“what movie are we even watching, mizuki?” ena asked, hand in hand with her partner. mizuki was taking her out on a date to a cinema to watch a movie that just came out. ena didn’t even know what movie, they just randomly messaged her on nightcord saying;
‘dress up, buttercup! we’re going on a date today! idc if you’re busy 😈’ and here they are.
“it’s a secret~!” they said in that teasing tone of theirs. “c’mon, we’re gonna be late!”
it took a little while, but they eventually got to the movie theater. they paid for their tickets, which mizuki made ena close her eyes so she wouldn’t see what movie they were watching, and they bought some popcorn and snacks, which were ridiculously expensive, then walked to their designated location.
they sat found some seats almost at the top of the theater and sat, their hands still intertwining with one another. “is this a horror movie?” ena asked. she absolutely hated horror movies, after them, she would get paranoid walking around the house, or doing literally any. in case the villain from the horror movie comes out of nowhere.
“yes!”
“mizuki! you know i hate horror movies!”
mizuki moved the popcorn around in their lap. “don’t worry, i’m the strongest out of both of us here! i’ll protect you! and you can count on me!” they were being self-assured like they always were. but this time, that sentence made ena feel better. “oh look look! it’s starting!” ena turned to what mizuki was pointing.
but always, before the original movie starts, there’s always a trailer for another movie.
after the trailer, the official movie started, and finally showed the name of the movie. “it??!!! isn’t that like, the scariest movie ever??” she whispered-yelled, attaching herself to mizuki’s arm.
“it’s not the ‘scariest’ movie, and it’s not even scary!” mizuki said to her, plopping kennels of popcorn into their mouth. “just cling onto me if you’re scared! i’ll protect you!” they placed a hand on their heart.
ena didn’t say anything to them. they didn’t get mad at them for saying that, so maybe she didn’t care? plus, she held onto their arm tighter. so that’s a good thing, right?
in the middle of the movie, they are all out of their snacks and popcorn. mizuki only realized that when they reached into the popcorn bowl and felt nothing but butter at the bottom. “hey, ena, we’re all out of popcorn, i’m gonna go get more, okay?” mizuki said. they started to get up but then got pulled down by a warm hand. “…ena?”
“please! don’t leave me…” ena murmured. was she really that scared? aw, that’s cute.
“but, the snacks…”
“is getting more snacks more important than me?”
“yes."
ena’s mouth fell open. “big meanie!”
mizuki laughed. well, they suppose they could get more popcorn and snacks later…or never. doesn’t matter, their girlfriend is more important. they sighed. “okay, fine,” they sat back down, placing the bowl of popcorn on the ground, the wrapper of the snacks inside it. “i’ll stay here, only because i’m the bigger person in this relationship!” they wrapped their arm over ena’s shoulder, pulling her closer.
“hmm, thank you.”
they continued watching the movie, their hands holding one another.
