Dessert in the Desert

Summary:

Dooley and the Detective going for Dinner, not much else.

There might be a few small spoilers if you have not played the first case of Part 2 yet.
Not much but it would help knowing that case.

Notes:

I wrote this randomly after playing the first chapter of "Darkside Detective - A Fumble in the Dark"
I have no clue what it is, I did not plan any story so this is just my brain puke on a random evening.

Work Text:

Dooley stood outside the Detectives apartment and was dialling his partners number on the phone next to the laundromat. He had just picked up his freshly cleaned shirt, the tomato sauce stain still on the sleeve.
“Detective? I am ready to go. I am waiting outside of your apartment. No, actually I am just watching the pigeon pooping on your car.”
“… Good thing it’s raining then.”
The pigeon pooped again and the stain was surprisingly not being washed away by the rain.
Dooley was still on the phone when the Detective walked out of the building, holding a pink umbrella over his head.
“Dooley? You can hang up now….”
“I could.”
Dooley did hand up and followed the Detective into the freshly pooped on car and they drove to the city centre where they had booked a table at the “Best Dessert Restaurant, not in the Desert”.
Just as they arrived it had stopped raining but Dooley still insisted on brining the umbrella with him as he exited the car.
“To ward of bird poop. Or robotic bird poop.”
The Detective just nodded and opened the restaurant door for his companion.
The silent waitress just led them to their table, in a corner far away from the windows.
They ordered the “Spaghetti Carbonara without the Spaghetti but Potatoes instead and without the sauce but fried” and the “Fried Potatoes”, their usual favourites.
“This is going to be a great dinner”, said the Detective and hoped that his company would also think so.
Apparently, he did as Dooley nodded and started to explain a theory about restaurant windows being fake and the things you could see from the inside were actually old TV ads from another Dimension, edited to look not-suspicious.
The Detective listened and continued to do so when their very not unsimilar meals arrived.
He liked spending some time with Dooley, as it never got boring and his stories always had truth in them even if they sounded like crazy conspiracy theories at first. But over the years he had learned so much more and was quite impressed with some of the things his partner always seemed to know.
“… and this is why we should order the “Fancy Cupcake in an actual cup” and the “Cheesecake that looks just like cheese but actually isn’t made out of cake but chocolate” as dessert, right Detective?”
As he had been lost in thought for a minute the Detective took a second to answer but agreed.
The desserts were always a highlight of going out for dinner after all.
In the meantime, the silent waitress had left and Emily came up to their table to ask if they wanted “Less desert for double the price or the normal dessert for double the price?”
“I am not sure if that is …” Said the Detective but Armelia interrupted him.
“As Bloodwolves it is our duty to increase our budget so we can buy stuff we don’t actually need.”
Dooley nodded and they agreed to take the normal dessert for double the price.
“We can only do so much, with our own budged being limited after all. “, explained the Detective when the Bloodwolves stared at him. This, they could understand and quickly brought out the desserts to them and left them alone afterwards.
Dooley took a bite of the cupcake and smiled.
“Hmm, tastes just like I expected, which you do not expect at all.”
The Detective was satisfied with his non-non-cheesecake as well and was thinking of ordering a second piece when Dooley asked him what he had planned after this dinner.
“Not much.”, he replied. “I thought that maybe we could watch a movie and play with P.D. ?”
He smiled at Dooley and was happy to see his partner nodding and agreeing to the plan.
They left and spend a few hours not watching the movie at all and playing with P.D. before going to sleep and rest before going on another interesting adventure the next day.
