Work Text:
Kaeya knew he’d never be able to overpower Diluc. His brother wielded a claymore as if it weighed no more than a brick, and, unlike Kaeya, he had a Vision.
He knew that Diluc was upset and grieving. Kaeya himself was grieving. Maybe that was why he told Diluc the truth when he did. Better to just get it all out while the pain was fresh, right?
Kaeya knew Diluc would be angry. He was willing to take a beating.
Kaeya was willing to die.
But deep down, he hoped that Diluc would make it quick. That Diluc would recall their bond and grant him a merciful end.
He was wrong.
Kaeya scream dwindled to a silent wheeze as Diluc’s claymore shoved right through his chest, dangerously close to his heart. As his vision faded and it became harder to breathe through the blazing agony, Kaeya accepted his fate.
His day of reckoning had come, and Diluc was the executioner.

Diluc let go of his bloody claymore with shaky hands. The blind rage he had felt was fading away to a cold dread.
He had just lost his father, and now his own hands had ended his brother.
Kaeya’s face, though twisted in pain, was tragically peaceful. Diluc stumbled, dropping to his knees and taking his brother’s face in his trembling hands.
There was nothing to say. There was nothing to do. Diluc couldn’t bring himself to move from Kaeya’s side, even as the rain soaked through his clothes and chilled him to the bone.
He had killed the last living member of his family, and there was no going back.
Diluc didn’t think he could live in a world without Kaeya.
