Work Text:
Rui loves watching Akito sleep. His face goes soft and peaceful and he looks like all the problems in the world can't bother him.
Rui loves how he looks bathed in moonlight, late at night when Akito has already been sleeping for hours and Rui is just going to bed. He loves how warm Akito feels against him, loves listening to his steady heart beat. It makes Rui feel safe. It makes Rui feel at home.
Rui also loves how Akito looks in the morning sun. He loves how the light makes Akito’s hair glow almost ethereally, forming a halo around his face. He loves the subtle freckles dusting Akito’s face, like little constellations. He loves how the sun makes Akito's eyes sparkle as he blinks them open to gaze at Rui, so full of love that Rui can't help but feel happy and like everything is okay .
Rui loves Akito's voice, early in the morning, still deep with sleep, in the noon, full of energy and bright and late at night, words slurring as he falls asleep.
He loves how warm and full it is, how it changes with Akito's mood.
He loves how controlled and alive it is when Akito sings, always so strong and clear.
Rui loves Akito's hands. They're a bit smaller than his own, letting them fit perfectly together. They're a bit rough from years of drawing and there's some tiny scars from their cooking mishaps, but still they're soft and gentle.
Rui loves Akito's height. Akito has complained about their height difference a little, but to Rui it's perfect.
He loves seeing Akito in his clothes. They're slightly too big on him and make Akito look small and cute.
He loves how perfectly they fit into a hug, Akito's head resting on his shoulder.
Rui loves Akito's mind. He's not the smartest person Rui knows. Even so, Akito finds a way to surprise him, everytime. He looks at the world so differently than Rui and isn't afraid to talk about it. A trait that has helped Rui on more than one occasion.
Rui loves Akito's cooking. It's not better than a Michelin star chef's, but Rui would always prefer Akito's.
There's no secret ingredient, there's no unique gimmick and yet the sole fact that it was Akito who made it, will always make a meal perfect to Rui.
Rui loves Akito's art. It's messy and clean and monotone and colorful and scary and adorable and everything in between.
Rui has seen art by great masters of the craft, but Akito's is special.
Rui loves Akito's music. Even with Vivid Bad’s disbanding, Akito never once gave it up.
He hums a tune while cooking, sings to songs while working and sings to Rui whenever he asks Akito to.
Rui loves Akito.
And today I'm so glad I can say: Happy Birthday, my love.
