Work Text:
There was a butterfly.
Its wing was damaged,
And you tried to save it.
You made a home for it, when you
Yourself have no place
To call home.
You tried to save it, but
It did not matter.
For he is a callous man,
And you are the bug
Underneath his shoe.
He killed it, laughing
At another malicious gag
While you stand numb.
This was another day
With the same joke.
There was a butterfly.
And you tried to save it.
But if there’s one thing he’s taught you,
It’s that
The things you care for
Are meant to be broken.
