Parent Teacher Conference

Summary:

Izuku has Parent Teacher Conference, but he's staying with his dad for the summer. Will the number one villain's disguise be good enough to fool All Might?

Notes:

Can I just say that I really, REALLY hate crack. Especially writing it. No disrespect to anyone who likes reading or writing it, please continue to do so. But for me it's like pulling teeth. The only reason I wrote this was because I love Artemis and they were really excited about this event and now that it's over I will never have to do it again. I am yeeting this into the internet and plan to never read it again.

So enjoy if you enjoy, but if it's just really bad please don't tell me because I already know. Here is my entry for the Love What You Hate event!

Work Text:

All for One dropped Izuku into the vault and he landed with a loud, “Oomph!” onto the pillows.  He looked up at the villain and glared.  “You can’t hope to keep me in here!”

“Now, now, Izuku, you’re being much too dramatic about all of this.  I told you you would be grounded to your room if you caused a scene.” All for One replied.

“This isn’t my room!  This is a vault!” Izuku got up and did his best to look large and intimidating, a difficult task considering that All for One was nearly three times his height.  “When Mom finds out-!”

“What your mother doesn’t know won’t hurt her.” All for One said dismissively.  “Honestly, little one, what were you thinking running up to those heroes like that?  Trying to convince them that you’d been kidnapped by a villain?”

“You are a villain!  This is a kidnapping!” Izuku shouted.

“Inside voice, Izuku.  I may be a villain, but this is not a kidnapping.  I have custody of you every summer.” All for One told him.  “Now, take a few hours to calm down and think about what you’ve done, then we’ll have dinner together, son.”

“Don’t leave me in here!” Izuku shouted, but the door had already closed.  He picked one of the pillows up off the ground and threw it at the door.  It was a solid hit, but did no damage and fell harmlessly to the floor to join the rest.

Izuku had never liked summers with his dad.  Most summers he didn’t even bother coming to get him, letting him stay with his mother instead.  But now, all of the sudden, he was trying to make up for lost time.  Probably because Izuku had gotten into a hero school and acquired his dream Quirk.

Growing up, Izuku hadn’t ever known that his father was a villain.  He knew that he didn’t like heroes, but that was fine.  But as soon as his father had come to pick him up, Izuku had put the pieces together.  Of course he was a villain.  Of course he was the villain Izuku was destined to fight.  He’d expected torture, brainwashing, maybe some evil expiriments, but the most he’d gotten so far were horrible dad jokes and even worse “Dad Talks”.  And, of course, time spent in this windowless room with the kind of security he would expect to see in Tartarus.

After grumbling to himself for a while, Izuku pulled out his homework and started working on it.  He checked his schedule for deadlines and froze when he saw a date circled in the coming week.  Parent Teacher Conference.

“Oh no.” Izuku breathed aloud.  “Oh no… oh no!”

Parent Teacher Conference?  Next week?  While he was still with his villain father?  He couldn’t bring his dad to Parent Teacher Conference!  Absolutely not, he couldn’t let him find out about this, it would be a complete disaster.

“If Dad comes they’ll find out he’s a villain and then I’ll get in trouble!  I’ll be kicked out of UA!  All Might will make me give One for All back!  He’ll hate me!  If he knows that my dad is a villain- no, no, wait!  That’s what I want!  If All Might finds out, he won’t let Dad keep me!  Of course he’ll recognize All for One!  He’ll beat him up and then maybe I’ll go live with All Might instead!  Oh gosh, does All Might want to adopt me?  That would be so cool, but Dad wouldn’t ever let that happen- unless All Might beat him up as soon as he saw him!  It’ll be perfect!  And if dad doesn’t come, then I can tell mom that he’s been a terrible guardian and she won’t let him take me again!  It’s a perfect plan!  I can’t lose!”

“Izuku?” All for One knocked on the door as he opened it.  “What are you mumbling about now, little one?”

“Oh, nothing!” Izuku said quickly, putting on a smile.  “I was just thinking about Parent Teacher Conference next week!  It’s going to be so hard to tell Mom about it, she’s already so busy… but I’ll lose credit if I don’t have a parent who can come…”

“Izuku, you don’t have to be afraid to ask me.  Of course I’d be able to come and support you at school.” All for One said.

“But Dad, it’s at my hero school.” Izuku said.  “You’d be meeting all my hero teachers, you’d be meeting my favorite teacher All Might!  Isn’t that… I don’t know, a little dangerous for you?  Since you’re such an awful villain and everything.”

“I’ll put on a disguise.” All for One shrugged.  “Don’t worry, son, I’ll make sure everything goes perfectly for you.”

Holding back a laugh, Izuku nodded.  “Sure dad, if you say so.  But if you have to back out, I’m sure mom will understand.”

“Dad, are you ready?” Izuku called.  He wondered what kind of disguise his father was going to be wearing.  If it was a good one, he would have to find a way to sabotage it.  His teachers were smart, especially All Might, so he probably wouldn’t have to do anything, but it never hurt to be prepared.

"Yes, I'm coming." His father said.

Izuku turned and gaped.  "You're wearing… that?  Your villain costume?"

"Well I can't just be showing my face." All for One replied from behind his mask.

"You don't have a face.” Izuku said.

“Precisely.” All for One adjusted the cuffs of his sleeve.  “Now, shall we get going?”

“You’re serious?” Izuku asked incredulously.  “You’re going dressed just like that?” This might be easier than he thought!

“Well, there is one last touch.” All for One said.  He pulled out a plastic pair of glasses with an attached nose, comically large, and a mustache.  Fitting them over his mask, he nodded to himself and then turned to the door.

Izuku was completely frozen, tring to process this sudden turn.  His instinct was to laugh, because the whole thing was so completely ridiculous, but it was too ridiculous for him to even do that.  That was what he had meant by a disguise?  Something straight out of a cartoon panel?  In that instant, Izuku doubted everything he had ever known to be true.  Was his father really a terrifying villain?  Were superpowers real? Was he now a self aware cartoon character, about to be the end of someone’s joke?

“Izuku, are you coming?” All forOne asked.  “We don’t want to be late.”

“Y-Yeah.” Izuku stuttered.  “I’m- what- you can’t be serious-!”

“I’m very serious about your education, son.” All for One replied, but all Izuku could see was the cartoon expression the glasses seemed to give him.

“You can’t wear that!” Izuku cried.  “We’re going to see All Might!   You’re going to embarrass me in front of him!”

“Embarrass you?” All for One repeated.  “But you insisted I come along.  You made such a big deal about not wanting to bother your mother but being too scared to ask me.”

“That’s not what-!” Izuku began.

“So here I am, perfectly disguised and ready to meet yourteachers!” All for One finished.

“They're going to recognize you!” Izuku cried.  “Like, immediately!”

“I’m sure everything will go just fine.” All for One assured him.

“At least things are going according to plan.” Izuku mumbled to himself, following his father out of the house.

Izuku ran ahead of All for One to greet All Might.  Something about how his father's confidence was making him nervous.  He knew All Might was going to see through the disguise right away, but he figured it couldn't hurt to give him a heads up.

"All Might!" Izuku was so glad to see him.

"Ah, young Izuku." All Might smiled at him.  "Are you ready for your parent teacher conference?  I must confess, I'm very nervous to be meeting your father.  What if he doesn't like me?"

"All Might, about my dad-." Izuku began.

"Ah, you must be Mr. Midoriya!" All Might said as All for One came up behind Izuku.

Finally! Izuku thought, nearly letting out a sigh of relief.  As soon as he took a good look at All for One, All Might was going to SMASH him out of UA for good!  He couldn't hold back a grin as he imagined how far All for One would be sent flying…

"All Might, yes?  My son speaks very highly of you." All for One said, offering a hand to shake.

“It’s so good to finally meet you.” All Might accepted the hand and shook it.

Izuku held his breath.

“Yes, I’m sure.” All for One replied.

Izuku looked between them expectantly.  All Might was smiling, still looking as goofy and nervous as ever.  There was a warm, fuzzy feeling in the air and he felt the need to swat it away.  He waited a moment longer.  Any second now, any second…

“Yes, I’ve been looking forward to meeting you!  Izuku doesn’t talk about you very often, so I’ve always wondered- but you look like an outstanding father!”

“Yes, yes, of course I am.” All for One agreed, sounding pleased with himself.

“What?!?” Izuku cried, unable to take it any longer.

“What’s wrong, my boy?” All Might asked, looking down at him.

“No, you can’t- All Might!  It’s him!  He’s a villain!  Don’t you recognize him?” Izuku cried, pointing at All for One.

“Your father?” All Might asked.  “Izuku, what are you talking about?  This is Parent Teacher Conference!”

“I’m afraid that Izuku has villainized me in his mind.” All for One said as if he were in some melodrama.  He even went so far as to wipe an imaginary tear away from under his fake glasses.  “I suffered a terrible injury several years ago and wasn’t able to spend time with him during the summers like I used to.  He’s never forgiven me.”

“Ah, I see.” All Might replied, covering his heart with his hand.  “That must have been hard for both of you.”

“No!  He’s- He’s wearing a plastic mustache!  All Might, I don’t have daddy issues!  I need you to get rid of him for me!”

“He doesn’t want to stay with me this summer, he was even too afraid to ask me to come to this meeting with him.” All for One said.

Izuku grabbed a fistful of his hair.  “Stop that!  You’re making me look crazy!”

“It’s all right, Izuku, I’m sure things will go better now that your father is well enough to spend time with you again.” All Might told him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

“No, I don’t want to spend time with him!  He’s a criminal!  All Might, come on!  He destroyed half your body!  Just SMASH him already!  He’s- He’s keeping me in a vault at home!  Like, a literal bank vault!  That’s dangerous, right?  Right?  You’re a hero, so you have to help!”

“Maybe I should take Izuku home.” All for One said, adjusting his plastic glasses.  “He’s been very stressed about us meeting.  I think I embarrass him on top of everything.”

“You’re doing a wonderful job as a father.” All Might assured him.  “We can reschedule if you think it would be best.”

“No!  I don’t want to go back there!” Izuku insisted.  He just knew that if he was taken back home, he would be put in the vault again.  “We have to do it today!”

“If you’re sure…” All Might said hesitantly.

“Let’s get this over with.” All for One said.  “Then we don’t have to worry about it again.”

“Right this way then, Mr. Midoriya.” All Might said, leading the way.

“Thank you.  I’m excited to see how Izuku has been doing in school.  He never tells me anything.” All for One followed.

Izuku stayed where he was.  He could hear All Might and All for One making pleasant small talk, he even heard them laugh a little as they got farther from him.  For now, his brain had simply stopped working.  All thoughts he had took the form of glasses with plastic nose and mustache and for a long time, that was the only thought he could make.  So much for the flawless plan.  It looked like more vault time tonight.
