Work Text:

Ochako hesitantly looked in her wallet as the rest of the class ordered lunch on their field trip into the city. It was the end of the month so she hadn't got her work study paycheck yet.

"What are you getting, Uraraka?" Deku asked, studying the menu above the counter.

"Oh, I don't know. I'm not very hungry," Ochako mumbled, snapping her wallet closed and stuffing it inside her bag.

"You might want to eat something," Iida said. "We've got a long day ahead."

Ochako pursed her lips. He was right but she literally didn't have enough money. She stepped out of line and smiled widely.

"I had a big breakfast. I'll be okay." Before they could argue or catch her lie, Ochako hurried to sit with some of the class that already had their food.

"Skipping lunch again?" Jirou asked in a quiet, concerned voice.

"I'm used to it by now. It's not a big deal," Ochako whispered. Jirou silently handed over one of her dumplings and Ochako took it gratefully. After taking a bite, a box of food slid in front of her. "What-"

"They gave me the wrong thing," Bakugou said curtly. He stood up and headed back to the food court.

"That's odd," Kirishima said. "I heard him order and he usually checks his food at the counter."

"Must've missed something," Sero said.

Ochako watched Bakugou wait in line for a few minutes and noticed him pay again. 'Embarrassed' was an understatement. If it weren't for the hunger gnawing at her stomach, she might have stopped herself from digging into the yakisoba Bakugou 'hadn't ordered'.

When they got back to school, Ochako risked cornering him. Before she could say anything, Bakugou called her out.

"Don't even think about thanking me. What happened? You knew about this trip for a month, Cheeks."

"I know but-"

"Just meet me in the library at lunch tomorrow."

So that's what Ochako did. Bakugou sat with his back to her at one of the computers. When she got close enough, she saw a bunch of columns and numbers on the screen.

"Took you long enough," he muttered, pulling a chair out for her.

Ochako sat and eyed the computer screen with befuddlement. "You...made me a spreadsheet?"

Bakugou shifted awkwardly in his chair. "All I did was enter the formulas and format it. You'll have to add the amounts and whatever expenses I don't know about."

He then navigated her through the file, explaining how everything worked in detail. He put so much effort into it.

"You made me a spreadsheet," Ochako repeated affectionately, her heart racing.

Bakugou stopped talking. He nodded and showed her how to add her own columns and how to update the formulas if she needed.

"Total expenses are here. Red is negative funds, green is positive."

Ochako touched the screen fondly and Bakugou cleared his throat.

"I'll send this to your school email," he said. "Try not to fuck up the formulas."

"You know about the money I send my parents?" Ochako asked, reading the expenses he'd already inputted.

"It's obvious."

"Maybe," she whispered, realizing just how much Bakugou paid attention. She hadn't told anyone.

"Class is about to start. I sent the file over but--if you need me to explain things again..."

"I'll know who to ask," Ochako said, her heart swelling. "Thank you so much."

The tips of his ears turned pink. "It's nothing."

Bakugou left immediately and Ochako noticed the back of his neck was flushed too. He aggressively slung his bag onto his shoulder and shoved the library door open as if it had insulted him.

Ochako smiled softly and looked back at the spreadsheet he'd made for her. She had a notebook with her expenses but this would save her time and it was more organized.

"I think we both know this isn't nothing," Ochako said to herself.
