyfriend - to thank for that.
Mikey really needs to kiss him.
