Getting out candles and chalk and bringing it down to his basement was starting to become a very frequent thing for Qi Rong. And while this shit was technically expensive as hell, he couldn’t really complain when the purpose was seeing his stupid ass demon boyfriend. Not because he wanted to see him! But he was practically Guzi’s other father, so. Yeah.
Qi Rong arranged everything where it was needed before drawing the symbols he needed and sitting in the middle. He closed his eyes before peeking one back open.
“Where are you, bastard?” No sooner had the words left his mouth before Lang Qianqiu was sitting in front of him. Qi Rong felt his mouth go dry at his boyfriend’s shirtless and horned appearance, resisting the urge to reach out and put his hands on his body. Focus, Qi Rong! There are more important things than thirsting over your boyfriend right now!
“Qi Rong!” His boyfriend greeted, smile far too dumb for a literal demon. Qi Rong scowled.
“You’re late.” The green eyed man crossed his arms over his chest. Lang Qianqiu smiled and moved to kiss his cheek.
“Sorry, baobei. Got held up a bit,” He took a second to put on his human disguise, making Qi Rong instantly miss his chest as it wasn’t bare anymore, “Come on, let’s go tell Guzi that I’m here so we can get ready.”
They both headed up the stairs.
“By the way, it’s a fire hazard in here, you really don’t need this many candles every time you summon me.”
🎃
“You got me a Jesus costume.” Lang Qianqiu deadpanned. Qi Rong and Guzi both tried to stifle their giggles, though they were unsuccessful.
“It matches!” Guzi said in he and his dad’s defense, still giggling. Lang Qianqiu gave him a betrayed look. Just a few minutes earlier, the young boy had run into his arms with an excited scream about him being there and now he was making fun of him! Oh how the tables turn so quickly with children!
“I’m absolutely sure Jesus doesn’t match with the Grim Reaper and Cerberus.” Lang Qianqiu deadpanned. “He’s dead, doesn’t that count?” Qi Rong drawled from the doorway, looking entirely too pretty for a Grim Reaper in Lang Qianqiu’s opinion.
“You’re a terrible influence.” Lang Qianqiu said, coming up beside him and kissing his temple. The shorter man swatted at him with his hands, moving away with a tongue sticking out at him.
“Guzi!” He called, as if the kid wasn’t still in the same room.
“Yes, papa?”
“Can you go find your candy bucket? Then we’ll head towards the corn maze and do that before we trick or treat.” Guzi nodded, running off to his room where he had stashed the plastic pumpkin. Both men smiled at their son’s excitement.
Lang Qianqiu gently rested his hands on Qi Rong’s waist, making the shorter look at him. He kissed him gently.
“I’m glad you asked me to come celebrate with you two.”
🎃
Lang Qianqiu was truly getting a culture shock as they walked down the street that led to the corn maze. Qi Rong and Guzi watched him swivel his head around to every child passing them in colorful costumes.
“Is that child dressed like an acorn?” Lang Qianqiu asked his boyfriend with wide eyes. Qi Rong guffawed.
“You don’t come down here on Halloween a lot, do you?” Qi Rong asked. Lang Qianqiu shook his head.
“Never. I’ve never even celebrated Halloween, nevertheless with other people.” Lang Qianqiu shrugged.
"If you did, you’d be the kind of person that gives out carrots, wouldn’t you, Ge?" Guzi suddenly asked, making Qi Rong choke out a laugh. The demon looked offended.
“Just for that, I just might!” He said playfully, picking Guzi up and tickling before settling him on his shoulders. The young boy giggled, placing his hands in the older man’s to keep his balance. Qi Rong felt his eyes soften at the display, his heart full to bursting at how cute his little family was.
They arrived at the corn maze and Qi Rong made quick work of paying up for three tickets for them. Lang Qianqiu set Guzi down at his demand that he wanted to “be the leader of this adventure”. They were briefed over the rules of the maze before Guzi took one of each of their hands and tugged them in headfirst.
All was going well until Lang Qianqiu made them take a right that led them to a scarecrow that Qi Rong was sure they had seen 10 minutes ago.
"Great, you got us lost in this maze!" Qi Rong snarked out, eyebrows raised at Lang Qianqiu.
“We’re not lost!” The demon argued.
“We’re definitely lost.” Their son inputted, making Qi Rong grin and give him a high five. Lang Qianqiu pouted at them, but laughed.
“We might be a little lost.” He admitted.
“Wait!” Guzi shouted, pointing at a path, “Let’s go this way!” The men shrugged and followed their eccentric son. Thankfully, it was the correct thing to do, and they were spit out of the corn maze. They all yelled in celebration, hive fives going around the trio until their hands hurt.
Guzi started grinning at his dads.
“Candy time!”
🎃
“I severely overestimated how much energy that kid has.” Lang Qianqiu admitted once he and his boyfriend were tucked into their bed, the latter laying on the demon’s chest. Qi Rng hummed sleepily.
“A demon of the underworld, beaten by a child no older than 6? You’re really getting old, Qianqiu.” Qi Rong teased, looking up at the other man. Lang Qianqiu rolled his eyes.
“You ass, I’m serious.” He leaned his cheek against the top of Qi Rong’s head.
“I know, the kid’s a whole explosion in his intensity. It was funny to watch the people at their houses react to his loud ass ‘trick or treat!’’s though.” He mumbled, causing Lang Qianqiu to laugh.
“Exactly. Now you’re probably more tired than me, get some sleep.” Lang Qianqiu said, turning off the light and giving his boyfriend a kiss on the head before closing his eyes.
