As Eloise continued, her voice did not rise in volume, but it did in temperature. The lady's eyebrow rose higher and higher. She did not interrupt Eloise, but at the end of the eloquent speech, her eyes gained an understanding with a pitying expression. "Now I understand why you like this work," she tapped her hand on the stacked books, "You just like this author, hate women. You envision yourself as superior."

jay pouted, which seemed to be enough of an answer. “well, good thing you caught me when you did. nobody uses these roads anymore.”
that seemed to snap jay from his stupor. “say what now?”
