Stede slowly became aware of the warmth around him as he awoke. A pair of strong tattooed arms were wrapped around him, a cozy little spoon, as his sweetheart’s soft breaths caressed the back of his neck. Ed was a cuddler; it was one of the many things Stede loved about him. Their bed was soft and warm, a perfect little cocoon, and the room still held the peaceful quiet of the morning. He sighed softly, thinking of how he wanted to just stay snuggled up with Ed for the rest of the day. It wasn’t like either of them had anywhere to be. They could stay in bed all day, order food to be delivered, and binge whatever trashy tv show they were in the mood for. There was just one tiny problem - he really had to pee.
He started to ease out of Ed’s embrace, but he heard a distinctive deep breath behind him, and was immediately pulled back into Ed’s chest as his big spoon went full octopus, tightening his hold and wrapping his legs around Stede too.
“Ed,” Stede laughed, “I need to get up.”
“No, gonna keep you right here forever.” Ed mumbled and laid a sleepy kiss on his neck.
Stede rolled over so that they were facing each other, legs tangling back up together, Ed’s arm still slung across his waist. He brushed Ed’s hair out of his face and tucked it behind his ear.
“What would you think about just staying in bed all day today?” Stede rested his palm on Ed’s cheek and kissed him softly on the lips.
“I think that sounds perfect, love.” Ed smiled, his face still sleep-softened.
“Okay, then I have to get up because my bladder’s about to burst. I’ll make us some tea while I’m at it. You decide what to order for breakfast and pick a show,” another kiss, “be back in a tick.”
Ed gave a little whine at Stede’s absence as he left their bed. He grabbed his robe as he stepped into the bathroom. After handling his morning ablutions, he started the kettle for tea. When he came back into the bedroom several minutes later, two steaming cups of tea in hand, Ed was sitting up in bed, his own robe wrapped around him.
He handed Ed a cup, and placed his on the bedside table before climbing back under the comforter. Ed had set his own cup aside, and he pulled Stede into his arms as soon as he was back in the bed. Stede cupped Ed’s face in his hands and kissed him.
“Good– morning– my love,” he said between kisses.
“And good morning to you, love of my life,” Ed looked at him lovingly, and kissed him back.
They stayed like that for a while, all lazy kisses and soft touches, eventually breaking apart with a series of light pecks on the lips.
“I love you,” Stede whispered, his forehead resting against Ed’s.
“I love you too,” Ed whispered back. Then, drawing back, he said, “Let’s order crepes from that place on Queen Anne Avenue.”
“That sounds perfect, darling. Now, did you decide what show we’re bingeing today?”
Ed grinned and pressed play on the remote, “I think you’re gonna love this one.”
