Summary
There is a reasonable, healthy desire to satisfy one's curiosity upon receiving a missive; pointedly, when it is one such missive that proclaims the existence of a newfound, unexpected and not-unwelcome infatuation from a gentleman far-out in the Piltovian sea
And often, such curiosities in such a missive can only be remedies by way of replying to said-admirer... or perhaps, more correctly when reviewing the contents of the letter and the circumstances around it, replying to one's betrothed.
Upon receiving word of your engagement to one Captain S. Shimmerson, and a letter containing penmanship from a man with the same identity, the curiosity demanded you to satisfy it in the only way available, which was, of course, to reply.
For salvation, or damnation, that is exactly what you did. In hopes, of finding your satisfaction.
