Chapter 1: Bad Time

Chapter Text

Today has been a hard day, he knows he hadn’t slept in a while or eaten for that matter, but he shouldn't feel THIS bad, he’s done worse before. Donatello sighs, maybe he should just take a break from work and get some water. Yeah, he’ll do that.

As he’s walking to the kitchen he realizes just how bad he really feels, it's like staying up for 37 hours straight might be a bad thing.

As he’s grabbing himself some water, he hears the Tv playing loudly, and the lights were they always this bright? He starts to curl in on himself while he breathing quickened. His battle shell feels too heavy, and his make too tight, and when did he end up on the floor?

In the other room Ralph, Leo, and Mikey were rewatching Lou Jitzu movies. Mikey insisted on having the musing turned all the way up so the base would sound in their chests.

“I’m gonna grab us some more popcorn, be right back.” Leo said as stood up. “HURRY” Mikey shouted, “THE BEST PART IS NEXT!”

As Donny was trying to catch his breath he heard somebody gasp and touch his shoulders. He flinched back and started to breathe harder, if that was even possible.

Leo was freaking out a little, what was he supposed to do? He tried to shake Don out of it but that clearly didn't work. The he remembered what Ralph told him about the 478 meathed and how counting the in and outs of Donnie's breathing helped him when he got like this, “Hey Dontron, I don't know if you can hear me, but I need you to try and breathe with me okay?”

Slowly Donnie started to quell his breathing and he came to, he heard Leo counting, “-ld for 7, and out for 8. You with me yet Don?”

Donnie just nodded his head, feeling to tired to do anything else. Leo picked him up and started carrying him somewhere, “I think it's time to for bed, hmmm?” he said sarcastically.

When they reached Donnie's room, Leo settled him in his bed and tucked him into his sheets. They’d have a talk about this later, but now’s not the time.

He also takes a picture, just for plackmail purposes.

When Donnie woke up, he was greeted by a wonderful sight. Ralph and Leo giving him the look.

“Donnie it’s time to talk,” Ralph started “You guys, I’m fine, we have nothing to talk about.” He responded in a dull tone. “Nope,” Ralph started again, “We are talking about this, you need to tell us when you are about to have a…” he waves around his hands, “whatever that was.”

Then Leo began “You could barely breathe, that is not normal, that is not okay. What caused it anyway?” Donnie simply shrugged. “I dunno.”

“Stop deflecting it Don, seriously what's up?” Ralph tried again.

But what was Donnie supposed to say, they have never cared before, was it only when something huge happens that they care?

Leo snapped the soft shell out of it, “We will not move until you tell us.” And this time, Donnie gave in.

“It's just a stupid sensory overload, it happens and then everything feels overwhelming and it's dumb an-” Ralph cut him off, “That doesn’t sound dumb Don, just promise you’ll get us next time this happens so we can help please?”

“Sigh, okay.”

It had only been two days, why was he having another overload? The soft shell tried to breathe but it only got worse, everything felt wrong. His battle shell was too heavy, he throat was too dry, he can’t stop shakin-

Then he remembered what they said, he could go to somebody for help. He tried, he did try, but he couldn’t seem to move, he still didn’t trust them.

So he called April, and as routine she helped. This should all get better in time, but now is not then.
