Work Text:
Gem woke to the bright dawn shining through her blinds, another perfect day for working. With a stretch she got up Only to fall over, looking down she saw her...hooves? "Wait, w-What!" Gem whispered watching her soft ginger fur shine in the morning light.
Gem was a doe centaur And a proud one at that! But with time every one, hybrid or not realize that showing all of you too a new server is a wound waiting to happen.
When gem arrived at hermitcraft the first thing she she noticed was how kind everyone was despite only knowing her a few seconds. The second one was that glamor was on, she didn't question it at the time wanting to enjoy the world a little bit before probably getting kicked out, but this server was world changing So- what was a little secret to harm. A sharp knock woke her from her sober.
With a sigh she trotted lightly down stairs and opened the door a crack, showing just her uper torso only to jump back in shock.
There stood false her face freckled with bright gold down feathers, her wings spread wide catching the winds lighty, her hands now scaly and sharp ending in 2 inch claws that hooked dangerously.
Gem stood frozen making false giggle excitedly "They look great I know, but Look at you! I know your going to Love docs stall once we hit the party!" False chirped 'like Actually chirped' grabbing her hand pulling her from the doorway.
"Wait! Wait what's going on why's the glamour of!?" Gem stammered tripping over her hooves as she caught up with false who was semi flying while skipping through the forest.
She turned around, smile so bright she could rival bdubs "It's Vanilla Day and my friend I'm honored I'm the one who gets to introduce you to this hermit tradition!" Falce giggled now poking her side "race ya!" She chirped, spreading her wings wide and speeding off whipping through the woods. Gem huffed out a laugh picking up speed, still scared but hey, she's competitive if nothing else.
She watched False fly away a smile on her face, the first genuine one she'd felt in a long time.
Gem arrived at the edge of the forest just in time to see False reach town, what lay beyond gem made her gasp.
The once calm town square was now bussling with life, shining in soft lantern light making it glow orange, perfect match for the fall weather.
Looking down she noticed almost all of hermitcrafts residents skipping, flying, Trotting! Around without a care in the world as they laughed and joked, setting up small booths and stalls and selling very specific products from vering cultures. Gem felt her heart sweel as she took in the scene.
"This is awesome!" Gem shouted catching up to False who was now sitting on a bench, her back against the statue of some old fae lord.
"I know, and the best part is the Food, here try this!" False rammed a stick into her hands, impaled on the stick seemed to be a smoked purple plant unlike any she's seen. Hesitantly she took a bite, it was the most wonderful thing she's ever put in her mouth, it tasted of sweet smoke and savory meat.
"Mmm this is so good!" False beamed, her ocean eyes sparkling, "I know it's warped shrooms glazed with hoglin blood, impulse is selling them, says it's his Vgmjdaehrlg's recipe" False whispered to her. Gem nodded eagerly eating more and passing the stick to False who did the same.
A sharp growl caught there attention as they finished the snack, gem looked over to gasp. There a tall black werewolf was pouncing onto ren, teeth bared in a challenge. Ren in turn ducked and knocked out their legs making them yelp and trip.
"Oh my God!" Gem screamed, but it was too late, the creature was upon her.
She shut her eyes tight waiting for sharp fangs to rip out her throat, instead lanky fuzzy arms wrapped around her with an exited bark. She could hear false giggling as she looked up to the beasts face, its fur shined raven black with light tufts of fur falling off it's... mustache.
"MUMBO!? W-wha- What was all that?" Gem yelled shaking the taller for a sec. False fell into hysterics as she fell to the floor holding her stomach.
"It's a lycan brawl, nothing more then a play fight for show!" False laughed, trying to catch her breath. "You ok?"
"I'm fine, just a bit shook, I thought you where human?" Gem whispered sitting back down.
"oh but I am!" Mumbo said smugly, pulling out a bottle full of a thick crimson liquid he slipped it. In a puff of smoke stood regular mumbo mustache and all. Gems just started as false closed her jaw, mumbo looked as if he was about to burst holding back his laughter. "B-...How" gem demanded squinting her eyes.
This time mumbo let loose, falling into a puddle of cackles. "Just a bit of magic, now I gotta scadoodle!" he shouted, snapping his fingers.
The "human?" was now running off as gem watched, her eyes full of awe. "What was that?"
False smirked shaking her head "Just mumbo, he's a shapeshifter anything he consumes he becomes, what I'm worried about is what he has in that bottle" false mutters standing up.
Gem followed her lead and stood up, eyes narrowed on a particular stand that was black with the simple letter X stamped on the front.
Gem walked over and looked at the stall, it was run by a tall,Large man, a void black tail, horns and ears protruded from his tanned, scar'd skin. The man looked up from the stall he was running as she approached. "Hello."
"Hi."
"You new to hermitcraft?"
The man giggled as he reached behind the stand, pulling out a familiar green helmet now looking tiny compared to the beast.
"wait, Xisuma! Wow your big. No Affense!, I just- I mean-" gem fell to a stammering mess of apologies as X stood their patiently. "Gem it's Fine really, I know this can be a bit of a shock, you'd be surprised how many people ask to climb me like a mountain!" X lauphed his British accent now more deep and gravily but flowed more easily.

A snarl rattled from behind X, gem relised it was an actual language from the repeating snapping sounds.

"Sorry about that, Ex gets grumpy around this time because he's no longer the tallest" X giggled knowing down to whisper.

X snapped his head back a snarl now hissing past his split lips. Gem felt her heart drop as she watched Xs lower jaw split into four sections like a demogorgon, his large fangs shining in the midday light.

Ex floated in behind him, half a peach in his mandible like jaws "you said the a-word" Ex giggled like a school boy pointing at his taller brother, X turned and pounced knocking them both to the ground with a savage snarl. Gem took a deep breath to calm her hammering deer heart as she trotted away from the brothers fighting.
Grian landed next to her his red macaw feathers more prominent. "Hey gem, how's your day been, interested in some retail therapy?"
"Haha thanks but, I'll pass" she said, scanning the crowd, it was a title wave of colors first and feathers all blending into a symphony of diversity.
"Too bad" he sighed "Any-who wanna go to scars booth, I heard it's a good one this year!"
Gem smiled as she scrapped her cloven hooves on the cobble road, a feeling once foreign now new and comforting.
"sure".
