Work Text:

"I walked down stairs after talking with her, she said I didn't belong there. I think you both know what happened next." Yellow said, leaning onto the wall as he sighed.

Yellow had explained to Red and Duck, Everything. From beginning to end about the other Versions of Red and Duck to Lesley, it was difficult for Yellow to talk about Lesley. Lesley has given Yellow the chills down to his spine, he doesn't know why he's always uneased. Red and Duck looked at each other and back at Yellow, full of shock and worry.

"Since when on earth did we have an upstairs!?" Duck question, trying to consume all of the information thrown onto him.

Red just looked down at the tiled floor as he began thinking, " Why does this sound..familiar...Wait, Yellow did say something about this..well before his batteries were changed. The crossword puzzle! He said on the top of us we're bigger, and bigger, and the top there is..." he tried to remember until it clicked. "A SMALL ONE OVER ALL OF THEM!" Red thought, as he looked back up in realization.

"Red? Are you okay?" Yellow asked, tilting his head.

Red looked at Yellow, "You said something like this before. When we tried to solve that crossword puzzle, remember Duck?" he answered, as he looked at Duck.

Duck nodded his head, "Indeed, you have said something before, like..uhmm..Oh! On the top of us they are bigger and bigger, and there..being a small one over the top of all of us! If I am correct." he claimed, as he looked at Yellow.

Yellow smiled, "Hm, they have thought of what he said..how nice of them to listen." he thought.

"Yes you two are correct, he did say something about that. How kind of you both to listen to his thoughts and opinions." Yellow confirms.

"He?" Red question, as he scratched his head.

"Who is he?" Duck asked, being confused as Red.

Yellow sighs, "Your friend Yellow sillies. He did say something about that." he answered, as he stops leaning onto the wall.

"But..aren't you him?" Red questioned, he didn't understand.

"I am a half of Yellow. I only said him because he is your friend." Yellow replies, looking away.

"Oh...aren't you our friend?" Duck asked.

Yellow became surprised, he wasn't..really him. Just half of him..only the smart Yellow. Nothing more.

"Well, I'm not sure. It's up to you both really." Yellow responds, as he clutches the book in his hands and begins to walk out of the kitchen.

"Wait, where are you going?" Red said, getting up from his chair.

Yellow stops at his pace then looks at Red, "I need some alone time. Only for a little, for...reasons." he replied.

"What about the book?" Duck questioned, getting up from his chair.

"I'll tell you about the book later, I promise. If you need me I'll be in my room. Yellow said, walking out of the kitchen.

"Yellow! Come back-"

"I think we should leave him be" Red suggested, cutting off Duck.

Duck sighed from annoyance, "Okay fine..I'll leave him be." he said.

"Wanna continue where we left off? You remember right?" Red asked, looking at Duck.

"Yes, yes, indeed I remember. So what ways should we use so Yellow can avoid..him" Duck questioned, as he sat back down.

"I think I got some ideas." Red responded, sitting down as well.

----

Yellow quietly closed the door behind him, as he finally entered his room. Yellow took a deep sigh as he leaned onto the door, slipping down. The poor boy is stressed out, wanting to escape this unknown reality, but sometimes it's never easy.

"Are you okay?" A voice asked.

That voice sounded awfully familiar, sounded just like Yellow's voice. Yellow looked up to the mirror that was next to his bed. He sees the one and only, the "real" Yellow.

"Oh hello again, Yellow." Smart Yellow responds, walking to the mirror.

"Hellooo!" Yellow said happily, waving his hand like a young 11 year old.

Smart Yellow smiled, "It's wonderful to see you." he said.

Yellow nodded, "Y-Yeah-haha! I like seeing you too!".

Smart Yellow chuckled, "As happy as usual huh?" he asked.

"Uh huh, Uh huh! How are you doing?" Yellow questioned.

Smart Yellow looked down, "Not too good, I finished talking with your friends on what happened and everything..well almost everything except for the book." he answered, showing the weird language cover of the book.

Yellow had stars in his eyes, "I-I like the- uhh the writing! It looks cool!" he laughed, looking at the cover closely.

"This book isn't mine. It's from a-uhmm friend..her name is..Lesley." Smart Yellow responded, having that cold feeling again.

"Oh that-uhh tall stitched lady!" Yellow claimed.

Smart Yellow sighed, "Yes Yellow,  the tall stitched lady." he confirmed.

"I saw her from uhh- a dream thingy once! It felt real." Yellow said.

"That's Dejavu Yellow" Smart Yellow corrected, looking at him.

"Oh! Deja-Deja-vu!" Yellow replied, looking at Smart Yellow.

Yellow started realizing, Smart Yellow looked tired and sad, he didn't like seeing people like that. Especially someone like his tall friend, Red.

"Wha-Whats wrong?" Yellow asked, as he tilted his head.

"I'm stressed is all, especially with Lesley..I'm not sure why." Smart Yellow responds, putting his hand in his hair.

"It's okay, it's- uhh- it's hard to put little wires together to make sense. Like our brain connecting the wires again!" Yellow said, with a bright smile on his face.

Smart Yellow did a small smile, "Heh, thank you Yellow. I promise you that I'll try as hard as I can to get out of this..type of..reality." he responded, clutching the book harder.

"Okay! But..what will happen then? Will I never see you again?" Yellow questioned, being worried to not see his friend anymore.

Smart Yellow's face soften, "Well sadly you won't..but, when this is over..I promise you we'll both be in control. Together." he promised, letting a hand go flat on the mirror.

"Promise?" Yellow asked, as he whipped a tear away.

"Promise." Smart Yellow responded.

Yellow made a huge smile as he also puts a hand on the mirror flat, to be in sync with Smart Yellow's hand.

Smart Yellow uses his other arm to put the book down onto the drawer next to him, "Boop." he peeped, using his other hand to do a boop on Yellow's nose(even though he's in the mirror-). Yellow laughed in joy, he considered it to be funny. Smart Yellow did smaller laughs, he did think it was funny as well.

----

"And that's how we make sure he doesn't see Yellow!" Red claimed, slamming the pen on the table.

Duck nodded, "Yes indeed, a wonderful idea by us truly!" he agreed.

They haven't realized the door opening and footsteps, until Yellow has arrived inside the kitchen.

"What are you both so happy about?" Yellow asked, putting a hand on his hip.

Red and Duck look at Yellow, they were happy to see him again.

"Oh, nothing really, just making plans." Duck answered.

"Ah, I see, whatever you two did I believe will successful." Yellow claimed, doing a little smile.

"Indeed it will be!" Duck agreed, crossing his arms being proud of himself.

"You all better now kiddo?" Red asked.

Yellow looked at Red, "Yeah, I just needed time to think." he answered, with a smile.

Red sighed in relief and smiled, "That's good to hear." he replied.

"So, you ready to tell us about the book?" Duck questioned.

"I believe so yes." Yellow confirms, showing the cover of the book.

"This book was given to me by Lesley..uhm she said that I needed this. I know a little bit of this language but, I'll have to experiment on it a little more. I do believe this is a way to escape from this reality, we all can live teacher-free and have freedom from lessons!" Yellow claimed, with a smile.

"Yes..YES...YEEESSSS!" Red screamed flipping the table.

Yellow and Duck stared in shocked. Yellow began to laugh, Duck got pissed.

"RED YOU DIMWIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Duck screeched, getting up from his chair.

"BEING HAPPY THAT WE CAN LEAVE THIS PLACE!" Red answered.

"LET'S FU-"

Duck immediately ran to Yellow then covered his ears.

"LANGUAGE! THERE IS A CHILD HERE!" Duck screamed, cutting of Red's celebration.

"Wait that brings the question, how long have we known each other for Yellow?" Red asked, in a monotone voice again(LIKE HE DIDN'T CELEBRATE-).

Duck uncovered Yellow's ears, "How long have we know each other for really?" Duck also asked.

"I was 8 when we all first met, so that would be about 6 years that we've known each other for." Yellow answered.

"WAIT YOUR 14!? I THOUGHT YOU WERE 10!" Duck yelled in surprise.

"Wow for that long? Pretty neat." Red responded.

"Yes neat indeed but wow!" Duck agreed, trying to calm down.

"So that would make you Red, 25 years old and Duck 27 years old!" Yellow confirmed.

Red and Duck were surprised, they didn't know they were that young.

"Wow." Red and Duck replied, basically that's all they can say.

"Can I ask you two for a favor?" Yellow asked.

"Uh sure what is it?" Red questioned, looking at Yellow.

"It would be a little confusing to call me Yellow. So please, call me..Manny." Yellow said.

"Manny?" Duck questioned.

"Uh sure, Manny it is then. Your still our Yellow no matter what okay?" Red replied.

Manny smiled, "Thank you. I owe you two a lot."

"It's more like, we owe you a lot. How about dinner, all three of us." Red claimed.

Manny and Duck looked at Red then smiled. It would be nice for them all three as a Family to eat.

"We should go out grocery shopping, we don't have much food." Duck replied, as he looked at the fridge, putting his hands on his hips.

"Everyone dress up and get ready, we'll be going out to eat then get groceries!" Duck said, leaving the kitchen.

Red and Manny looked at each other, then smiled. The two start to leave the kitchen, as Red turns off the lights.

----

Lesley didn't like where anything was going. That book was supposed to be shredded, not unshredded. All Lesley felt was sadness and anger. Why would those three want to leave such a lovely place where everything is okay and safe? Lesley hated how she can't do anything, it felt like someone or something else was tearing the strings. The the main question is,

Who would do such an "awful" thing?
