Silver was racking his brain, trying to think of the perfect birthday present for Shadow. He knew Shadow was tough to shop for, but he wanted to find something that would really make him happy.
What kind of gift would make him the happiest to receive?
He spent the next few days trying his hardest to figure out what the other would want but came up empty-handed.
The next time he saw Shadow was on his birthday.
He showed up on the black hedgehog's doorstep, looking like he was on the verge of crying.
"Silver? Hey, what's wrong?" He led the other to the couch and held him close.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't find you a good gift."
Shadow let out a laugh. "Darling, I don't want anything for my birthday. All I really want is you. You mean so much more to me than a gift does."
