    “What’re you doing here?” Ed asked, watching Stede skewer sausages onto a long stick and settle beside the fire to cook them.

    “I could ask the same of you,” Stede said, looking up at Ed through his eyelashes.

    Shit, they were long. Ed looked back at the flames and drank the last of whatever the alcohol was. Wine, maybe, and red at that. His mouth felt a little dry, though he supposed that could be attributed to Stede’s near nudity.
