While the other three bickered grumpily as they pushed the Regalia, Ignis tried again to dial the service station in Hammerhead. It was the fifth attempt, and regrettably, the fifth time he’d failed to get through.
“Any luck?” Noctis asked as he glanced over.
“Only a busy signal,” Ignis sighed. Considering Hammerhead’s reputation, he was perplexed why it was so difficult to reach anyone for assistance.
“Hold the phone,” Prompto chimed in. “Is it just me or was it supposed to be way closer?”
“I assure you the map is correct,” Ignis reassured. He had no doubts. Considering the fact his Uncle had passed the map to him shortly before their departure, there was no chance of the document being out of date.
“The map said that Hammerhead was right there,” Noctis remarked casually.
Prompto must have been feeling vindicated after Noctis’ assertion and continued to insist, “Literally, next door.”
Gladio grunted through the exertion of his physical burden to settle the matter with a voice of reason. “Looks that way, on a map of the world.”
“And the world’s a big old place,” Noctis conceded.
“Filled with wonders,” Ignis said. For indeed it was. Far larger than any of them had ever experienced before within the confines of the city wall. Rough start to their trip aside, the four of them would get to experience it together.
As the bickering resumed, Ignis smiled to himself and looked forward to the journey to come. His little brother was getting married in the city on the sea, and peace itself was on the horizon. “We’ll be there in no time.”
