As Pretty As A Sculpture

Notes:

I wanted to work on some stuff in October, but I wanted to do my own word prompts for each day.

Day 2:
Sculpture or Blackmail

I picked "Sculpture".

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jason was trying very hard to ignore the comparison that his brain was making between Tim and a Greek sculpture. No . There was a specific sculpture that Tim reminded Jason of. The statue David created by Michelangelo. All lean muscle, and hidden power. The hair wasn’t the same, but the glare was dead on.

Even with all of Tim’s scars that had been accumulated over the years. Tim was beautiful. In Jason’s opinion, the scars that littered Tim’s body only told an amazing story of the warrior that Tim had become over the years. Of mistakes and lessons learned, but overcoming obstacles, nevertheless.

Jason couldn’t even deny that he had been distracted more than once, watching Tim fight. The gracefulness that Tim exuded masked the fact that the man was a force to be reckoned with. It was easy to forget in some ways that Tim was very much using the force of a full-grown man. The power wielded perfectly to hide it until it was too late for his enemies. Even in the Red Robin costume the only thing that hid Tim’s perfectly toned muscles was the cape, and even that barely did anything.

No matter how distracting Tim’s body could be to Jason, with its sheer perfection, Tim’s mind was just as beautiful to Jason. Jason would be more than happy to tell Bruce to his face that Tim was smarter than him. It was the truth after all. No matter how good Bruce might be, Tim was better.

Tim wasn’t just a brilliant detective, though. He was brilliant manipulative businessman. Jason had only ever heard stories from the news or Tim about Janet Drake, but her prowess and command of a gala or boardroom was pretty much universally known. Jason would say that you would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb to not see that those same skills had been passed down to Tim.

Jason had seen Tim bring people to their metaphorical knees with a few well-placed words. Businessmen put in their place for assuming that Tim was too young to run WE, rich old-money women at galas trying to undermine Tim’s authority.

Jason had watched Tim at the galas a lot. Tim glided smoothly around a gala perfectly. His mother’s lessons put to the exact use they were meant for.

His gracefulness wasn’t quite the same between Red Robin’s suit and Tim Drake’s business suit, but it was always mesmerizing to Jason. Jason had never personally seen Tim make the switch, and Jason thinks that that is part of the mystique for him.

In Jason’s opinion, Tim was the definition of the words attractive and beautiful. Jason could stare at Tim for hours and never lose interest. It was never one specific thing for Jason. It wasn’t just Tim’s lithe body and coiled muscle. It was Tim’s bright blue eyes that hid how alert he always was, whether he was one cup of coffee in or six cups in. It was Tim’s hair that always looked good to Jason even when Tim had just rolled out of bed after sleeping for 15 hours straight.

Tim was perfect to Jason.

“Jay, are you even listening to what I’m saying?”

Jason shook his head and looked away from Tim for a moment to collect himself, before responding. “Sorry. I haven’t slept in three days.”

“Then go get some sleep. We can work on the case later.” Tim said.

Jason let his head hit his forearms that were rested on the table. “That sounds like an excellent idea.”

“Jay. Don’t fall asleep here. I’m not above sending Steph or Cass after you, you know.”

Jason lifted his head and started getting up. “Okay, Prettybird. I get it. Going to find an actual bed. Okay?” Jason was too tired to realize his slip with the nickname, as he walked away.

If Jason had been more awake, he would have noticed Tim’s tiny stumble and blush at the nickname Jason had used.

“Good night, Jason.” Tim’s smile was small, but genuine.

“Good night, Tim.” Jason smiled to himself.
