The silence before Diluc speaks is almost a physical presence. “But it helped. It helped you, Kaeya. Clearly, you still need it.”
Kaeya’s lip wobbles and he turns his head to the side, out of Diluc’s view. “Well, it wouldn’t matter, anyway. There’s no point anymore. Besides, those things are long gone, I made sure of that.”
Diluc can’t tempt him. There’s no temptation, anymore. He knows if he lets himself crumble there’s nothing left for him, only himself. How could Diluc be so cruel to try and convince him, after he’s been so good?

Kaeya hasn’t tried to regress since before Diluc left. He’s made sure of that. Too bad Diluc doesn’t understand that.

Sebastian is silent for a moment as he places the blanket beside himself, keeping himself and the outfit on display. “You don’t seem unbothered to me.”
Alex finally turns to look at Sebastian, rolling his eyes. He fidgets with his fingers, pulling and twisting at each of them. His cheeks are still painted red and his eyes flicker between each of Sebastian’s own.
“What do you want me to say, Sebastian? You clearly expect something from me, what is it? What do you want me to say?”
Sebastian leans forward, his face patient despite the playful glint in his eye. “I just want to know why you can’t look at me right now.”
Alex huffs out a dry laugh. “I’m literally looking at you right now.”
He shakes his head, slowly looking back up at the ceiling. “I don’t know, Sebastian. I don’t know why seeing you like this has me all- uh, flustered, is that the word? I don’t know, you just look-“
Alex drags his eyes back down and lets them trail over Sebastian’s body. He takes a deep breath. “Good. You look good.”

“Hi,” Sebastian echoed, unable to hide the sceptical note in his voice.
His gaze danced over Alex’s face, appreciating its sharp angles and strong chin and plump lips and mature-yet-boyish charm he could only hope to achieve in his wildest dreams. He’d be delusional if he said the man wasn’t handsome, and he’d be even more delusional if he said that didn’t make him green with envy.
Their eyes met, and Sebastian noticed a reddened hue to Alex’s. It looked like he’d been crying hard or— No… wait a second.
“Are you high right now?”
Sebastian receives a text message from the last man in Pelican Town he’d ever expect and takes up on the offer to ditch his friends for the night. Alex explores a hidden side of himself he’s only just discovered, courage like the smoke in his lungs. Neither is sure this isn’t a terrible idea. Neither can stop themselves from finding out.
